  1. Steve, I sent you a PM on this subject. Bill
  2. The .100 Dawson front sight uses a .040 fiber optic. The sight is well worth the price, IMHO. Bill

Try Kevin at KKM Precision. I just emailed with him about the same thing. www.kkmprecision.com Bill
  4. My recommendation. Kent Singletary http://www.kscustom.com/ I've been more than pleased with Kent's work. Bill
  5. I have never fired a CZ, I did handle a couple at last years NRA convention. The ergonomics felt great until I tried the trigger. I didn't like the feel of the trigger or the reach. I now have a Sig X-5 Allaround. It feels better than the CZ, to me at least, and has a better trigger out of the box. Mine never has shot a 2" group at 50 yards because I can't shoot it that well. But I'll bet the gun can do it with the right shooter. The weight of the gun makes shooting a 9mm minor load similar to shooting a .22 LR. There is no flip to speak of. So shot to shot recovery is very quick. The X-5 has been totally reliable and the fit and finish is comparable to a custom built gun. And yes I have custom built guns. I think the Sig is a fantastic gun. Between the two, I choose the Sig and recommend it highly. I'd say try them both, at the least handle them both. See what feels good to you and go from there. Triggers can be worked and will end up comparable. Just don't pay too much attention to the nay sayers. Evaluate positive statements and then check them out yourself. Bill
  6. My suggestion would be to buy the Apex competition trigger kit and RAM, watch the video's and do it yourself. Probably less than an hour's work and around $100 - $125. You will end up with a 2.5 to 3.5 lb trigger that breaks nicely and resets nicely. I've done this and am very happy with the results. Just my .02 worth. Bill
  7. I'd like to vouch for Roger's base pads. I'm using them on a 9MM 226 and get 20 rounds reloadable with slide closed. Roger is a great guy to deal with. Buy with confidence. Bill
  8. You might try Greg Cote. http://gregcotellc.com/cart/ Bill Then again, I see he's out of the 17 round version.
  9. You could try Rudy Warren at Billy Bullets. http://www.billybullets.com/ Moly coated, excellant bullets and a really good guy to deal with. Bill
  10. Bbbean, Thank you for the complement. She, Dixie, is quite a pistol but we love her. Never a dull moment. Glad the tip helped you all with the schedule update. I reported the problem and the workaround to Matt at USPSA. I would expect it will be corrected within a day or so. Bill
  11. Gentlemen, I had the same problem. It seems if you put in 01 for January it fails but if you enter 1 for January it works. I just tried to update our schedule and entered 08 for August. Received the same error as above. However, entering 8 worked fine. It appears this is only true on the month field. Hopefully this helps. Bill
  12. I agree completely with Full Mag. Clean and priced right! Great with Billy Bullets in my .38 Super and .40 S&W. Bill
  13. I had a KKM in an M&P Pro that I recently sold. I can't say positively, i.e. no group comparisons to prove it, but I believe it shot more accurately than the stock barrel. I used both MG 124 gr. JHP and Billy Bullet 125 gr. Moly with equal success. Cleaning was never a problem with the Billy Bullets. The one thing that I did notice, and feel is worth passing on, is that the leade in the KKM barrel is a bit shorter than the stock M&P barrel. If I recall correctly Kevin said it was to SAAMI specs. Regardless, mine was a bit shorter than the factory barrel in that particular gun. I found that I needed to load RN bullets a bit shorter to get consistent lockup. Just something to keep in mine while you start with your new barrel. By the way, I plan to buy another KKM for my current M&P. I like them. Bill
  14. I have a BladeTech DOH for a 5" that I bought for a 625. I currently use it with a 610 with 4" barrel and a 627 with 5" barrel. I think you can go down in barrel length with no problem. Hope this helps, Bill
  15. I bought a 226 X-5 to shoot in Production. It's a big, heavy (45 oz.) chunk of stainless, it has the beavertail and I love everything about it. I believe the beavetail does help get your grip up. The weight of the gun makes 9mm feel like a .22 LR. But then I like a heavy gun. I do not have the Sig SRT kit, so cannot comment on it. I did have work done on the trigger which resulted in a 7.5 to 8 lb. DA trigger and right at 2.25 lb. single action trigger with a nice short reset. With the addition of magazine basepads, I shoot it in Limited(minor). 24 + 1 is a great way to start a Limited stage. The inherent accuracy of the Sig and the light recoil make shooting minor PF in Limited kind of a moot point. My vote is to go for it. Bill Edited to correct some poor English.
  16. Here is a link to Greg Cote's 226 mags, http://gregcotellc.com/cart/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=97_123 I have been using these in my X-5 All Around with excellant results. Price is right. Fast service and a very good guy to deal with.
  17. I can't speak, specifically, to Arredondo base pads on an M&P magazine, however I had 7 of them on XDm .40 mags and they worked fine. They held up for well over a year, worked flawlessly and removed easily. I'd recommend them.
  18. Dave, Send me an email at bill40718@cableone.net. We can talk about trading. Bill
  19. I have a virtually new 6.5" 610, fully Carmonized with heavier trigger for hard primers, about 300 rounds down range. I would consider selling or maybe trading, if you are interested. Bill

    p226 magwell

You are correct. Longitudinally you can flare more than the 1/4" I mentioned. Laterally you cannot. I assumed you were discussing the lateral dimension as you mentioned also flaring the grips. Bill

    p226 magwell

I had to look in the book but here is the bad news. USPSA rule book, Appendix D4 # 22 "No magwell atachments or external flaring of the magwell. The lateral width of the well may not be more than 1/4" wider than the lateral width of the magazine." I doubt that there is much room for widening the well. Hope this helps. Bill
  22. HiPower Jack, I really like Sig's. Just bought a new 226 X-5. I'm not anti-Sig by any means. I am anti Mosquito. I had one, had a local smith work on it a bit. I was never able to get it reliable. Failure to extract, slide locked when it shouldn't, etc. The gun felt good, in my hand, as you say. It was not particularily accurate, but that part could be me. OLD eyes and all that. I'd keep looking! Just my 2 cents worth, take it for what it's worth. Bill
  23. My .02 worth. I have owned Sig's, I currently shoot an M&P Pro in production, a XDm in Limited and a couple revolvers. I tried, i.e. handled and tried the trigger but did not actually fire, a stock CS Shadow. No trigger work on it. Seems like the CZ trigger is really long. But maybe an Angus trigger job would fix that, don't know. I just bought a Sig 226 X-five for my new production gun. I like the heavy gun, the Sig accuracy and the trigger. Just not the price. BUT I whole heartedly agree with Burningsquirrels, go shoot them both and make a choice. I really don't think you would be unhappy with whichever you choose. Good luck with you decision, Bill Edit to fix my lousy spelling.
  24. I agree with WiskeyTango. The stroke is important. I use both S1000 and Autocomp in a 650, one measure with an Arredondo bar the other with a Dillon bar. Both meter fine, well within .1 grain, as long as I do my part and keep the stroke consistent and no harsh handling of the roller handle. Good luck, Bill Editd because my spelling s-----ks.
  25. I love to shoot and I love to compete, mostly with myself. It's great to watch the hit factor and percentage go up. So I checked the first three. If I'm ever able to "Kick A$$" I'll be sure to come back and complete my vote. Bill
