  1. Never shot this one and will send in app tomorrow for a Sunday shoot. PCWC Sat. then VAMD!
  2. Nice job, NEMO. This issue keeps coming up as a question about ss magwells and the base pads to run fast. Good reference! I was ready for the box and scale last week-end. Francisco did a nice job. . . . Maybe I'll get a chance to talk to you next year.
  3. The Tripp's are super nice folks. They answer the phone, questions and have superb customer service! Congrats to Virgil and his suppport staff! They will see some of my projects soon! Again!
  4. Find and old towel. Spread out. Dump polished brass onto towel. Do visual scan on brass pile, removing wrong (caliber)cases. Fold over towel and rub brass pile inside. Repeat as needed. This usually removes the fine dust, keeps the dies clean.
  5. A fine, hand rolled cigar, perhaps, will compelte this image . . . . . .
  6. Iv'e received several direct from SV in "paper towel" wrap. The proof's in the "puddin" Chech your source, . . . . . Call Sv if ?
  7. Check the frame area where the slide stop pivots up and down for burrs. Also, check the slide stop itself where it contacts the slide to lock it. Many times the tab becomes rounded from use and will not engage properly. Look at the slide stop at the base of the pin for burrs, as well as the lever area, and polish etc as applicable. Check the slide cutout at the lockback notch for filth and peening, which may also prevent lockback. Finally, get a look at the link, making sure it's not burred, and be sure to have enough lube on the slide stop, so it can pivot freely. Look at you followers and check them for burrs. All these areas can cause and issue . . . .hope it helps. . .
  8. Thanks Linda, I knew there were several, I'm looking for feedback on the favories, . . . .
  9. Weigh in guys and gals, Where, in an alternate to the designated "Match Hotel", is the best and closest the the 2010 SC Section match location? Don't get me wrong, had a blast last year at the match and the fellowship/dinner/party. Looking for a good alternate for this year to the Ramada. Can't stay for the Sat. night festivities . . . See you there . . .
  10. Yep! Sounds very good . . . .
  11. John, I've used 310 for .45 and 40 with great results. Super clean and meters well. I'm about 4.6 gr with MG JHP, WSR or wolf at 1.210 oal in .40. Same load for LTD and SS. Very soft. PM me with your price for the 310 keg/s if you want to sell it - I'm getting low . . I'll be at SWGC Sat.
  12. Email Gary Natale at GANS GUNS after you review his website and images of lightened slides complete with pricing. His work is excellent, and there is super fast turnaround. He is very intuitive about what a customer wants. Gary can probably advise you on results he's had with this particular model, with particular cuts made. Surely there will many more replies on this topic . . . . I'm no open shooter, but a lighter slide moves quickly . . . Go ahead, cut that thing up!
  13. Glad to have you as part of the fold in NC. See you SWGC this Sat . . .
  14. Yum! We have a local joint in Greenville NC called Ham's brewery. They serve the Bison burger and you can get a small batch brew made right there, a mother milk stout that's all over a Guiness, an IPA way tasty, or the local favorite award winning brew- Great to hoist some some suds with your shooting buds while wearing your shooting duds after the match! BTW Bison has way more protein than the typical barnyard fare . . .
  15. Wilson 47 NX working well at this time in my newer .40 Trojan. Inspection of feed lips showed some tuning needed and same was effected by me. This only on a couple of the mags, I spread them gently a little wider at the rear. I also checked and "tuned" the mags by deburring and polishing as applicable to facilitate feeding and easy insertion. No problems with drop free or loading 8. Loading a "barney" with 9 results not so positive, so I use a barney mag for this. They were what I would call a little tight at first, but have loosened up to my satisfaction so far. I'm running my LTD load at 1.210 with no problems. So now I have the same load for LTD and SS. Slide stop was not locking back at first, but inspection of slide stop revealed some imperfections, now remedied, and the slide will lock back properly on the last round. Brownells also has the 47 NX but you may have to backorder . . . 2 matches with this new pistol, so far so good . . . Still getting used to the .40.
  16. Good shooting on Saturday Rob! Looks like this rig is working well for you! Good shooting to PV also, glad you didn't fall down this time. . . . I'm still getting used to my Trojan . . . I didn't get a chance to talk to Mr Joyce, but nice to have him at PCWC also! See you guys at SWGC this weekend . .
  17. That doesn't tell us who is on our squad unless I missed something. We are not posting the squad lists at this time. We have done so in the past and it just didn't work out. Sometimes you have to move competitors around to make it balance out right. If you post it and move someone all it can do is make hard feelings. Of course if you sent your entries in together and asked to be on the same squad together it was made so. I hope everyone understands. Hmmmm . . . Looks like the stages and squads will be a pleasant surprise . . . Looking forward to meeting the rest of my squad- I know 4 of us anyway . . .
  18. Anywhere we can go to look at the persons on squads- squad lists?
  19. 5 on the belt, 1 in the pistol, barney loader mag in pocket . . .
  20. Yeehaw! Gee, thanx fellers and ladies . . . Gettin ready to fondle the 40 right now- the pistol, not the bottle . . .
  21. Mine are set for what I call early de-activation. Very small hands. Both the EB andd STI work fine for me. With the pistol apart and the grips off, watch the action as you depress the GS and move the trigger to the rear, to see where to remove metal. I set the safety leg to apply the proper pressure,(if the gs safety leg has insufficent tension you will get a false "reading") then radius the edge where the gs meets and blocks the trigger bow, and angle cut the underside of the gs leg, so that when the gs is de activated the trigger bow only has the front of the leg to clear and the rear of the leg falls away sharply. Polish everything and go slow. Also watch for trigger bow bind on the release of the gs. Remember, this mod will make a difference if you change out a trigger. The gs may not block a different trigger bow from the one you originally cut it to. . . .
  22. I barney load for SS and ltd. That way I don't come up short, or worse, miscount. The barney mag is usually half- 3/4 full.
  23. STI/SVI offer ramped bbls as do many others . . . Many times a customer can specify their preference, either ramped or non ramped, when purchasing a pistol. The advantage (generally) of a ramped bbl is the support to the case, as well as enhanced feeding. If you are ordering a frame,and/or bbl, you will need to choose either the Wilson/Nowlin cut to the frame and corresponding bbl ramp, or the Clark/Para style. My trusty old Kimber .45 is of the non- ramped sort, and my new STI Trojan is ramped in .40.
  24. Not a Pink "fan", but JEEEEEZ! That performance was a real eye opener!
