Personally, I would go with the Square Deal. That way you would at least have another press if something goes bad on the 650.

Thanks for the pictures Rob. I checked my barrel and from what I can tell from your pictures, I must have one of the newer barrels. I just installed an Apex hard sear in mine. Boy, it makes a lot of difference in the trigger pull. My trigger gauge says 4 lbs. but it feels lighter. Very smooth break and I will have to shoot to decide if it was a good decision. Truthfully it seems really light for a carry gun. Range time will tell the tale. I will definately be using the external safety. Thanks again for the pics.

Please post a picture of your new barrel chamber. I got my Shield right after you posted the first time and I tried to compare mine to yours. So far not one malfunction with mine but I haven't tried and +P loads. It did shoot my own loads right off, unlike the Kahr I had before. The Shield appears to be a good gun so far but may have some teething issues like others do.

Get the SDB, you won't be sorry. I have two of them and they are great. I clean the shell plate and lube the rails every 1000 rounds or so. I regrease the handle bushings at around 5000 rounds. The SDB is a great press and a good bargain for the price. You can knock out 750 rounds in three evenings easy and then shoot the rest of the month. That's based on loading a couple hours each day and not hurrying anything. For your expressed needs, the 550 would be over kill. The SDB also comes with dies(which work very well) and you don't have to spend extra money on dies like you would with other models. If you want to load 9mm, just tell who ever you talk to that is what you want and it will come adjusted when you get it. Just set the powder measure and double check the other setting and you are off producing great ammo and saving all that money.

I put a 6 pound trigger spring in my G19 and had no ill effects what so ever. The trigger spring pulls the trigger bar to the rear with more force but not enough to get anything off balance from what I have found. It may take 1/2# off the trigger weight but that may differ one gun to another.

I run 5.0 gr.of WSF under a 115 gr. Berry's bullet and it is a very accurate load in my G19 so I would think 4.8 gr. would work well for the 124's.

I put a set of Dawson Precision sights on my G19 and really like them. As good or better than the Sevigny sights in my opinion. I ilke the plain black sights.

I had this happen on my G19 so I replaced the trigger bar and went with the Glockworx connector and problem solved. Trigger pull was better too.

I took my powder bar completely apart and polished the interior surfaces with very fine polishing compound on my Dremel. That helped a lot but you still get the occassional variance in loads with Unique. After polishing it wasn't near as bad as before. The second thing I did was change from Unique to WSF. More accurate loads in my G19 and S&W pistols and metering is great. Polishing the bar does work.

Dawson Precision makes really good replacement sights for Glocks. Put a set on my G19 and things improved greatly.

I agree with FL Slim. I shoot the same loads in my govt. model as I do in my commander with no problems. My G36, on the other hand, doesn't like the flat nose bullets and will only shoot ball so it only gets a little factory once in a while.

I get good results from WSF.

Another vote for the Square Deal B. Worth every penny. Mine spits out 9mm as fast as I can feed it powder and bullets. You won't be sorry.

As a GSSF member, I took it and enjoyed the whole day. Met some new people and learned more than I thought I would when I went in.

Sorry latech, my SDB's seat the bullet at one stage and then taper crimp at the last one. SDB's are great presses. I don't know why people seem to think they are inferior to other Dillon presses. They aren't.

Should be a 700 Varimt synthetic. Scope is good quality. You really can't go wrong with a Rem. 700 in just about any persuasion. Take it out and shoot it and see what she does.

If you're not gonna run thousands of rounds at a time, I would consider the SDB. Great little press and will produce quality ammo at a reduced price but tremendously faster than a single stage. I've got two and love 'em.

Current price on 124 gr. FP Berry's bullets is $86.45/shipped. I haven't found them any cheaper anywhere and they shoot well in all my pistols. I just order them direct and they arrive in 4 to 5 days.

My G19 and G36 are jealous.

Glock says not to shoot reloads because if you were to ever get a double charge and blow one up, they ain't gonna fix it for you. It's all about attorneys and liability. They have actually had folks blow 'em up and then want a replacement gun claiming it was faulty. This from the guy who taught our armorers course.

Years back I didn't shoot that much. I'd burn a box and go home. Then, my FIL sold his airplane and wanted to start shooting. He likes to be able to burn all the ammo he wants on a given day. We went in halves on the first SDB and it worked great as we only shot .45 ACP and .45 LC. Then we went to shooting a lot of 9mm and my wife bought me a second SDB in 9mm and the rest is history. Simple need drove my timing to start reloading.

I use them almost exclusively and prefer them over CCI. That's just me.

I've loaded thousands of 115 gr Berry's plated bullets with Unique and had good success. I recently switched to WSF to try something new and like it a lot more. Meters better in my Dillon SDB powder measure and accuracy improved. Both powders fill the case enough to detect a double charge. I'll still use Unique in .45 but I plan to stay with the WSF in 9mm. Check your LGS and see if they have manuals from other sources to compare data.

I would suggest Cold Bore first but Robar also does a good job and cost is fairly reasonable.
