  1. Remember, there is not such thing as XM or SIRIUS anymore. There is only SiriusXM. If you can wait until October 25, it might be worth your while. A service rep at Sirius mentioned that date as when the content of the two systems will merge, so it won't matter which radio you buy. SiriusXM is commited to ensuring that any radio you buy will be good for at least 10 years, regardless of content changes. As for switching between cars/rental..... Stiletto2 http://shop.sirius.com/edealinv/servlet/Ex...atParentID=7874 Yeah, it's expensive. But it records, and works in any public WiFi area, along with satellite coverage.
  2. Man I love that movie! We used to go watch it at the "Midnight Movie" on weekends. A local theather would rotate "The Kids Are Alright", "Quadrophenia", "The Song Remains the Same", "Rust Never Sleeps", and "Rocky Horror Picture Show". 95 cents for a show. 1980's. Good times.
  3. http://www.garthwaite.com/BrowningHighPower.htm I have a 1911 he built up. I haven't seen his Hi Power work, but the 1911 work is nice.
  4. The news looks grim for you.... http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...mp;#entry791156
  5. I'm confused by this statement. Hi-Point's are US made.
  6. WOW, Marty! You've been a member here for six and a half years, and waited this long for a first post. You're definitely a guy who's ego is not tied to his post count!
  7. People who have that agenda don't need an airsoft argument to help them along (they were doing it before airsoft ever existed). Conversely, most airsoft shooters: - Transition to real-steel when they have the opportunity. - Wish they could. More shooters = more acceptance = more people on "our side" of the political fence. The potential to grow the sport FAR outweighs any downside. Airsoft IPSC/USPSA events ALREADY take place, and already try to emulate IPSC/USPSA events. This proposal won't change that, but it will open the possibility of a single body to manage and promote the sport. The idea of leagues and matches in urban/suburban settings should be very appealing. Matches could be held more often, with setup and shooting costs being much lower. More matches = more income. I've gotten back nto shooting USPSA this year, after many years off. I'm now shooting airsoft, for many of the reasons mentioned in the proposal (cost, availability of places to shoot, close duplication of "the real thing"). Airsoft also opens a much wider door than sub-minor ammo in real guns (such as .22LR events). Any place you can safely run a .22 event, you can run a "real" event.
  8. My "favorite" always seems to be the one I don't yet own, but I'm looking to buy. Then I get it, and the cycle starts again. Funny thing is, none of my pistols are "better" than the Ruger MK II and 1911 I bought (used) the day I got my pistol permit (those many years ago).
  9. Hmmmmmm........ Beretta mags... Do they work in the XD and XD-M? Do XD mags work in XD-Ms?
  10. Here in NY we can buy/own pre-ban mags with a capacity over 10 rounds. So, if you buy a new Glock 17, you can easily find legal higher-capacity mags. The XD pistols are "new", as are the mags. Are there any pre-ban mags of any make/model that are compatible with the XD or XD-M (9mm or .40)?
  11. If that first painter is a little slow for you, try this: Fast-forward to 1:30 for a view of speed-painting.
  12. I don't know how you guys have so much time to do things when reloading.... Me, I drop the mag, reach for another one, look at the magwell, then aquire the next target. During a stage, I NEVER go over and turn on the radio or TV.
  13. That's a good thing. I must have missed something with "No Country...", since I heard all the hype, watched the movie, and think it was total garbage. Not a good plot, no good characters, not great scenes... I wanted my two hours back. There have been few movies where I expected so much, and was deliverd nothing. "2001: A Space Odyssey" comes to mind, but it was 35 years old when I saw it (and I wasn't on acid).
  14. No NS no M... at least that's what I consider it. All As would be nice, but not very realistic if you are moving. Heck, a "clean match" sounds easy! My first match ever I had no M, no NS, and all A's. I came in last in my class, and third from last overall! Seems the "speed" component is what must make a "clean match" difficult! Congrats, Meerkats!
  15. What's considered a "clean match"?
  16. I'm trying to decide between a CED7000 and a Pact MkIV XP. Which is better for training (I don't care about running matches), and... which can pick up airsoft shots? I have a 15+ year-old CED4000, that has a sound-level adjustment screw. You can tune it down far enough to pick up dry-fire shots, and hitting the mag for a reload. Seems that feature has gone away in new timers. What the CED4000 doesn't display split-times, and it doesn't do par-time in tenths. That's why I'd like to replace it. Help me make a decision! Oh, and the chrono feature doesn't matter much to me, I already have a chrono.
  17. Your shooting picks your class for you. Did you mean "division"?
  18. Well, I shot my first "match" tonight. Looks like I'll make "A" class over there, long before I do it over here!
  19. Jim. Thanks for the link. I have found my new hobby. Airsoft Postal matches! I'll try it out this week.
  20. I use these on my gun when there is a stage with a string of poppers that can be shot from right to left. No more watching the front sight "rise".
  21. shooter_tim at rimfirecentral.com seems to be one of the guys over at Nordic, and has been responsive over on that forum: http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/member.php?u=49295 Not sure if that helps. I'm assuming you tried their contact info on their website: http://www.nordiccomp.com/
  22. Millions of "rounds" of dry-fire ammo says "shooting is shooting". EDITED TO ADD: Most of the time spent "shooting" a stage is spent doing something other than shooting (drawing, moving, transitions.... even pulling the trigger happens before you are firing). You can get better at all of these things without anything ever travelling down the barrel. With your .22 conversion, the only thing that will be different is how you handle recoil. This is also probably true of just dry-firing. Though I haven't done it myself, I've read here on the forum that you might be better off shooting just one caliber per session.
