  1. Mine do. Although that left thumb, I'm right handed, gets pretty black. Never had any kind of injury though. I hold my K and N frame the same way. Kevin
  2. SIGHTS I have 3 dot Novaks, I like them, I shoot them well, but It seems everyone uses an adjustable rear with a fiber optic front. Will I have a disadvantage with my current sights? If you shoot them well I wouldn't change them. That pretty much applies to everything, imho. Thumb Safety Just about all the single stack, limited or open guns I see have ambi safety. Why does a right handed shooter (me) need an ambi safety? If you have a weak hand only stage it can come in handy, yeah you can hit it with your right thumb and then transfer. But it's nice to have the option. Personally I also like them from an RO point of view. I can see what position it's in in the holster. Not a big deal, only works for 1911 type firearms, but I kinda like that aspect of them. Clips (magazines, are you paying attention?) I have 8, 8-round mags, and 1 more 7-round, Is this enough? yes they all work. That's enough. Holster I have a bladetech, but I'm not happy with it. Seems a little flimsy. I have been using a comp-tac for my M&P in production, so another comp-tac makes sense for my 1911. Ready Tactical also seems popular, any experience with either of these specifically for a 1911 in competitions. Like the sights, if you don't like the bladetech, then try something else. Can you borrow a couple to try? I've got some blade techs and a Ready Tactical. I like them both. Mag pouches I was thinking of running two of the Safariland open top slimline (775-53) any first hand experience with these? I don't think I'll like any of the quad pouches on the market. My other choice would be six singles from Ready Tactical. I like the single pouches. That's just a personal preference and can have a lot to do with the size of your waist line. Mines plenty big Am I missing anything? Go have a good time

  4. It's working on my ipad2. I'm playing a video from the 2011 Nationals and it looks great. When the video opens on the screen it looks a little funny. A large black background and the video is in the middle. But in full screen it's awesome. Nice job Kevin ETA I'm looking at the match reports from the 2011 Nats. I like the way it opens on the Ipad better than my pc actually. The pc gives me a small window that I have to scroll down through. It's only about a third of the screen. The Ipad is full screen, all the reports laid out vertically. I get 3 or 4 on the screen at a time. Really nice.
  5. I paid $317 shipped for two non ported barrels from Mossberg. So that sounds pretty high. Both came with modified chokes installed. No wrench or other chokes. As far as who to talk too, there's another thread with all that info. And some good and not so good customer experiences. You should do some reading. Kevin
  6. If the hammers falling and there's no strike mark on the primer then maybe the firing pin is hung up a little?
  7. After it feeds the second shell can you hear the hammer fall?
  8. I'd say get back to basics. Is the firing pin moving forward? Are there strike marks on the primers? If no strike mark and the firing pin seems to have full movement, is the hammer following? If you can hear the hammer fall when you pull the trigger, but there's no strike mark on the primer then put a cleaning rod or a wooden dowel down the barrel and see if you can feel the firing pin hit it. That should tell you if the basic mechanism is working. If it is then maybe the barrel has loosened and the headspace has effectively gotten to long. Just some thoughts, but I'm drinking too Good luck Kevin ETA if it's only happening on a automatic reload it may well be in the gas system. Everything free and moving well? Is that rod on the back of the bolt oriented in the recoil spring correctly? Is the bolt moving at all when the gun is in recoil? More semi drunken thoughts. Hope you figure it out.
  9. Fedex just dropped mine off as well.
  10. I'm not sure you got burned, Capt Dramaboy. Productions delays, OK. If Mossberg takes your money and says, "Fuq you" then you will be burned. Pretty strong response Ben. Without any name calling, at least here. I stand by what I said. I was told "I'm looking at your barrels" on Friday afternoon and "they'll ship Monday". That was the second time he gave me a ship time. The first time, sure stuff happens. After I bought the shotgun, yeah not so much. I'll give you they haven't billed me yet, but I've made purchases based on their promise. Maybe that's my foolishness. My purpose in the post was to alert any one else to the issues that might be involved. Isn't that one of the purposes of this thread? Edna/Yvette was cool enough to make it happen. She's gotten, and some of it from me, alot of kudos for it. When you promise and it doesn't happen you hear about that too. That's the way it works where I do business anyway. Kevin
  11. That's how it went for me too. Woman called me back, cc info, estimated 2.5 weeks. With the exception of the product being delivered. I really appreciate the update, I'll do the same. I sent Joe an email asking for an update on my order. I'll keep the thread posted on how it goes. Thanks again for keeping us all in the loop. I'm reminding myself that Mossberg is going out of their way to make me a custom product, that I only heard about on a forum. I know they've made them for several people already, thanks to Edna. Wouldn't be the first time I waited for something custom that I really wanted to play some game that doesn't mean anything Kevin Update on my barrel order. I left a message for Joe today and Linda called me back this afternoon. She confirmed my order was indeed in their computer system and they should have a batch of barrels done this week. That's on schedule for what I was originally told. I brought up that someone else had ordered a barrel after me and received one already. She didn't know what happened, obviously I didn't have the customers name or order number. She did suggest that possibly that order had been for a different finish than the ones I ordered. That seems pretty plausible to me. Can't wait to get my new barrel. Thanks again to Edna, Joseph, and everybody on this thread for making it possible to get a custom barrel. Kevin Yet another update and still no barrels. I spoke to Joe Zacher on Friday of last week, 10-7, he told me he was looking at a batch of 30 non ported barrels that were just waiting to be proof fired and then shipped. He personally told me "your barrel will ship monday". Guess what it didn't . Called again today. Joe wouldn't take my call, a customer service agent told me that Joe said "sorry about that, they're still working on the hardness of the barrels, sorry." I asked her if there was an ETA on shipping, she said no. That's twice Joe has misled me about shipping dates. The first in the original email he sent me that stated 2.5 weeks, and then again on the phone last week. Now he won't talk to me. This doesn't look good to me. Just wanted to let anybody who's thinking about going down this path what it might entail. At this point I'm wishing I bought an FN. I bought a 930 specifically because of Joe's timeline and some good reports of his service that I had read here. Now I've got a shotgun I wish I didn't. My advice to anyone thinking of going this route is to get the barrel in hand first. May seem like common sense, but I took this Joe guy at his word. Twice now, and got burned both times. FWIW Kevin
  12. I use a 19lb in my .45, and it lights off large rifle primers 100%. So might be a tad over kill, but I prefer the reliability over a few ounces of trigger pull. FWIW Kevin
  13. You dog will always be happy to see you.

  16. Hope your kidding. I emailed Joe, got a call back in an hour and ordered two barrels. On Sept 16th!!!!! Was told it would be a few weeks. Hope they come through by the end of this week. Already bought the shotgun. Fingers crossed Kevin
  17. Best place on the net for all that stuff! Welcome Kevin
  18. Just to update anybody thinking about ordering these barrels. I ordered two yesterday and was told they would be a few weeks out. Guessing they'll make a production run soon if you were thinking about it. Just email Joe and he'll have somebody call you back to take the order. They'll already know what you want, super easy.
  19. Adjustable die, makes life a lot easier. Non adjustable dies are really meant for chasing existing threads. They'll cut new ones, but they don't like it. Hope it works out for ya Kevin
  20. It's the yeah, yeah, yeah's. Yeah, yeah, yeah three circles next shooter! Can't say I've never been there, but I try to avoid it.
