  1. Take a look at the sight and see where it is rubbing the slide. I have installed about 5 sets of these sights and the best method I've found is to remove some material from the bottom of the sight dovetail. Doing this essentially makes the dovetail smaller because it sits lower. It shouldn't take much to be able to get them to fit. I use some 320 grit sandpaper taped to a sheet of 1/2 plate glass. Just set the sight on the sand paper and rub it back and forth. Be careful not to remove too much or the rear part of the sight that overhangs the top of the slide will contact the slide. If that doesn't work you get a dovetail file and remove some material from the rear underside of the sight dovetail. I've never had to do anything other than remove material from the bottom. I use a sight pusher. You can also use some oil in the dovetail to get them to slide in a little easier. If you use the oil be sure to remove the set screw and clean out the hole and screw with some acetone. Then loctite and install the set screw. Also I think these sights are just parkerized or blued so they will need a light coat of oil to keep from rusting when exposed to the elements. I've gotten some light rust on mine after shooting in the rain. It wiped right off, but I keep them oiled now.
  2. Thanks. I've seen a Limcat with a Caspian frame that uses S_I mags. http://digitallowdown.net/clients/limcat/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/caspian-SV-mags.jpg http://digitallowdown.net/clients/limcat/new-limcat-with-caspian-frame-uses-stisvirht-magazines/caspian-sv-mags It looks like it has a STI trigger. Just wondering what is involved from anyone that has done it. I don't have my Caspian frames yet so I haven't had a good look at what is involved. Thanks.
  3. Has anyone modified the Caspian High Cap to accept STI mags? I understand Limcat has done this, but I'm looking to see what is involved from anyone that has done it. I'm not opposed to using the Caspian mags, but I already have SVI 9mm and STI 40 mags. I'm going to build two new guns on Caspian frames. One in 40 and one in 9mm. I would like to be able to use the S_I mags I already have. Thanks.
  4. For me the right clicking the thumbnail works in IE8, but using Firefox right clicking the thumbnail does not give me the option to open in another tab or window. It just opens the MFB.
  5. My main problem with the MFB is that you can't right click on the thumbnail and open the pictures in a new window. When you right click it just opens the MFB. With large pictures and the MFB if you scroll down to see the entire picture and then click to get rid of the MFB it doesn't return you to the post where the thumbnail was. It just leaves you where you scrolled to see the picture and then you have to scroll back up to continue reading the thread. Is there any way to allow right clicking of the thumbnail to open it in another window?
  6. On the old board I thought we were able to download our PMs. I thought I have done that when my PMs were getting full. I can't find that option now. Thanks.
  7. DIY http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86570&st=0entry996740 You can buy the parts from McMaster Carr for about $4.50. I made this mod on my 650 and it works well.
  8. I think that is powdercoat on that gun.
  9. Yes, that works for me too, but you are not using "Search titles only". You are searching the entire threads and displaying only the thread titles as results. Problem I'm having is I only want to search the titles.
  10. I didn't think the search was case sensitive, but I tried different capitalization like you suggested with the same results. Thanks.
  11. When using the advanced search and checking "Search Titles Only" I get no results found. Tried searching Infinity, Tuned, and Mags. I cleared my cookies and tried again with the same results.
  12. Can you use Bolen follower with standard ISMI springs? I have been told by a reliable source that you can, but wanted another opinion before making the purchase. The Bolen specific springs are more expensive, but look to have a hook that locks into the follower. If you can use standard ISMI springs with the Bolen followers are there any disadvantages to doing so? Thanks.
  13. Thanks for taking the time to look into my minor concerns. Click links and get new windows. That's my vote.
  14. I get the gunsmith discount and the codes have always worked for me in the past.
  15. I have this one. I added the pouches I wanted. Seems like good quality. http://www.skdtac.com/Eagle_Chest_Rig_SKD_All_Molle_Version_p/eag.569.htm This one comes with pouches already. http://www.skdtac.com/Eagle_Chest_Rig_Universal_SKD_p/eag.567.htm
  16. You didn't include any text so I'm not sure what were trying to point out. BritinUSA I understand about saving the pictures, but that doesn't address the issue I pointed out. You can't click on the thumbnail and have them open in another window. It just cramps my style of reading threads. If I'm the only one it bothers I guess I will learn to live with it. Thanks.
  17. Is there a way to set it so when you click on a picture or a link that it opens in a new window. When I usually read a thread I click on pictures or links and they would open in another window. Then when I was done reading the thread I could look at the pictures or the other links. Now when you click on a picture it pops up over the thread you are reading. Also I can't right click on pictures and open them in a new window. When I right click it just opens in the same window over the thread. If the pictures are huge then you have to scroll down to close them and when they close you have to scroll back up to get back to where you were in the thread. On older posts that I read when searching all of the quotes are hard to differentiate between the new text and the quote. It seems that new posts since the conversion the quotes are highlighted with different color boxes, but it doesn't seem that way with old posts when I search. I'm using Firefox. Thanks.
  18. I just called. They are out of 9mm/38 slides. No 5" 40 slides either. Only 6" and commander left in 40. I did buy two high cap frames for $90 each.

    Mag ID

I thought they might be SPS, but all the pics of SPS mags I've seen are marked SPS on the side and have 3 holes along the side. Anyone have good pics of SPS 140s to compare? Thanks.
  21. I have 4 mags that I believe are SVI. They are marked as Dawson Precision tuned. 3 look hard chromed and the other looks like the finish on my STI mags. Can anyone confirm that these are SVI? Thanks.

    SVI/STI

MVZ Is the new Infinity grip metal or plastic? Which trigger are you using? Is the take up the same? From looking at my STI and Infinity triggers the Infinity definitely had a longer bow.
  23. Nice work. I really like it. Post a range report when you test it out. What barrel did you use? Are you going with matte hard chrome? Can you show how the mainspring housing/beavertail/magwell looks removed from the gun? I'm wondering how you set it up to be able to change the mainspring. You might want to add a slight bevel to the magewell just at the front edge under the checkering. Just to remove that sharp corner.

    SVI/STI

I thought the grips were different too. I don't have any experience with the Infinity grips, but tried to put an Infinity trigger in my STI grip and had to do lots of adjustment to get it to work. There are a bunch of posts on be.com about getting the Infinity trigger to fit the STI grip, but I haven't seen anyone with problems fitting the Infinity trigger in an Infinity grip.
