  1. I would go upgraded sights, 13 pound recoil spring, Mag extentions which will bring you up to 23+1 and a dawson Mag well.
  2. Did you have a picture of the top(crimp) of the shell. The hull also looks to be one of the cheaper promo hulls which I have seen have some problems getting a good crimp as well as being 2 piece. For reloading, the STS hulls are hard to beat
  3. On the mags, there is a little intentation in the front corners of the mag. It like the plastic is cutting the point off the corner. Basically remove that indentation with your file, sand paper of if your careful, dremel. I can get 19 and a hard 20 in the mags with Taylor extentions. With dawson, I am 20 reloadable. I got it down to about 5 min to disassemble the mag, "tune" it and reassemble it
  4. Check with tony in the vendor section at velocity shooter
  5. I have had good luck with ISMI springs for the 140mm mags in all mine and never had a bit of trouble. They use a spring designed for the extended 140 base pads not the std spring
  6. They are fine for limited/limited 10 as they are replacement slides and in a configuration glock offers. If it was say a 6 inch 40 calibler frame on a large frame ie 20/21 the 500 would apply as glock dosent offer a 6 inch 40 caliber large frame glock. The front serrations do not matter in limited as milling the slide is legal be it serrations or cuts to lighten the slide
  7. Glock makes an adj rear. If it is the factory front sight, then that would probibally be the way to go as the glock has a wide factory front sight
  8. We use to have a couple matches do that but have a website now that they use to post stuff. Nothing like checking to make sure it is still on the night before. Driving 2 hrs each way to walk in and get the match canceled and have to turn around and drive right back
  9. I would say a good competative single stack gun could definately be had under 1000 bucks. The trojan, spartan, numerous springfield guns. Production/singlestack also allows shooters to compete with guns they probibally alaredy have around. The gun cost is also able to be justified starting out than an open blaster especially when you consider the mag costs in there as well. The open gun is a very nitch gun. It is there for that division only and really has no use outside of USPSA. A single stack or a production gun could be someones carry gun, home defense gun etc.
  10. dawson makes a +5 extention that will give you 20+1
  11. I hope that is not your production rig you were working on with the mag release and slide stop. If so thats you new open rig unless you shoot limited or lim 10
  12. I think like all divisions its dependent on the area you are in. Around here Limited is the big thing with SS and production and you might see the occasional 1 open shooter. Go a couple hrs north and production is the big thing
  13. Shoot a 45 currently but I think my next gun is gonna be a 9mm. Mimimal recoil, cheap to shoot and 2 extra rounds for shooting minor.
  14. One of the CalvArms lowers where the stock is built in, LW or pencil barrel, carbon fiber forend. 16 inch barrel(or shorter and perminately attach the break to take it out to 16 inches).
  15. I think the problem with slinging the rifle is you will see most people go with what they can do the fastest. Do you want the gun running with a slung rifle with shot shell strippers, extra mags for the pistol etc to bump the trigger of hit the safety. How many people have extended safeties and very light pulls on their rifles?

  17. I know when I shot skeet very heavy, I up and quit mid year at the top of my game with an HAA average of right at 99. I was AAA(equivilant of GM) across the board and was very competative in AAA. I got to the point were I would avoid all the local matches as the potential return on investment was not there. You paid similar entry fees as the larger matches but there wasn't near the cash to be won. The entry fees were at a bare minimum,$250 bucks but with options etc was over 300 bucks. Ammo was running well over 100 bucks for just the 5guns without counting any of the shootoff ammo. Add to that the matches were a friday-sunday thing which usually ment leaving thursday and getting back sunday late. It got to the point that it became like a job and you need to win to play. The enjoyment I got was from winning. I still go out and shoot it on occasion and the tools are still there but the desire and attitude needed to go out there and be as competitive as I use to be just isn't there. The work schedule also plays a big role as I just don't have the 3 days a week minimum to go to the matches all summer
  18. Do you have a stock hammer or a "speed hammer" If you have a stock hammer, you can replace it with a speed hammer or cut the hook off the stock one. this can be viewed on bill springfields site
  19. The big advantage over it and the 45 round mags is its not near as long as the 45 round mags which is nice if shooting through a low port etc. I also makes a nice "prop" for table starts as well. I usually just use a 45 round mag but have a beta I could use if need it
  20. Has anyone tried the SVI steel grips yet. They look to come alaredy textured so they wont need the grip tape.
  21. Have you checked the gas key on the rifle to make sure it is tight and properly staked? What kind of gas block did you have on the rifle? If it is not a pinned on one, have you checked to make sure it isn't bumped off to the side a little bit.
  22. 8 round are much better especially with 8 round arrays but 7 rounds can do if need be. The key is to have reliable mags. CMC, Wilson, Tripp etc. Saw one fellow try running the 6 buck gun show special mags and it was just ugly. Numerous feed issues, and one had to be pounded out with a rod.
  23. The main problem with them is they need to be turned on manually. The only ones I a have seen that are a help are the crimson trace. They mount on the rear of the gun and when you grip your gun they come on(can be blocked with the trigger finger if need be). If you need to use your gun, the odds are your not going to have time to fool with turning your laser on. The laser can be nice especially if you are shooting in an akward position or in a situation where you want to stare at the target and not your front sight. Just remember to practice without them in case they do fail
  24. I recently started using the Atlanta arms ammo and am very pleased with it. I really don't have the space for a reloader and while I know it saves quite a bit of money, with the way my schedule is I don't have the spare time to devote to it. The atlanta arms ammo is quality stuff and is basically the stuff you would reload if doing it yourself. the face that the cost is basically the same as the mart ammo, its a win win.
