  1. I found that clips are faster because: 1) No cases caught under the star when ejecting brass (more of a consistency point actually) 2) No speedloader in the way when you're closing the gun and get back to the target. Reloading with moonclips is just clean. All the brass comes out of the cylinder, you just put a fresh clip in and you're ready to go again. About that conversion...I don't know. I've shot a 586 that was converted for clips and it was horrible to reload. I'd save the money and get a good deal on a used 625. I think it doesn't really matter. I try to be relaxed when I throw in the new clip. When I'm relaxed they always go in fast and all of my clips are wobbly as hell
  2. Yup, that's what I have in my guns. Thanks for the pics
  3. That would be the easiest way. I shot lots of matches with 180 PF where 170 was required. There is no difference on the clock between 170.1 and 180.0.
  4. Thanks for clearing that up Mike. Seems like both my 625-2 model of 1988 and my 625-3 model of 1989 have floating hands. It does not seem to effect my DA trigger pull. It breaks at a nice 8.5 lbs.
  5. I'm also interested in this. I have heard some things about floating hands, but I still don't know how to identify one. Do you have any pics?
  6. You're better than you think you are Sam. You can subctract the draw time from your time. When Jerry set that record, the time started at the first shot. So your total time would be 4.21 seconds But Damn! What a big improvement in less than a year!
  7. Happy 2005 everyone. May all your shooting wishes come true.

    Schmitz

Recently, the National Dutch IPSC organization (NPSA) started raising funds to get me (poor college student ) to the World Shoot in Ecuador. Forum member Schmitz offered to pay my Match fee (which is $400!!!) That is just awesome! Thanks Henny. I'll work my butt off to bring you back a nice shiny gold medal!!!
  9. So true. Fast splits are only as fast as you think they are. That means that if you're shooting "fast" splits, you're shooting on the edge. Shooting on the edge gives you the feeling that you're going fast. While, if you back off as little as .02 per split, you'll have the sensation of being much slower, and you will have a feeling of total control. You won't lose time and your points will be better. Let the timer be the judge of how fast you are. All you have to do is get the points.
  10. Cool thread, and thanks for posting your results Mistral. I started a thread not so long ago about the huge strange drop in velocity I had when changing my OAL just a tad with my .45 load and N320. The thing I realised when I read your post is that the last time I chronoed was in -5 C and the time before that in +25 C. Hehe, you could be on to something.
  11. Will do. I'll ask my buddy to bring his cam next week. See if I can do it again
  12. Well, I made it today Draw .72 Reload 1.23 Total 1.95 Funny though. I remembered a part from Brian's book concerning "tangible goals" where he says something like: When trying to reach a goal like that, I just look for the time on the timer display and forget the rest. At times like that it is best to back up a little and go for a certain feel instead of just "going for a fast time". Well, that did the trick for me Thanks Brian
  13. I hope you on't have any valuable fish in that pond Kathy Seriously, Blue Herons are everywhere and they will eat everything. A friend of mine lost $400 worth of Koi Carps in about 3 minutes
  14. point shooting? Revolver? I just finished shaving myself......
  15. Good to hear! So....how fast are your fastest runs???
  16. Sam, don't worry about that. 1.25s for a guaranteed hit to an 8 inch plate at 10y sounds good to me. Besides, those 2.5 months of not shooting doesn't mean there aren't any changes in your shooting. I think you'll find yourself improving much faster now. Shooting breaks have always meant drastic improvements for me (at least after a week or so ) Keep it up!
  17. LOL, just remember (and this is in no way an attempt to put Jake down) that anyone can do this if you are willing to put in the work! BTW, .59 is friggin' awesome Jake!!!
  18. I don't carry, but I use just my S&W 625 for every gun game I play.
  19. You can neutralize it by dropping a little oil in the case on the primer and the (yes) decap it veeeeerrrry carefully.
  20. Nice Going, with minor too! Should there be a junior tag behind your name?
  21. I second the "buy a 9mm to start with" comments. Buy the gun you like most (Beretta?) and a cheap but good Kydex holster. That should be a Nationals winning setup
  22. Yup those are the old ones. And BTW the 8 shot records were 1(!!!) second Is it possible he didn't make it the first time and is trying again?
  23. I found this: But I thought he already did those.
