  1. I guess I realy don't rate as I don't shoot heavy. Sorry for poking my head into this. I do want to see what happens and what the shooters choose.
  2. I added an addtional floating strap to a VTAC sling giving me the best of both. Jay
  3. I have not seen it yet with 1 pistol hit, I have seen 1 rifle hit as the 308 is a devistating hit in most cases and we adopted that as well but still require 2 pistol hits with 45. Jay
  4. I also chuck it and drill it at least 1 time per year.
  5. I use slide glide on the rails of the bolt in the warm months.
  6. Mid match change up to another gun is usually due to a gun going down so you would need range master approval. Even with that most rules will stipulate a similar gun.
  7. As stated above, go for it and DIY. I have done my nova and my 2 benelli M1's. Cut with a chop saw and sand it even with a belt sander. Trapr has a nice photo tutorial on their Red Neck Tactical facebook page. jay
  8. We bought 45 of them and are very pleased, thanks Matt and Josh.
  9. I have time for a couple posts finally. I want to thank all the shooters for attending. Your demands as a shooter are what keep this match rolling. Individuals that I want to thank again are Jarmo Kumpala at Nordic for his support and that of right hand man Kenny Anderson. Kennys good buddy Shane Zepplin helped out with printing your match books and keeping the website up and running. All the match sponsors contributed to an outstanding prize table. Please take a moment ...to contact them and let them know your appreciation. Give them your business as they are supporting our addiction. Another thank you to Kevin Roesner for helping with the prize table and for arranging for the 2 Task Force Dagger shooters, Tyler Harrell and Sean Jeager, to attend. Great to meet you both Sean and Tyler. Thank you for giving so much to this country gentleman. Randy Luth, of Luth-AR stepped up and opened up his sponsor slots to these 2 warriors, thanks Randy. Chris Nessinger of the Veterans Sportsmans Alliance contacted me about attending with another American Warrior injured for his country, Matt Waters. Thanks for you for your service Matt. It was great to meet you both. Evan Moyer of ShootSteel.com opened up his match slot to Matt. Thanks Evan. The staff was excellent to work with and knocked out the set up, shooting there own match and tear down in record time. We could not have done it without your support. I know you give up shooting a great match yourself so you can provide for the other shooters. Jay
  10. Jansen, we still have the dummy, will make it a point to bring him out of retirement.
  11. I got everything but the pizza.....I need to get more hardcore next year and integrate pizza into my stage plans. If you stick around long enough at the beer garden they will feed you to try and make you sleepy enough to leave. Huge thanks to the MN 3-Gun Group and Ron "Burgundy" Westberg for picking up the tab on the pies. Those pizzas are worth coming to Forest Lake for all by themselves. Pizza, I don't remember any Pizza. Shhh
  12. Not sure what the Mobile is, if it is a van with Benelli parts then No. They are not sponsoring the match. Jay
  13. Shooters, I've had some questions about a particular topic. Here is what was posted. "Friday, June 26th is the staff shoot day. The staff will be shooting all 14 stages in a marathon day. The range will remain closed to everyone outside of the match staff until 4PM when the registration check-in opens. All shooters must check-in before they are allowed to pre-view the stages. Please stay clear of any stages where the staff is shooting. Registration check-in will be at the main clubhouse from 4PM to 7PM." For the consistency and reputation of the match we enacted this registration requirement and closed range policy. Please don't put the RO's in a position to have to ask you to leave the range. Thanks for your understanding, Jay
  14. Again, after Day 1 of the shoot we will have a free beer garden for choir practice. I'm headed out early next week to pick up all the beer. So, if there is a particular kind you like. GO buy it yourself. Seriously, buy it yourself. No really, stay after and enjoy some social hour. See you all in a few days. Jay
  15. I think a good way to provide some level ground for the 2 different types of rifles would be to allow the 1x the option of a bipod. Jay
  16. We will set the match to be somewhere around 300 total Target engagements. We have a cabelas, gander mountain, dicks, and match Gold Sponsor FLEET FARM all within 20 min of range. Jay
  17. Say what??? So we all gotta come unprepared because some guys don't practice. It be nice to know slug and buck distance as that is something that is expensive to waste a lot of practicing distances we won't shoot. Jesse, go up 2 posts, I posted 70 yards on slugs. Jay
  18. you wont need more than 20 slugs and 20 buckshot for actual engagements. plus or minus a miss or a dropped shell. But we havent even ironed out the stages as of yet. Jay
  19. I was instructing this weekend and cant count the times i had to reiterate to the shooters to load their rifles with the muzzle pointed to the berm. You cant bring a slam back but we can decide where it goes by our loading actions. Jay
  20. Thank you for the kind words, hope you can make it next year. We have had very little movement on the waiting list as the demand has been high. Jay
  21. I will add to your Idea. Rail Mag mounted vertical to hold that in place. maybe even one on each side, make it real wide. Designed by my coworker
  22. Well, it's not a stretch to note that 3-Gun rules are often poorly, or at least vaguely, written, and as competitive as people in this sport are, it's not surprising that folks will try to push the limits. I have no problem with that. My personal philosophy on rules is that anything that is not explicitly prohibited should be permitted, because I don't want either ROs or shooters guessing as to what is allowed. If I were starting from a blank slate, my Tac-Ops rules would probably say something about (1) allowable magazine configuration (no drums), (2) no on-gun supporting devices (any allowed mag can be used for support when inserted), and (3) you can't leave behind anything except a detachable magazine or loose ammo. That would mean you can bring a bag or shooting stick with you, but you better carry it until the last shot is fired. But that's in hypothetical rules land, not specific to the OP's question. no drums huh, a drum like the x product 50 may be the best tactical option for someone working out of a vehicle, and youd have a tough time supporting off of it from the ground. For a game that is fast moving I'd point out that although I dont use one it is definitly a viable feeding option for the gun and still holds 10 less than surefire 60. As for a squeeze bag, no way, unless it is attatched to the rifle and not removed for entire match. Cant f9inish my thoughtm , got a 3 year old tugging on my arm. jay
  23. I have one as well, cant answer about railess, but it would be supper easy to cut off and sand smooth. Jay
