  1. Sorry, my mistake. Makes sense to me shooting what you carry.
  2. I don't understand your dilemma. If you've carried a 1911 what's the deal with the 5" Pro? Having extra bb's is always a good thing. My comp is a 5" Pro 40, Limited Major or Minor depending on my loads. With a 40 to 9mm barrel it's Limited minor and a ESP gun. (9mm mags already on hand) My carry guns rotate between M&P compact and full size, 4.25" guns. Gun handling requires little thought since it's pretty much hardwired with air soft / dry fire practice and match play thus allowing more thought for awareness and avoidance.
  3. Yes, I've heard many Glocks run 11# recoils springs. They can and do that without any problems, not so with the M&P.
  4. Many of us have gone down the path you're on. Sure you can get ultra lite loads to work sometimes if you reduce the striker spring weight or length. Then using Fed primers, crossing your fingers, etc... I've settled on the 15# ISMI on the factory guide rod and I just load them with enough power to safely and reliably run the gun. Off hand I don't remember my 147gr load. How accurate is you load at 25, 40 and 50 yards? Low power factor is cool but you have to hit the "A" zone or the 'mikes' will kill your score.
  5. I'm no 'smith but I'd blast away and see if things don't smooth out on there own. I never tried what you're doing at that round count but I did have mine react the same way when mine was dirty if I didn't slam the bolt back really HARD. Maybe the bolt / receiver need to smooth out a little before it'll hand cycle.
  6. How many rounds thru the gun? Have you taken out the bolt / shell release and clean out the under side? I've read the JM uses a automotive flat type fuse that's bent to remove the small cotter pin, Here's a video of someone else taking his apart. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ClT6QWQ93U
  7. If that $$$ is correct then you could build one from a Sportsman like we did for my friend Sean, Or get a Sportsman and have Benny, Mark , Jeff C. or your favorite builder make one really ready to play with. FYI, no need to pay extra $$$ for knurled extended choke tubes when Rem sells them for <$17@
  8. Mine used to have problems not releasing a round when I hand cycled it. This started after many rounds of use but worked OK when live fired. I had noticed that the shell stop was shaving hulls and clippings were getting into the trigger group and behind the shell / bolt stop area. After I cleaned the peels out it worked fine until they got clogged up again. Since then I've reshaped and dehorned the shell stop, no peels and no problems. How many rounds are thru your gun?
  9. I'm not sure how many rounds I've had thru my gun since the HD hammer spring was installed, maybe 2K?.. I had an extraction problem this past weekend and tonight I was taking the bolt apart to inspect the extractor and spring. While looking at the firing pin I noticed some mushrooming that I hadn't seen before. The hammer face has remained unchanged but the firing pin is approx. 0.010" shorter than another firing pin I have. I still haven't had any light strikes since the HD spring was installed but wanted to share my findings.
  10. Looking at their calendar it's time for another match. http://www.gateway3gun.com/schedule.html Their first USPSA match was cancelled last week due to unscheduled work making bigger berms. With many shooters heading to Rolla for the Fall Classic, and other match's, this should move real fast plus make better odds at winning the random draw gun. http://g3goct.whindo.com/event/default.aspx?lock=2438649-0-0-0-0-0-21661-0-17663-0&key=5bbad89fc58bf16
  11. Thanks! Been waiting for one of these. Here's the +2 I got from Roulette you think you might want a little bit more. http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/HunterMKIII2245/shotgun/IMG_00041_zps8768d633.jpg
  12. In a M&P Pro, 5", I like MG cmj or PD fmj 200 gr over 4.5 to 4.7 of Universal clays. Shoots soft and makes major but pretty accurate, at least for a M&P. LOL. YMMV. I installed adjustable DP sights so I can dial in what ever I want.
  13. I guess we read some of the same threads. Here's how I see it. Mossberg mag tube is size "A" at both ends. then comes the mag nut "A" on one side "B" on the other. Then comes extension with "B" on one end and "C" on other. Here comes MXT, both ends have "B" threads. Old style caps have "C" threads and won't work with MXT tubes.
  14. That's the thing. I was at a two day SG match in Sparta this year and asked the guy from SS about getting an XXL. He told me the MXT was the way to go and not everybody was getting and extra round using the XXL. (Heck no you won't get an extra round if you're using a longer, non factory, follower). He told me I didn't need to get the Mag tube nut extension, just the tube, spring and cap. That's why it was around $50 instead of the $80. Fair deal but not what I was looking for. My guess it that Roulette will probably make whatever shooters are looking for. The guy runs a machine shop and does this SG stuff for fun. Lucky us!
