Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Just thinking. So if I resize to 100% with the Dillon die in the prep head, and only have that case in the shell plate I am ok if I feel resistance with the RT1200 die ? All of my finished cartridges pass thru my case gauge ok. That said, I fired some of my first batch from the XL650 this weekend , and had about 5 rounds out of 50 that hung up in the magazine. Had to manually rack to clear that unfired round. They later loaded and fired fine. Sorry to stray off question.
  2. I should clarify that I am using the Lyman M die loading because of the MBF . I couldn't keep the bullet on the case as it advanced to the seating station. That little bit of case mouth expansion did the trick.
  3. Why are you using the Lee Universal Decapping die at station #1 in both heads ? I am using the Dillon sizing /decapping die at station #1 in the prep head and the Lyman M die at #1 in the load head. Using MR Bullet Feeder at #3. Seems to be working good.
  4. I thought I would complete this thread with an update. Finally got my brass trimmed. The trimmer head has the Dillon depriming /sizing die in it. When I swap over to the 5.56 loading head, it has the Lymam M die at #1 station. Loading rounds are a breeze now. The bullet drops from the MBR onto the case and stays there when rotating to the seating station. Perfect. I really like this setup
  5. That is what I will do, if the M die gets here. Maybe today.
  6. Run a tandem Dillion collator and then design a 'Y' connector on the drop tube that won't jam. Or maybe a larger drop funnel area to give the case more time to drop at a higher RPM.
  7. It looks to be the same. I should have the Lyman M die on Monday. It should expand the mouth just enough to let the bullet start to seat. The Nosler has a tapered base. I don't know how a flat base bullet would even sit on the case thats stationary, let alone rotating to the seating die.
  8. Just read on MBR to use a Lyman M die to expand the neck . Could mount on the trimmer tool head.
  9. I am loading Nosler 55 gr BT bullets and having trouble keeping the bullet on the case when the shell plate indexes to the seating station. I am using the Dillon 'A' powder funnel. There is no bell forming done to the case prior to the bullet drop, so what keeps the bullet from falling off during the station rotation ? The bullet is just sitting on the case. I am starting out with this caliper. On my 9mm / 380 bullet drop conversion ,I have a powder funnel from MBR to change out with the dillion funnel when doing those calipers. So as MBR states there is some compaction taking place that keeps the bullet seated somewhat till it gets to the seating station. I would have to rotate the shell plate very slowly to keep the bullet from flying off with the 5.56 .
  10. I placed my big XL650 order with BE on Tuesday the 18th and it was at my door on Monday the 24th. I forgot to add the ''As It Should Be'' upgrade when I placed the order. So I quickly ordered it and asked for quick shipping since I needed the Strong Mount first. Brian told me he would get Dillon to speed things up. The parts got here yesterday. Now I can start assembling. Thank You, Thank You. Moral of this story - Double check your order before you place it.
  11. OK, thanks. Was thinking since it fit the case gage it would slide right in. Its killing me waiting on the mount. The first part of the setup, and I forgot to order it. Ready to go.
  12. I am setting up a separate toolhead for the RT1200 trimming operation on my new XL650. I took a sized .223 case and hand slid it into the .223. trimmer die. It won't go all the way into the Die. Sticks out the bottom by .300+ . The top of the case is about the same amount short from reaching the cutting chamber. This and other sized cases fit my .223 case gage just fine. What am I missing? Waiting for my Strong Mount to arrive before I can operate. Just familiarizing myself with the components.
  13. Razorfish, I will keep you in mind if I get .Talk about a good wife, it was her idea this year that got us a 69 GTO Judge in perfect condition for our anniversary . Just like the one I had in HS in 71 dating her. How do you top that? Anyway your advice is exactly what I was going to do. Right now I am buried in 5.56 and 9mm cases needing reloading and can't keep up. Pretty much decided to go with the MBR. I have a tendency to over research things. Going to order today Thanks guys.
