  1. No, GSSF pricing is typically a couple bucks more than the First Responder Program pricing.
  2. Wouldn't it be nice to just have a gun that works and didn't destroy itself? One that didn't need special processed brass? One that didn't require you to be BFFs with a gunsmith?
  3. Production is where it's at!
  4. Has that been approved specifically in writing?
  5. Glocks are acurrate, but that might be pushing it Gen 3 G34 shot a best 5 shot group of 1.81" and a Gen 4 G17 shot a best 5 shot group of 1.18" with a Firearms Instructor doing the shooting from a rest. Both groups were shot with HST 124+P. Each pistol shot 5 groups using different ammunition and these were the best groups. Even I'm a little surprised by that. I've always argued they are plenty accurate but that's pretty damn good. A ransom rest would be the ideal test/ I'm surprised the 17 was more accurate than the 34 honestly. Stock barrels in both? That actually doesn't surprise me. The OEM barrel fitting on the half dozen or so gen4s I've owned has been noticeably better than any of the half dozen or so gen3s I've owned.
  6. None of my Gen 4 34s did. Mr. Vrrroooom is right though. The OEM extended release is only .75mm longer, and because of the way the leading edge is radiused while the non-ext. release isn't, the amount of effectively extended area is essentially nil.
  7. If I were dead set on stainless, caspian is the way I'd go. The integral plunger tube option is nice, and you can get the frame and slide with most of the more involved !a hine work done.
  8. With that list of DIY, just get a frame/slide kit from Caspian, STI or Remsport.
  9. I really, really hope it passes! I don't like 40, and 357SIG is cheaper to reload with jacketed bullets. If it does, I'm tracking down a G31 and switching to limited for a little while. I shot an M&P357 when I first started USPSA - I liked it quite a bit. I have yet to own a 357SIG gun that couldn't out-group it's 9/40 counterparts. E.g. I had a G31 that was more accurate than any of the other 8 or so Glocks I've owned, the M&P would keep them significantly tighter than any 9/40 M&P I had. It has a reputation as being one of those cartridges with very good "inherent accuracy" The bottleneck cartridge feeds as well as anything. Reloading it is slightly more involved. Neck tension is a big deal because setback is one of the weaknesses of the cartridge. Once your press is dialed in, it's all good though. I didn't have any issues with the neck splitting, even after a good many reloadings. I did enjoy reloading it more. No .380/38S casings getting mixed in with 9mm brass, no small/large primer sorting needed like 45, and even loosy-goosy Glocks fully support the chamber, so 357SIG brass doesn't get "Glocked," thus no need to roll/push through size like 40. I liked the versatility as well. The production load I used was very mild, but the bowling pin load was HOT. The local bowling pin rules said the same thing as current USPSA, so even though the load was 175ish PF, the pins were set to the minor position. I liked that no one ever wanted to take my brass.
  10. I didn't read all the posts, but Dillon makes super awesome stuff so it can't be the issue. I bet the problem is a wobbly bench.
  11. on 1911s, weak hand thumb, on pretty much everything else, strong hand thumb.
  12. Good advice, remember, Dillon doesn't care if you are the original owner. They only care that the press is a Dillon. Maybe Rob can get the Hornady working. Of course I can. Otherwise you'll never let me here the end of it!
  13. Watch out for those XDms - I heard that the striker will let go at the exact moment the FP block gets stuck as you attempt to holster. Even saw a Youtube video of it in an IDPA match.
  14. A few clubs ran this before the last update. Wi16, for example. Check the stage results, cross reference the HF with classifier record of the person that it shot it, and there ya have it.
  15. At this point it is who he is. It's a given.Ya, its like breathing. I don't have to think about it, it is just going to happen.Tomorrow I'm going to build some dryfire stands, barricades, and ports. It should be interesting. 1/2" PVC works well for stands I built 3 stands for 1/2 size targets and a 3x3 box for $20. I put velcro on the uprights, so I can move targets around or use a cardboard port.
  16. +1 I bought the cheap Harbor Freight ultrasonic. Not a fan. Some cases get brilliantly clean, inside and out. Some don't. I have to reset the thing every 8 minutes. No polishing action, so cases come out clean but dull. When it dies, or I get a few extra bucks, I'm going the SS tumbler route.
  17. Then why is the HHF for "Can you count" the same HF Max Michel laid down? Not an average, and they used the same HHF for all divisions other than revolver? and why are all the HHF in SSTK for almost all the 99 series EXACTLY 5% higher than those in PRD? The explanation, particularly with the "They are always calculated for each division" claim, simply doesn't square with the numbers.
  18. Did you have the internals coated? Is that why your pull was altered? I wouldn't do any internal ignition parts Everything except the sear.
  19. I had 2 CZ shadows done up in NiB. Even with the guts pretty heavily polished before, the coating ended up taking off nearly .5lb of the DA pull, and the gun just felt slicker than teflon snot.. The first one I had done was with CCR. They jerked me around about the time frame the gun would be done in, though the work was good. The 2nd one was done by WMDguns. The work wasn't great, but they made it right.
  20. Shot this over the weekend SSTK - 79pts in 8.62 - HF 9.1647 PRD - 74pts in 7.95 - HF 9.3081 No idea what that's going to be nationally, though I'm pretty anxious to find out.
  21. Mine has been great. I had to replace the batteries after a year of use. "problems" is fairly generalized and could range from "scratches easily" to "spontaneously combusts and destroys my loading room" For what it's worth, I've had neither of those problems, and not found it necessary to search for a fix.
  22. Makes sense to me. It's not too different than motorcycle racing - you don't know how fast you can really go until you go too fast.
  23. Rainier suggests using lead data for their bullets. 5.5gr of Bullseye is crazy hot for that. For reference, 4.8gr pushing 230gr Bayou gives me 809 fps out of a 5" 1911. 5.5gr would be somewhere north of 200PF. If you know what you're doing with BE, it's actually a very good powder. A little dirty, but consistent, not horribly temp sensitive, very accurate and CHEAP.
  24. Kroil or some other penetrating oil, soak for 15-20 minutes. Wrap a "Chore boy" (copper scrubbing pad, found in cleaning supply aisle of local Walmart/Meijer/misc. Grocery store) around a brass bristle bore brush so that it fits nice and snug in the bore. Even the thickest leading will come right out.
