  1. I would like to see figures on the total amount of economic stimulus that occurs each time talk of a gun ban goes viral. Every few years this kind of talk gets started, and sales of the "offending" device...magazine...whatever, skyrocket. But, there is no related increase in violent crimes. Hmmmm..... I just hope that all these new gun buyers join their local clubs and start to enjoy the sport!
  2. Right on A45100! The game has always been people control. Gun Control is just a sub-set. How do you disarm 200 million free people who love their guns and freedom? Only one way...... The very good-hearted, law abiding, and well intentioned gun owners must be convinced that they are morally wrong. The people who are trying to take our freedom do not have morals! They are as sinister as any villain in a twisted Hollywood horror flick. But, they know we do have strong morals, and they love to play that card. We must all join together now! It's time call BS on the whole gun control\people control game! Please, let us not argue with each other over anything. It is time to act as one. Example: If I knocked on someones door and asked them to kindly kill the fellow down the block. No one would obey. But, let someone from a position of authority say that there is a duty to kindly kill the fellow down the block, and the request gets carried out with total obedience. There is evil a foot, my friends! Very great evil. GW said " Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely." Do not obey!
  3. "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee." John Donne It is the System that governs the world which is evil. Nation states run by a worldwide banking empire are incarcerating, enslaving, and killing us all, like so many heads of cattle. I wish people could see, it doesn't matter what nation we live in. It doesn't matter which political party or religious belief we hold to. There is only one race! The Human Race. I liked Bob Marley's take on it. "Will ya let the system make ya kill ya brother man? No, No, No!"
  4. I can't remember if this YouTube vid was ever linked on these forums. It's about 20 minutes long and details the experience of a brain scientist recalling her own aneurysm. The first five minutes or so, she sounds a bit like a shooter describing the difference between a good stage and a bad one. Cool stuff....if you're into science??
  5. Yeah, conspiracies never actually happen..... That would meant that evil people actually "got together" and "planned" something! Crap, that will never happen! Evil just doesn't cooperate with evil! just some tin foil hat dudes have theories that they do...... Nothing to see here.....move along.... The roof line of WTC Building 7 fell 47 stories to the street in 6.7 seconds (at the speed of free fall). It was never hit by a plane load of diesel. Hell, that sounds real reasonable to me.
  6. Thanks for the review, bierman! Sounds pretty cool! Maybe I'll go to town and see this one....
  7. Yes, I believe you can do this without any problems.
  8. Jimmy, that is very interesting..... I never associated the amount of dry fire practice with how well it helped me visualize. DUH! Dry fire practice is pretty much visualization..... Sometimes I just come to the party late.....
  9. I never put much faith in visualization until I started to shoot in higher levels of competition. Even then, it seemed kind of like wishful thinking for a while. But, I have come to understand how the things that we clearly visualize (set our minds on with clear intent) actually do manifest. The problem I had was the same one that causes most of our problems. Faith! I had a lot more faith in trying than I did in visualizing. So, even when I did visualize a stage, trying usually prevailed. Now, it's clear to me that whatever I clearly visualize before the beep, is pretty much how I going to shoot the stage. Trying doesn't have a job anymore. Everyone of us is a little bit different in how we preocess information. But, this is what I know to be true for me: If I don't do a detailed visuaization and just let it flow, I will try. Trying in itself is defeat. Think about what the word means. I tried... but I struck out. I tried...but I came up short. The very word is an excuse! For me this is a true statement: "I tried....because I did not visualize and flow with it.
  10. Yes, please give us your evaluation of the movie. I read the books years ago, high school days. Never made all the connections to the things we hold precious until years later.
  11. I tend to remember a stage exactly as I visualized it in the walk through. I have observed, more than once, if I didn't pay close attention to a target on the walk through, I failed to even see it on the shoot through....
  12. Hahaha! I love these threads! We live in a 3D world. Time is the 4th deminsion! It only exists, in the human mind. I've read various exlpainations of why the mind creates time. But, it's really only useful to understand that the mind does create it. The universe exists outside of time. I think my dog does too... When time seems to disappear.... we are in a place of no mind. There is always a conflict when we are directed by the mind. The mind makes maps from previous experiences. Especially, when we compare our past shooting experiences with the shooting that we are doing in the present. These maps are inaccurate....because, as Heraclitus observed, no man steps into the same river twice. The reason that an absence of time seems so scary, is that the egoic mind cannot exist without time. So, the egoic mind can interpret a lack of time as.... death. At some level all fear is a fear of death. (hey, what's the worst thing that can happen? uh..you die!) The fact is you cannot die! Our consciousness is eternal. Science has proven conclusively that consciousness does not reside within the body, but is only associated with it. Shooting is cool, because, for someof us, it is a pathway to the realm outside of time.... A glimpse of reality.....
  13. What's the harm in combining a few good quotes.....
  14. As my friend Ron Ankeny likes to say: " sometimes, you gotta make 'em eat their vegetables." It's always more fun if we just shoot the stage. Judging a stage as "easy or hard" is never productive.
  15. Damn.....I wanted to change my name to World Peace....
  16. The Set....one of my favorite be posts of all time!
  17. Beautiful post, Brian! Time is an illusion. It cannot be proven to exist outside of human experience. Everyone claims to experience time, in one way or another. But, how do we know what that it holds the same value for each of us? Yes, Ego must be present for time to have a Mental yardstick. My dog can sense love and also fear. For, these emotions actually produce brain wave activity. But, time lacks a source of energy, so it has no substance. Or to state it another way, eternity lives. But, time is dead.
  18. Don't be so tough on yourself. For the amount of time and effort invested, you are doing well. Relax and enjoy the journey. Your scores will improve....
  19. There is a point where competing to "win" or "lose" becomes totally irrelevant. You may reach this point if you ever come to the full realization that there is no "I". Then, it's irrelevant if "I" win or "I" lose. Competing for other reasons may never lose relevance. Depends on the motivation......

    Going Solar!

Heheheheh....knew you folks would be up to something. Gotta get a wind charger next.....Hey, it's WYOMING! Wind we have.

    Going Solar!

Some of the things that keep me from shooting....are still fun things. Posting this here because so many shooters are tinkerers too. Maybe some of you can share your experiences? Today, I installed a 130 watt solar panel to feed my Xantrex 1800 Power Hub. The Power Hub came along a few months ago. Where we live, the power can go off for a long time. (There just aren't enough homes out this way to justify the manpower during an outage.) The Xantrex Power Hub is a pretty cool toy. It normally gets fed by AC line power. But it is pre-wired for wind and solar inputs. Today, I connected the freezer to the Power Hub and disconnected the line power to run completely on solar. My dream is to one day, be totally off the electrical grid! The technical stuff: Using a 200 amp hour lead acid battery. This is a UPS battery, not an automotive type. The freezer should be able to run its 5 amp rated load for 40 hours, if my thinking is correct. But, experience with UPS systems at work has taught me that they usually don't last as long as the ratings claim. We are going to run this one for a one day test, just to see how it goes. When the freezer isn't running, the solar panel charges at 100 watts. When the freezer kicks on, the charge indicator drops to -30.
