  1. I dropped the guy that has modeled the reticles in autocad, in full scaling a note about this one Tod, hope he'll grab it and do a full scale model. I'd like to see it, it has lots o advantages... Thanks for the hand draw... you did good! Alan
  2. I'm not 100% sure, but even with the stage description saying "in the shooting box", I still believe the above would apply, and as stipulated requires an object (ground or other) to be touched *outside* the shooting box or fault line for it to be a penalty... Alan
  3. If that is what the written CoF description said to do....from the shooting box, then yeah...he gets a few procedurals. 'Chopped Liver' has it right there. It's in the CoF description. If he's in the air, he can't be in the box. Not to beat a dead horse, but... If you started in the shooting box, you are in it until one foot touches something outside of it. There are no vertical definitions of fault lines (shooting box) until you touch something. So, again, if the shooter was touching the box or the ground in the box, they are there until some portion of them touches some portion of another shooting area. (this also allows for being in both, which should be noted for rules interpretation as well.) I believe this is the way we manage foot faults in general isn't it? Alan
  4. I believe the intent around the topic of discussion is that if feet were in a shooting area, and in transition to another shooting area, you fire shoots with one or either foot in transition, but prior to contact with the next shooting area, you are still considered to be in the original shooting area and hence no penalty. We can't define the shooting box as a vertical space, well, we could, but it would sure make for lots more procedurals... I suspect that everyone has fired a shot with one foot in, one foot out, either moving from or to, thereby breaking the vertical plane of the box - which is also not a penalty. Just my .02, Alan
  5. I'm certainly no expert, and I've seen Erik's design. I would argue that it's *close* to what people wants, but still not quite. The discussion that started this thread was headed in the right direction, but then got derailed with the SOP tangent. For example. The IOR CQB seems to be a reasonable reticle as well, and has some nice features that are missing from Erik's and vice-a-versa. But in the pitbul it's in the front focal plan, and isn't daylight illuminated. So there must be a consensus around reticles that could be formed. That's all I'm saying instead of trying to fit the reticle to the company that is doing it (US Optics has some challenges with everything we'd want for example), why not come up with the design, and then see who's willing to take some risk...afterall, this is free R&D for someone, and it costs us nothing either except for weeding the tangents out of the discussion ... Just some bystander comments I suppose.... Alan
  6. running the risk of keeping this thread *on* target..... So, *what if*... Instead of looking at it from the perspective of a give scope manufacturer. What if we could form a consensus around a user designed reticle? Yes, I understand it wouldn't match *everyones* requirements. But what about the 80/20 rule or 90/10. I guess what I'm saying is - is there enough consensus that you could create a rough specification for a scope? Then maybe take that to manufactures and see who'd be will to run a prototype run and get the feedback. It seems we are all in agreement about a couple of things. (consensus wise) - 1-4 or 1-6 - daylight illuminated (means bright daylight and bright illumination - Rear focal plan reticle - Good knobs (I don't know how to define those) - some form of consensus around a CQB reticle (this seems to the be the point where we could pool our resources - start with an adequate starting point and draw up an ideal reticle) Still might be that no manufacture would be interested... but I suspect that if you came up with a group design, that would support a price point and volume, and you took it to a variety of manufacturers, it might get their attention. Just some random thots I suppose.... Alan - a total newbie!
  7. As a note, classifications are out as of this morning and the GA ST match percent of division scoring counted as a second classifier for those divisions that had more than 3 GM's... Just figured I'd pass it along. Alan
  8. And why is that? Thought open required more than one optical dot sight? This would be no different that having BUIS on the gun, just that it might be canted to the side... I don't believe with would drop you to open, it would be fine in Tac-opt I believe. Alan
  9. Ya know what puzzles me... and I have 2 brand new ones that do the exact same thing... What is it with gunsmiths now adays... why does the cut on the slide match the lower contour of the comps... I don't think I've see one from any gunsmith lately that does, there is always this 1/16" variance between the two contours... Is there some lake of metal that I'm not seeing that won't allow it? Just curious, Alan
  10. nope and that was on purpose... Tod, I totally understand the balance point that you make, however that's a function of overall weight as well.. for example, if the top ends weight less, then the balance point can be made to be the same with lighter backend componets as well. I know you guys like the PRS, but it's large, bulky and one of the heaviest. I have a UBR that I also really like, has all the features of the PRS, for a few less oz... I'm most likely going to pick up an upper from Paul at MSTN, but in thinking thru all of this, I decided I'd see what others weighed.... I shall have to pull my RR 16" mid with AA piston out and see what it weight, with UBR Alan
  11. From what I know and I'd talk to Chris at CPWSA.com, JL is really good about supporting those that have his gun... while he isn't making any new ones, I've heard he will work on those of his that are already in the wild. Check with Chris for specific however. Alan
  12. Curious what you 3gunners rifle weight is. And what basic configuration (not looking for every widget). How about: - barrel Length - Stock - type hand guards - type upper/lower assemblies - type BCG - minus mag and optics What does your 3gun rifle weigh?
