    Wisdom

Seems like an demonstration of wisdom often had a component of "acceptance" involved....or at least a lack of trying. Haven't noticed any great displays of wisdom lately. It doesn't draw attention to itself.
  5. I didn't know you was waving da late fees, Homie! I sent mah chek in tday aready. But, it's all good. More for the prize table. Yes, it will be a great match, don't miss out!
  6. Joe, that's a great post you just shared. It really does all come down to seeing the sights and calling the shots. There are just so many other factors involved in IDPA match shooting. Col Whelen said, "Only accurate rifles are interesting". And I agree, accuracy is interesting. And accuracy at high speed is simply fascinating! I think your day was the "best", because you had never experienced a day like it before. And here's the beautiful thing! With the right mind set, every day can be the "best".
  7. I have experienced this too. I have wondered if this was the reason: Matches come and go. We win some, we lose some. But, being a shooter is a way of looking at things. Seeking to do well in a particular match is really just a temporary attraction. Not what we are really after....?
  8. The most important thing is to be ever present. Calling the shot and all other fundamentals are degraded by the urge to be "finished".
  9. Brian, trust is something that I feel, as opposed to something that I arrive at through a process of mental reasoning. The human mind is really over-rated. We give it credit for all sorts of things. And I'll admit that it's pretty good at some things, like finding new and ever more inventive ways of killing each other. (Man, now that's clever!) We even have tests to measure mental capacity. A person can have a friggin genius IQ and still not discover the ebb and flow of life. Our society has conditioned most people to believe that "knowing" comes from thinking. (Actually, arrogance comes from thinking. ) TRUST comes from KNOWING. KNOWING comes from BEING. The test to measure spiritual capacity (BEingness)is underway presently.
  10. Trust is not a mental process. This is where we stumble into seekingtrust.
  11. Consciousness of time always casts a shadow over the present action.

  13. C'mon, Patrick! The suspense is killin me! What is the mystery question about this obscure pistol? If you don't already know it and have exhausted all of your resources, it's got to be a doozy.....
  14. These threads are the best!

  16. I can ask the Sheriff. He knows and knows those who knows.
  17. "Rich like Ft. Knox".....Hmmmm.
  18. You should have told them you were with a Mexican drug cartel. Personal service, no hassles.
  19. Hi, Hotchkiss! No, you probably won't see gloves used very often. But, at one of the more extreme 3 gun matches I've shot, the ITRC, we did use gloves. Because, after 300 rounds of handgun in under ten minutes, the pistols literally were to hot to touch. Doc's fiber optic front sight even melted on his STI, and the carbines got pretty warm too. But, normally, people won't use them. I don't think there are any rules against it, but dexterity is the big trade-off.

    Note to self:

Standing in the check out aisle at the local grocery, it's hard to keep a straight face. The Governator's "love child"! The actress turned shoplifter. And this week, the legislative licentiousness. Then, there are "celebs", who bacome "celebs", simply because they have been accused of some crazy crime. Chuck Manson was one of the first, now comes this chick, accused of killing her little girl, in the MSM circus. I like putting on my ear muffs and loosing a bunch of rounds downrange to help drown out the insanity. And yes, it is insanity. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. So, I choose to laugh.
  22. The deciding factor for me lately has been ammo cost. I'm shooting alot of 9mm lately. S&W M&P for Production and 1911 Caspian for Steel Challenge.
