Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I should have provided some more info. My issue is with feeding. I have put about 1,000 through the DW PM9 without a single issue. In the XDM I have had about 5-6 FTF out of around 750 rounds. Right now they are 1.07. I suspect they may be slightly short but wondered if anyone here has a working profile with this bullet. I have shot tens of thousands of Blue Bullets and Extreme in 124 RN without issues. The OAL is 1.12. I realize I will need to find the exact sweet spot for my guns but feedback is welcome. They all pass the punk test, cased gauged and are at 132 pf with VV320.
  2. I have a bunch of Extreem 124 hollow points and I am looking for any feedback for length recommendation. They will mainly be used in a Dan Wesson PM9 and An XDM 5.25.
  3. I own both in 45. Out of the box the RO was tighter and more accurate. For both I put mag wells on, VZ grips and Dawson FO front sight. I have over 50k rounds through the RO and around 10k through the loaded. I did have all new internals put into the loaded and a bushing fitted. It greatly improved the trigger and tightened up the groups but the RO still has an edge there. The RO was a major workhorse and had fantastic reliability. For the most part it is a backup now and will be passed down to my grandson. I believe either will meet your needs but if I had to only own one I would go with the RO. Just a better gun out of the box, TRP level fit and better groups. I also have the DW PM 9 and it is a fantastic gun. If you really want a 9mm I would say be patient, save and you will never regret it. It is worth the wait.
  4. Stop by and say hi at stage 11. It is a great stage. Lots of ways to shoot it.
  5. I have the RO. I have put in excess of 50,000 rounds through it! It has been a great gun. I put magwell on it, VZ grips and a Dawson FO front sight. Other than replacing the springs it has been perfect. I also put some skate tape on the front strap. I get fantastic results with WST and SnS 200 gn SWC. I can't say enough about the gun.
  6. The pin in the front of the rear sight broke. This is a small pin with a small indent. Springfield sent a new pin but it's not going in as expected. (Great customer service by the way.) This pin has the small indent i mentioned so I am thinking that is part of the problem. Does anyone know a trick or procedure to get this new pin in?
  7. My understanding, and I could be wrong but it will not be posted. I assume we will find out when we register.
  8. I too have been wondering where everyone went. I'm shooting Friday again this year. Can't wait.....
  9. I recently bought a 9mm 1911Dan Wesson for two reasons. The first is it is a great gun for shooting in steel matches. The second is to use in USPSA SS. I know I will suffer if I don't hit "A's" but the best advice I received was if the match has a lot of steel the extra capacity of the 9mm will more than offset the scoring penalties. If the COF for the match shows mainly paper I will shoot major.
  10. I had a great time. Very fun and well organized! Fun stages! I will be putting this match on my monthly "must-do" calendar. I was able to shoot it twice in about 3 1/2 hours. Did I mention it was fun?
  11. I'm heading to my first national match and I have a concern in how much ammo to bring. I will be flying on Southwest and I understand there is an 11lb limit. How strict are they? I believe the round count is 225+ chrono. I think/know 400 45 acp will be over the 11 lbs. so, what do you bring for round count and what issues do you have with the airlines? Thanks in advance!
  12. A basic newbie question. I am changing out the recoil spring on a Springfield Range Officer 5", etc. The spring I purchased is a wolf 16lb spring. It is about 1 1/2 inches longer that the original I am replacing. Do I need to trim it or am I good to go?
  13. I came across a few quotes and they really speak to something I am working on and I wanted to share them. They are: Losers visualize the penalties of failure. Winners visualize the rewards of success. William S. Gilbert “The greatest barrier to success is the fear of failure.” Sven Goran Eriksson The reason they make sense to me is when I was younger and way skinnier and oh way faster I was a tennis pro. One of my early coaches used to talk about the concept of, are you playing to win or are you playing to keep from losing? His point was that I had trained properly, I had the fundamentals down but the key to success was having faith in that and to just let it happen. To stop worrying about what could go wrong and only focus on what I needed to do. Once I did that I started to rapidly improve. I am working to incorporate that mindset into my shooting. A few weeks ago I was shooting a match and the first stage was one of those "oh crap" stages. A few very quick clamtraps targets etc and I felt like it was going to be very difficult. I just said let it go and see what happens. I shot it and I hit all of the targets so I felt like I was too slow but it was respectable. I was shocked to see that I won the stage and I'm only a new "c" shooter and there are some amazing shooters where I shoot. It was an eye opening experience for me so I just wanted to share the quotes. I hope it helps.
  14. I just started reloading 9mm and I have having issues loading small primers into the tube. I am using the one with the yellow tip on one end and the blue tip on the other. I can only get about 10-15 primers into the tube before one gets jammed in the tube. I replaced the yellow tip but it is not helping. Any ideas? I have had zero issues loading 45 acp with large primers. Thanks in advance for any help!
  15. I have been using the 200gn SWC for the past few months in two Springfield 1911's. I was having reliability issues so I was trying several combinations. I have not had a single issue with this bullet. I have gone through about 4,000 of them so far. I love how accurate they are too. I do clean out my seating die after every 250 rounds or so but that is the only concern to be aware of. I live very close to the Dillon factory store and I just buy themt there. I assume if they sell them and recommend them that is saying something. I use 231 or WST as my powder.
