  1. This is such a good topic. I've been hit splatter before but nothing like some examples you guys have witnessed. I'll be more aware in the future for sure. What is considered a safe distance if any?
  2. This is all great stuff. My best results come when I am confident about the skills I have and concentrate on the shot at hand and not the six shots ahead of me. Thanks everyone for your insight.
  3. I use my index finger and it works well for me on 1911 and Glocks. The easiest release I've worked with is in on the HK USP where it located on the bottom of the trigger guard. Should have never sold that pistol.
  4. Shotgun SX2 Pratical. Rifle: Stag left hand A3, 20" barrel.
  5. I too like the weight and size of the SW snubbie. Crimson Trace grips can help with sighting. I agee that a 9mm snubby would be nice. Of course my 629 with a 2.5 inch barrel will take of most things.
  6. I have the Dawson Ice with the brass plug. The added weight helps. Plus the magwell helps my grip.
  7. Warren works very well for me. I too like the flat black and the wide rear sight. I just see the target better. Mine were tight to install, but I used the Glock sight tool and everything worked out well.
  8. If the the gen 3 has worked for you in the past why not stick with it. I have a gen 3 34. Works well for me.
  9. I have a generation 3 with a Hogue slip on grip and Warren Tactical sights. I really like how it shoots and how it feels. Very reliable with no problems.
  10. Hats off to those guys and gals in Medford who put on a fine match. They are a great group of folks...friendly, enthusiastic and helpful. It was a HOT time, literally, and everyone seemd to enjoy themselves. I did. Thanks Medford for sponsoring this match. I hope you do it again next year.
  11. I have the Dawson 9 round mags. I bought them several years ago when I bought the pistol. They work fine, except for the time when the floor plate fell off during a match and dumped 7 rounds on the ground. Dawson replaced it, no problem. Maybe I should try their 10 rounders.
  12. When you say the first round won't load reliably, can you be more specific? Are you getting nose dives? Depending on the type of issue, that will let the folks on here figure things out a little faster and help you more. The more detail you can provide, the easier it is to find a cause and offer a remedy. Thanks. They nose dive.

    Self Blame

You cannot change the past only the present or the future. Self blame is destructive. Forgive yourself, you are not perfect. If you want more of yourself, set yourself on a path that will take you where you want to be. Put your energy into that path. It is all choice. Be happy with the choices you make.
  14. Technique is everything. If you are left handed shoot left handed. Find someone that can give you informed instruction. It's worth it.
  15. I used a model 19 for awhile with a Bladetech holster and comp III's. They worked well. No experience with Compac or Jetloaders though
  16. I'm curious as to what mags STI Trojan 9mm shooters use that have 10 rounds or better. I tried Cobra mags but they wouldn't load the first round reliably. I've heard that 38 super mags work well but I don't have any experience with them.
  17. Moderator note: Merged thread. I'm considering getting an Advantage Arms .22 conversion for my Glock 34. I'd like to know if anyone has expereince with them and how accurate/reliable they are. Do you consider them a good training aid?
  18. I'm a lefty using STI factory mags. I've ordered some cobra mags from Tripp research. I think I'll try to isolate the mags that have issues. I'm not really thrilled with the STI mags. I had one that lost its floorplate and became diassembled during an IDPA match while I was shooting a stage. It dumped all the ammo out of my pistol. There it laid on the ground next to the mag spring, follower, floor plate and bumper. I ejected the tube from my magwell, inserted a new mag and went on my way. That was pretty interesting. STI replaced the mag for free but still...
  19. I have a vest from Bass Pro that is ventilated in the back. Its their "Redhead" brand. Its light and has a lot of pockets. Some of the matches I've been at make concealment optional in hot weather.
  20. I have 625 that I had tuned several years ago. I don't shoot it much. The ignition is too soft to fire factory loads consistantly. What should I do get more reliability from factory ammo?
  21. I also have a 617 with a six inch barrel. It can get muzzle heavy. Would rather have a four inch tube.
  22. It has about 300 rounds thru it since the last cleaning. That may help.
  23. I love my Trojan in 9mm. However, the slide started not locking back after the last shot, but not everytime. When a I cycle it manually there is no problem. This occurs with factory ammo. Is my recoil spring too stiff?
