  1. Nothing happened. With the bolt forward it prevents movement of the shell release.
  2. Would you please post a link? When I look it up. it doesn't show anything. Thank you!
  3. Yes, I made my own and ten packs for a few of my friends. I resize / de-prime and then fill the primer pocket with black silicone. After the silicone is dry I use tumbling media equal to the powder charge, wad, lead shot, crimp and finish it off with a hot glue gun. If you know anyone that loads shot shells ask them what they'd charge you to load up some dummy rounds.
  4. Mine seemed loose from day one. I installed a Mesa 8 round side saddle and tighten until the play is gone. Blue Loctite is needed to keep it together or it will loosen during extended use. http://mesatactical.com/products/sureshell-carrier-for-moss-930-8-shell-12-ga/
  5. Mine was weak at some point over 2K. If you store the gun with the bolt locked back that would have the hammer cocked and the spring compressed. IMHO not the way the gun should be stored.
  6. Ive ran about 600 rounds through mine now with Wallmart bulk packs. I shoot Federal though and have not had any cycling issues. I did have a round not fire yesterday on one of the 3GN classifiers, cycled the bolt by hand, kicked out the shell and I inspected it after the stage. It did not have any striker mark on it at all. This is the first time this has happened to me. Ill be placing an order this week for the 10/22 extra power spring and hope it gets here before the shotgun match this Sunday. Without a strike mark I'd look elsewhere for your guns' issue. Dirty piston, rings, tube, piston bore, bolt or anything that would keep it from going into battery. All my failures had a light strike and they fired with a second strike, no matter what ammo it was. No problems since the 10/22 spring.:
  7. Try mounting the popper and flipper on a plywood base. It unitizes them and the popper won't keep sinking into the ground. It makes the toss much more consistent. I was talking with the G3G MD last weekend about this thread. He said they were using the White Flyer clays and thatat he should have wrapped duct tape around the cushion to insulate the bolt head from popping the clays when the foam compressed. When we were resetting the stage I thought it was cool that poppers and flippers were bolted to plywood as mentioned above. Yes, I'm sure it was heavier to move but stage set-up and teardown was probably a lot easier this way.
  8. The four stages that you didn't see in my video were really really really bad! I'm not trying to hijack this thread but a "Jesse Blooper Stages" video of your biggest stage crashes would be fun to watch. Certainly a learning video on "what not to do".
  9. exactly what happen to my shooting buddy's JM 930. Any idea on how many rounds through his? Did he just file it off? Does he still have the gun? Thanks, I'll keep my eye's open for this during clean up time.
  10. Cool video, thanks for posting it. If you came in third those other two must have really been smoking it.
  11. I'm sorry to read it's still stuck, hopefully some cycling will loosen things up for you. Thanks for the piston / ring picture. It's funny that mine came with the seal ring off, just like the Mossberg parts diagram, and so did a friend of mines' JM Pro. Not knowing any better I ran mine like this for about 2K rounds until I seen a you tube video showing the cleaning of the piston assembly. Good luck with your charge handle, keep us posted. Steve
  12. Where did you buy it from? Maybe take it back to where you bought it and have them give it a pull. Since this is your first take down would you please tell me about the piston, ring and seal ring arrangement? Was the seal ring installed inside the piston ring on the piston or was is sitting loose on top of the piston and ring? Good luck and thanks. Steve
  13. Go for it, and please let us know what you come up with. I was looking for a "fix" to a problem and Mark came up with a great idea. IIRC, he cut a couple coils off on his but I went for "easy" and just stuck the whole spring in.
  14. I can't tell any difference compared to the stock spring but I probably don't have the experience to tell the difference. After three more boxes thru it the other day I took it down for a good cleaning, man this thing was dirty. The piston and rings were sticking really bad and the tube was carboned up. I cleaned everything really well and applied some Fire Clean to see if that helps with future clean up. I did not see any signs of hammer peening or mushrooming of the firing pin. I had a match today so I went to the range yesterday and ran two boxes thru it to make sure all was good, then shot about five more boxes today while letting another guy borrow it for two stages. He REALLY liked how it ran and loaded. For me this issue is resolved, it was the hammer spring causing my light strikes.
  15. After another 3 boxes thru mine today that makes 210 rounds without a problem since I installed the XP 10/22 hammer spring.
  16. I had already ran through the piston, rings, return (recoil) spring and other items already mentioned and continued to have problems up to last Sunday. This week I installed the 10/22 spring, without cleaning ANYTHING on the gun. Today I ran three more problem free boxes (two Fed. and one my reloads) through it for a total of around 135 with ZERO issues with the new hammer spring.( On 7/30/13, I shot 60 rounds w/new spring, Message #18 http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=178449 ) Next week I'll burn a couple more boxes then strip it down for a good cleaning before next weekends local G3G match. If your guns not having a problem I wouldn't replace a thing. As mentioned clean all the above items very well and maybe have a HD 10/22 spring ready to go if needed. I chased the sticking piston, not going into battery angle as far as I could go, (new piston, rings, springs) but mine still had issues. As of right now my JM 930 is running as good as when I first got it.
  17. At least those two springs are listed and possibly available from Mossberg. http://mossberg.com/manuals/930_935.pdf
  18. I cleaned and polished the tube. Scraped every particle out of the pistol bore. Polished the bore with steel wool on a brush. New firing pin. Replaced the piston return spring, recoil spring and installed a new piston. This new piston with ring and seal was cleaned with Brownells friction defense and wiped dry. Of course the bolt has been taken apart, cleaned and lubed with FD also. When I bought this new it ran like the energizer bunny. USed to be able to run several hundred rounds through it without skipping a beat. I'll be at the range again Friday to run some more rounds through it.
  19. Taran does all the features, plus some new ones. My M2 is at Taran's shop now getting converted. I've been keeping an eye on the various custom Benellis at all the matches I shot this year. I had my pick of smiths to send it to, and Taran got my business. I don't know if he's working on Mossbergs but if you're going to spend the money on a fancy custom gun, why start with a Mossberg? I'd rather spend a couple hundred more for a Benelli. Not just for the cool factor but the resale value when you finally upgrade will more than make up the difference. Makes sense. Kinda like spending money getting a Taurus 1911 or KIA tricked out. After all that good money spent you still just have a Taurus 1911 or a KIA.
  20. Thanks. The real credit should go to Mark for pointing out the 10/22 hammer spring. That's the ticket! Thank you Mark! Steve
  21. I shot 50 rounds of Fed. paper target loads, size 9, 2 3/4 dram and 10 rounds of Fed. Ultra, size 7 1/2, 3 drams tonight without any issues. One in the chamber, nine in the tube. Timer went off and I was chucking charoal brickets in the air and blasting away. I shot this stage at a match earlier this month and still need more practice.
  22. Yesterday during two rounds of trap I had one more light strike, dimpled the primer and fired on the second try. Federal Ultra ammo. Well today in the mail my Wolff order arrived. On my cheapo scale the wire size appears to be the same. The original spring has 18 coils and is 1.360" long with the 10/22 spring having 20 coils and is 1.740" long. I swapped it out tonight without any modification. It fit right in and the trigger pull is still right at 4 1/4 lbs, unchanged. I might get to the range tomorrow, if not I'll be there on Friday.
