Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. FINALLY! Got my EB Kobra Carry the other day and can't wait put some new loads together. I'd like to use Montana Gold 200/230Gr CMJ bullets and N320 powder. Since this is a commander size 1911 (new to me), can those of you more wise than I give me your 2 cents on favorite loads? I heard some of these 4" guns can be a little fickle although she has chewed through everything (factory ammo) I fed her so far. Thanks.
  2. Thanks FNG. That is what I needed. I guess I just couldn't figure out what the hell a LTC Fiocchi was. Those numbers look much better to me.
  3. That was what I was seeing from other posts talking about N320. No data on their website for .40. I see N350 though... I'd have to seat a round to see if that would go in the chamber. Most of the reloading I've done has been around the 1.120-1.125 range. Maybe those are for comp barrels??
  4. Hi all. For target practice and getting my wife started I have been using 4.3gr Titegroup pushing a Rainier 180 plated bullet, OAL 1.125 with good success out of a HK USP Compact. I have been reading that a lot of you like N320 so have decided to give it a try. Any suggestions for a good starting load? I was thinking 4.8gr at 1.185 or so. Am I off base? Thanks in advance.
  5. So, I read all these replies and no one mentioned having an air handler (shop HEPA filtration system). I've seen some that will filter the dust around the reloading/shop area down to 1 micron (lead dust I think is around 2). They cost around the price of a new Glock but that seems like a good price considering the consequences. Anyone go to that extreme yet? I have resurfaced my plywood top reloading bench with stainless steel to make it easier to clean, used D-wipes and their soap, and tumble/seperate outdoors. Sounds like I will avoid the indoor ranges like the plague except for requalifying from now on.
  6. I'm in Anchorage. Just getting started and looking for some practical pistol options. Just bought some Titegroup to try with plated Rainier 180gr. The sun is coming back!

  7. Wow. This forum is awesome. Almost too much info and now I'm getting confused. Can the experts amongst us get me started? Shooting an HK USP40 Compact and just ordered my 550B (Brian is awesome, again). What is a good powder/bullet choice to start off with? Thanks in advance.
  8. Hello everyone. I just got bit by the shooting bug real bad after attending the FFDO program. This site has been really awesome (thanks, Brian!). I finally decided on the 550B after a lot of wishy-washyness between it and the 650 due to the number of different calibers I want to crank out. Winter is in full swing here so it's time to build that reloading bench and fill all that empty brass so I can just shoot when the weather gets better. Anyone from Alaska on this site that does IDPA??? That's the next step as well as attending some of these shooting schools each winter to keep the rust from forming. Thanks to all of you for the postings that make this site so rich with information.
