Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. It fits in the box, with no trimming or grinding. Praetorian97 had one for IDPA CDP and I also used the same gun in IDPA (the same exact gun, I bought it). The measurements that EAA lists for a lot of there stuff is not correct. If I were you I would be looking at a Limited Pro, Stock III, or a CZ-75 SP01 Shadow or regular Shadow. I own 4 Witnesses (Lim Pro x 2, Limited, and Match, just sold my Stock II) and an SP01 Shadow. I like the smaller grip on the CZ as I have short fingers and even with the Eric grips on the Witnesses, it is not small enough. Doable, but the CZ feels better in my hand. The trigger on my CZ is better than any of the rest I have. No stacking, breaks cleanly and evenly each time. Either way you can't go wrong with either or. It really comes down to parts and customer server. EAA Blows, hands down. CZ Custom shop is much much better. Both have some availability issues, but with EAA it seems they send us one small batch a year and then left overs and the odd unicorn here and there. Thanks azgoose, I was actually lurking at your tanfo posts! Is there a way to get springs for the limpro DA trigger? Grip isn't a factor to me, I just really like how the tanfo looks but I don't want it to turn into a headache in terms of parts or spending more to make it like a CZ shadow. Henning offers everything you need for the Tanfo, but he is very busy and sometimes hard to get a hold of. I generally turn to Jim Bodkin for questions / advice. He sells all of Hennings parts as well as some Eric parts. I've also reached out to KneelingAtlas (John) for advice as he is pretty much the resident CZ / Tanfo guru. Nealio is also a big source of knowledge. The main difference between the CZ and the Tanfo trigger seems to be the length of certain springs (and for the life of me I cannot remember which one it is, but a search will find it). The CZ has the longer spring and this you dont get this stacking feeling in DA. It is very linear, with really no discernible difference in pull weight throughout the whole length of pull. The break is crisp and predictable. Single action is even better. Now for full disclosure, my second hand CZ was originally built by Shay over at Akai Customs and just had a Matt Mink trigger job, so it is the tits. DA is about 4.5# and SA is around 2#. I'd actually compare the trigger to some of the 2011's I've owned. Now don't think I am trying to sell you on the CZ, I love both equally, but the CZ is my new mistress. My Stock II in factory condition, internal work, served me well and would've been a top notch pistol with some internal work. No matter which of the two you pick, you will not go wrong.
  2. It is over-weight. I think it is about 45.5 ounces but a good gunsmith can shave a few ounces here and there to get it under. ^^^^ What Mike said

  4. Looks like you were on Chris K's squad. Good guy, best SO they have at the club. He was my mentor when I got into IDPA.
  5. I had the same experience with my XDM 9 and 40 in a WSM II. I moved on to a DAA Racemaster with the insert block and could not be happier with that gun. My Tanfoglios on the otherhand do not like the DAA Racemasters, so going to a Manny Bragg holster for those. The nice thing about the DAA is that it is really two pieces, the shell and the insert block. The blocks are interchangeable very quickly and are model specific. With one holster and two blocks (XDM and STI 2011) I ran 3 guns.
  6. I don't see that he has done anything wrong here. He simply asked if anyone else is having the same issue. I'd call that a sanity check. He clearly stated the issue he is having, the symptoms and fixes he has tried, and asked if anyone else has the same problem as well as a fix. I think running to the manufacturer for something that might be an ID10T error without proper troubleshooting would be much worse. Just my .02
  7. Dan, those base pads are great. They do need to clearanced on the inside though to fit full capacity. Mine loaded out to 15 without it (40 S&W).
  8. Is it just me or was the barrel on that Gold Match pretty pitted on the outside?
  9. I love my Stock II in 40 for production. I think the recoil feels even softer than my 147gr 9mm mouse fart loads.
  10. Can you attach a more side profiled picture?
  11. Tom, The DAA RaceMaster should work. It only grips the trigger guard and does not need to come up far to clear the holster. Worse case scenario, it does not work for you, sell it (at almost no loss as the blocks are what make it great). I've used the WSM II and hated it. The XDM basically flopped around and gave no sense of security. I have the DAA and have used the same holster for an XDM, 2011, and Tanfoglio.
  12. I shot these so far out of XDM 5.25, STI 2011, and Tanfoglio Stock II: Berry's 180gr RN FMP 180 RNFP CMJ's BBI 180gr TC The Blue Bullets 165gr RNFP and 195gr RNFP The Berry's are just flat out reliable as far as feeding goes. Never had any issues with quality. I would not and will not use the BBI's. I've got some of the Moly coated ones and hate them. They are dirty to handle and within 200 rounds had started to gum up my seating die. I've shot thousands of the FMP's in both 9mm and 40. They are cheaper than the MG's and IMHO I feel just as good if not better. These are my go to bullets. The Blue Bullets are new to me and I am still evaluating them. So far I really like them. I think they poly coating is way better than the moly coating. Clean to work with and seem to be very accurate so far. The father and son that run the company are really nice guys and will go out of there way to answer the phone, emails and questions. I'd recommend giving them a look.
  13. Ken, I believe Caswells (indoor) has a match and they do rent. http://www.caswells.com/ is their web site. The rest of the ranges with matches are going to be outdoor with no rental options.
  14. I did not purchase directly from Henning, so I will let him comment on the price.
  15. With all things being equal, except the firing pin, I was getting light strikes with Erics XL firing pin, but have not had a single issue with Hennings new XL firing pin. Same weight hammer spring and same CCI primers (Same batch of reloads)