  13. Thanks Eric, I have a bladetech for an eagle, I'll try that as well... Just looking for options right now. Alan
  14. As a note, I talked to Rich at Canyon Creek who does lots of squared triggers on 1911's and he uses a Safariland 5168 Alan
  15. Now you guys are gonna kill me... Let's not start a where am I in the list thing... I've got lists that go back to April of this year! He's starting at the top , the 2 identified above where at the top of the list. He's also filling the ones as he has all the components together for them. Some of you have more complex wish lists than others, so do be surprised if he hunts a pecks a little... BTW, I'm not going to post the list to the forum as I really don't want to breach the seller rules of the forum.... I simply tried to help with something that I was interested in as well and I hope that this all comes to fruition... If anyone is curious, I was first on my list and I haven't got a call yet ... I'm not worried, he'll call/email each of you when hes got your order together.... and if someone gets missed, I'll certainly poke him to make sure it wasn't an oversight. Thanks, Alan
  16. John, that's great news...As a point of reference, you were 4th on my list I'm fairly certain he has more than 10, just probably batching them in groups of 10... I think my list alone was close to 20 ... Can't wait to hear that you guys have them coming... been a long road, but I'm still optimistic that all will get what they want... he does seem like a really great guy, but a very busy one... Alan
  17. Erik, I talked to John again last night at our Christmas party... Obviously the price would have to be reasonable (I'm not saying cheap, just reasonable for what you are getting)... My main complaint with the Titan is, its by far and away the most effective Comp, but it's a fairly large hunk of steel hanging out there at the end of an 18 or 20 in fulcrum and I'm sure it contributes to overshoot on target acquisition, etc. I'd love a Ti version and would pay more to have one. Work your magic and see what we're up against and then let us know. Thanks so much! Alan
  18. first, the large shellplate bolt is secured with a brass tipped set screw, if you haven't tightened that, then doesn't matter what you do, your shell plate will get floppy and sling powder. Second, I thot I had mentioned above that on first install, you'll have to re-tighten the shellplate bolt after 100 or so rounds, this is due to the fact that the grease that in the bearings will squeeze out from the initial install pressures and you'll have to tweak the tightness of the shellplate bolt to accomodate that. I've loaded over 1000 with mine and and it's just as good now as it was after my first re-adjustment. Alan
  19. Anyone know if bladtech or other makes a kydex holster that is USPSA legal, that will fit a springfield Armory with a custom squared off trigger guard? Thanks in advance, Alan
  20. Just curious if anyone had built or used a Titanium comp on an AR.... I've sent John and email at SJC to see what the possibilities are, but I suspect he's gonna tell me that it's too brittle of a material for a comp on an AR and that it would crack/break easily... Just thot I'd check to see what other thot or have tried. I hate all that weight acting as a fulcrum out there at 18-20" Alan
  21. One caveat, none of the scopes were illuminated, daylight or dark... Alan
  22. Not only that, but if you want specific knobs, you can select that, and you can specify the markings or increments on the knobs. Also, if you select V-II, there is also a 1-4 score, but about 2x the amount of the V-I Alan
  23. Just heard from Mike. He's building up orders all weekend and will give me an update on who's orders are being filled. Yeah, more good news... Alan
  24. On their site, it says which ones fit and which don't... I have a DD Omega on mine and it worked out of the box, not problem. Alan
  25. Just a quick update, nothing really new to report. Those that are waiting will be contacted directly by Mike to finalize the order. I've provided him the list that I gathered. I've asked him in return to send me back that list with some notes as to who's been filled and who hasn't so that I can help with inquiries of what waiting order people are in. He had original said that he was going to filling orders prior to Christmas. I hope that's correct. If you were on my list and you get one (I know a couple who have), please post back here with successful receipt. This will help others that monitor this thread and me out with knowing the pipeline is flowing (might be a trickle, but anything is better than nothing - right) . Lastly, I had quite a list of inquiries spread out since the summer when I started this effort, I do not know how many units Mike did. I do expect however that he'll fill them all, it just may mean that it will occur in different lots. I know he has the bases cast in lots for example. So, there, hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a CasePro 100 is wrapped under the tree, if not, hang in there - as they say, "good things come to those that wait" Alan
