  1. Because the entire point of the old procedure was to recreate what the competitor did, and now we're resetting the popper. Not touching it or messing with it at all was part of what we were testing. Now we're just testing if a sub minor hit will send it down (twice), which isn't the same thing.
  2. Committing a crime is an issue whether you think it is an issue or not. This is not a joke: that law, if applied, could send people to jail. It's not as if it's just a fine or they take your stuff. This ain't a speeding 1-10 over.
  3. Maybe the rule should just change to steel must fall to score. If the RO doesn't call "stop" and there isn't any obvious range equipment failure, then maybe it should just be scored as shot. I'm not sure what the ideal rule is, but the new one that involves resetting the popper is not it.
  4. I can't wait to see who gets crowned the 2022 USPSA Open-15 and Limited-15 national champions. Not stay at home, just have to bring compliant equipment. Glad I'm being told as a USPSA member that I should have to choose between signing up for the nationals and violating the law (especially where we're talking about an actual crime that carries potential jail time, not just a fine/forfeiture of the equipment). I wonder if New Jersey or New York are going to host the Open-15 or Open-8 Division championship next year.
  5. Given my job and my oath, I can't violate the law just because it's unlikely I'd get caught. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
  6. I'd love to know what the NROI says about that one. It doesn't specify if all competitors are restricted by law or not. We literally have a situation here where competitive equity is determined by whether you owned the magazine prior to 2013. It's also not clear to me how I'd prove I've had continuous possession of my magazines. Usually I don't worry about this stuff too much but this is a serious problem.
  7. yeah I don't know how that's going to work. Good thing I've had my Limited gun for longer than the effective date of the ban.
  8. I wouldn't know, as I had a Fat Rat, and the body taper probably had a substantial influence on why it fed like crap and I don't have it any more.
  9. I have a 26" bull barrel 20 practical. It shoots like a laser but it's not a gun you want to carry anywhere.
  10. I don't believe anyone who was there when it was employee-owned is even left, not anyone I knew anyway. It might have been imperfect as STI, but the current company is unrecognizable compared to what STI once was.
  11. Other things to consider: The mags aren't the best. 7.62x39 really doesn't fit very well in an AR mag (grendel is the same basic shape, both have the same parent). 6mm is a better fit for the powder capacity than 6.5 22 with a larger case (ARC or Grendel) and 90s might be better at 1000 than even 6mm. It really depends on what you want to use it for. I had a 6mm Fat Rat, other than the mags and feeding, it was awesome, but in the end, it wasn't worth the price premium over 223. It had more ballistic power, but at 600 yards it doesn't matter (maybe if it's crazy windy), and beyond that, I'm usually shooting a bolt gun anyway. It filled a niche that I thought was important in my head, but in real life, it didn't. Especially where ranges are known, either from a rangefinder or because you're on a known distance range. I sold my bolt and barrel, installed a similar profile 223 barrel on my rifle, and I am actually surprised how much a 20", scoped, DMR style AR rifle is. It's useful for almost anything that needs shooting with a rifle.
  12. You should certainly be able to get a Limited gun for $2000 and an Edge should do a fine job for you. If you wait until December or January, you might even be able to get one for $1500 or so. I have had my STI Eagle for 12-13 years and it's still going strong with new mag springs and followers this year. It's sad that STI is gone, but their guns were the best value at their price point and you won't be disappointed. Don't feel like you're giving anything up by running an Edge instead of something else. I'm willing to bet with the right springs and a few tweaks to the sear spring, you likely couldn't tell an Edge from a custom gun anyway.
  13. If your question is whether extraction issues are related to a striker spring, I suspect the answer is about as close to "no" as one could opine on the internet without having inspected the pistol.
  14. The only 180 break I recall making at a match happened to be a major match about 11 years ago. It wasn't close. When I am standing 20 feet behind you and to your left and I see the right side of your barrel bushing, it isn't close. Nobody is calling anyone on a 180 at 91 degrees from downrange, although let's face it, nobody should be that close and stages should be constructed so as to discourage anyone from getting that close. The one I called was not only 30 degrees past the 180, his gun was pointed uprange enough that if it fired, the berm wouldn't have caught it and we would have had a bullet flying across the range Area 5 style. As much as it sucks to DQ or be DQed in that scenario, I'm glad our sport is strict on this, there's really no room to be pointing your gun uprange ever....and if you do and get to go home, hope you haven't actually endangered anyone and learn your lesson (or do us all a favor and don't come back).
  15. SASS and 3 gun have the same problem--shoving shells into a shotgun isn't a sport.
  16. You could show up to any single speed XC race and win it on a rigid bike. You probably couldn't win without modern geometry though. I hope you all discover Gnar Couch by the way.
  17. My first DQ was the same mistake. Fortunately it wasn't a major match. I learned a lot.
  18. Unintentional discharges happen, but often they aren't DQs. Change your shorts and onto the next stage.
  19. I am actually more surprised to get them right lately. I got this one right but I've been wrong on almost every other one. Fortunately they usually present obscure situations that aren't common. I strive to be as fair as possible but apparently when it comes to difficult rule situations, I am not so good.
  20. I use a 9 or a 10 pound, 9 probably feels the best. I can even tell when they're fresh versus when they have a few rounds on them. ISMI
  21. I remember when CZs were $250 and people still wouldn't buy them. I do wonder what kind of CZ costs 3 times as much as a Glock 34 though, it sounds like your friends are getting ripped off. Me too, but I wore the finish off all the nice guns trying. I'm sure I'll learn to kick ass someday.
  22. I definitely need to order a few of these and put them in my bag for the new Shadow 2.
  23. The book length is not a prescription, it's a minimum. Never load below that length.