  15. I think I seen the same gun you've mentioned. I'm sorry I find it hard to believe, the picture I seen looked brand new. I know he said it had been re-blued but even the Mossberg label looked brand new. Maybe it's me, but I like the look of a well used gun. I guess if I had plenty of extra $$$ I'd have a different view but heck the lack of $$$ led me to the JM in the first place. I'm still happy with my choice but I did talk a good friend out of getting the JM and into the VM. He bought the Sportsman and we're doing the mods and building it up for 3 gun much cheaper than getting the tactical or their latest version. The VM internals are really slick. Time will tell as we battle it out.
  16. When the XXL cap was impossible to find and Nordic was telling me to just buy their new MXT tube, cap and spring I was a little disappointed with them. I wanted a $20 cap not $50+ for the other stuff. Then Roulette quickly replied to my request with a "heck yes, we can do that" answer. Who do you think I'd recommend? Yes, the XXL is cheaper than the +1. Yes, Nordic is a great sponsor to many match's and shooters should support them. But if someone wants a +1 and +2 they can get it for one shipping price from Roulette.
  17. Don't you know these things are junk? Everybody says it so you may as well just buy a real shotgun and forget about the JM. Never mind that Jerry Miculek uses this poorly designed gun to beat everybody. Just kidding, glad to read it's working out for you. Same thing here, boringly reliable now.
  18. I don't care how they're packed. My mail man HATES me. I think he asked for a different route or may be out on disability because I haven't seen him for a while.
  19. After running a few tubes thru my Roulette +2 I look forward to adding a +1 to my range bag. http://shop.roulettetactical.com/Standard-Nordic-Caps_c3.htm Roulette Tactical is great to deal with and true fans of the sport. I read on this forum it's good to be able to select 9, 10 or 11 before the match depending how stages are designed. What's funny is that the +2 worked with the factory spring. The mag loaded easy and shot all eleven without any problems. The factory spring (thinner wire) sticks out 13" above tube and I had to cut a new Wolff XP spring (thicker wire) to 11" before it would work. I have a Nordic low drag follower that's too long to allow +2, same thing happened when I tried the Nordic XXL cap that my friend loaned me. I'll trim that followed down and it should work just fine.
  20. I don't see this as a Matchsaverz caused problem but a loading quickly and bolt closing detonation problem. If I throw a shell in and hit the bolt release too soon I can see where it could go off if stuck by the extractor. There's been many reports of the 1911 40 cal lighting off a round when the primer hit the ejector during unload and show clear. Stuff happens! Ask Todd Jarrett he got bit on that one. It's good to be aware of this since safety starts between the ears but shooting sports do have risks with the possibility of grave consequences.
  21. You might want to check out what Roulette Tactical has come up with for the old style Nordic tubes. +1 and +2 caps. http://shop.roulettetactical.com/ I'm playing with their +2 and it works great with stock spring and follower on a 24" JM 930.
  22. If you call Mossberg , with your purchase date and serial number at hand, and tell them the problem they may send you another spring. I lost the latch retaining pin clip accidentally during cleaning and they sent me two pins and two clips, no charge. I've run my factory mag spring for the last year and a half without any problems, so I don't think this spring was junk. Yes springs do get weak but yours was damaged before you had a chance to shoot it. I do have two new springs and will be fitting these for my +1 and +2 caps when they arrive from Roulette Tactical. Yes, the Mossberg QC sucks but these guns do seem to work pretty good.
  23. I have a similar tru glo "glow dot" front sight on one of my other shotguns and have used tape to block out my dominant eye when shooting tap. But when running 3 guns blocking out my good eye just doesn't make sense. My scores would be even lower than they already are if I did that. You might want to try those mini zip ties to keep you sight in place.
  24. I'm right handed and left eye dominant too, my right eye is very weak but corrected to 20/20 with contacts. My left eye, the good one has a multi focal contact. These methods may be wrong but work for me. With pistol I shoot with both eyes open and my left eye does the job. For rifle I shoot left handed off the left shoulder with both eyes open. Then for shotgun I shoot right handed with my left eye closed using H-Viz 4 in 1 sights. They're kind of cheap, being made of plastic, so I use two small zip ties to keep the front sight in place. After several months of dumping this in a barrel it still holds up well. http://www.hivizsights.com/products/shotgun-sights/turkey-deer-sight-sets/four-in-one.html
