  1. Tom, I tried to squad myself but I don't have a password. I checked my e-mail as recently as this morning (I don't have access to my home e-mail at work). Will i be getting an e-mail soon with a password? Massimo PM Sent. Tom
  2. Due to overwhelmining requests, I have added 2 more squads to shoot on Saturday and Sunday, half days. Tom
  3. I just got home from SS Nationals and put in a lot of entries. (32) If I have a check, you are in the squadding system. Thanks Tom
  4. Updated!! More sponsors!! The prizetable is up to $28000.00. We will be giving away a custom 6" STI Tri-topped limited pistol on a drawing. I hope to have pictures soon. We have guns for all division winners. I think we have enough frames for all the class winners that have at least 5 in the class. Thanks Tom
  5. Perhaps it's because I read the rule quite literally ... "as and when visible" means that if I can see the scoring surface of the target, I can safely shoot it. 2.1.4 restricts course designers, host organizations and officials from placing a target such that, although I can see it, I cannot shoot it because it is too far up range. That is a shooter's trap. 10.5.2 is very clear, The 180 is NOT a sugestion. The only target I can think of as being illegal placement is if the only way to engage it is by breaking the 180. Freestyle requires the shooter to be aware of where he is and where the 180 is on the corse at all times. I certanly don't want to go back to "box to box" shooting. Tom
  6. I've had shooters push open a door and stick their foot on the base of the door to keep it open. In doing so, they have faulted a line...barely. That is an example of something that I wouldn't call a significant advantage. I disagree with this on the surface. If most people had to hold the door with their arm or hand to keep the door open, and you tried to hold it with your foot and faulted the line, you definatly have ganed a significant advantage by deing able tos hoot with both hands on the pistol. Procedural per shot fired.
  7. I thought I would update things a little. We currently have about $25000 for the prize table. Please thank them by buying their products. 8. And at least some (hopefully most) of us appreciate it Dan! Tom
  9. 11.7 Third Party Appeals 11.7.1 Appeals may also be submitted by other persons on a “third party appeal” basis. In such cases, all provisions of this Chapter will otherwise remain in force. Yeah, I saw that, but discounted it since that goes straight to arbitration and requires written appeals, arbitration fees, etc. Maybe I need a fresh reading of Chapter 11, and/or take the CRO or higher level course. As th RM at many Area matches and sectionals, I have been asked to look at someones equipment. It has not been very often, but it has happened. I do it out of courtesy and to verify that the playing field is level.
  10. From what I see, unless it is remote, the person taking the pictures is downrange of the shooter.
  11. Hi, I can think of 2 places. The Wolfs den in Hugo, MN. Just a little north on 35E, and try John at pony express reloading. He is here on the Enos forum as "Pony Express". Later Tom
  12. The target was designd by Carl Provan, and I make them. Carls Trap.MOV This is a quick time video Tom Cool target. I truly hope they don't require all that snow to operate properly! Snow? That was 3 weeks ago, we lost most of it before I took the video! Tom
  13. He'll probably get the snow, though... Every match I go to lately seems to have hell weather along with it, so... If we have snow in late May in Shreveport, I'm going home!

  15. The stages are posted! Let the whinning begin! Here is a link to the Area 4 website: http://www.area4championship.com/ Thanks go to Wayne Miller for the new logo. I also want to thank Lee Neel for his quick work on the website. Later Tom
  16. Soon, hopefully the end of next week, I have to finish drawing them and get John's approval.
  17. I was writing my longer responce while you posted yours. This was not is response to your post. I am actually kind of on your side and what Gary said. I do't see a problem in asking, IF you ask all shooters. (Being consistant) But, it is not the responsibility of the CRO to do so. It IS up to the shooter to know the rules. Tom
  18. The longer answer is that there are many rules that state it is the shooters responsibility. Rule 3.1 The competitor is always responsible to safely fulfil the requirements of a course of fire.... Rule 8.3.2 Are You Ready? The lack of any negative response from the competitor indicates that he fully understands the requirements of the course of fire and is ready to proceed. If the competitor is not ready at the Are You Ready? command, he must state Not Ready. It is suggested that when the competitor is ready he should assume the required start position to indicate his readiness to the Range Officer. Rule 8.3.7 If Clear, Hammer Down, Holster After issuance of this command, the competitor is prohibited from firing (see Rule 10.4.3). While continuing to point the handgun safely downrange, the competitor must perform a final safety check of the handgun as follows: Rule 9.6.3 A competitor (or his delegate) who fails to verify a target during the scoring process loses all right of appeal in respect of scoring that target. Each competitor is responsible to maintain an accurate record of their scores to verify the lists posted by the Stats Officer. I could keep going , but I think I made my point. It is the shooter who needs to know the rule book. Tom
  19. The short answer is: it is the shooters responsibility to know the rules. That is why Sedro sends out a rule book to everyone.
  20. Appendix C1 6c c. The popper is left standing and the competitor challenges the calibration. In this case, the popper and the surrounding area on which it stands must not be touched or interfered with by any person. If a Match Official violates this rule, the competitor must reshoot the course of fire. If the competitor or any other person violates this rule, the popper will be scored as a miss and the rest of the course of fire will be scored “as shot”. If the popper falls for any non-interference reason (e.g. wind action), before it can be calibrated, Section 4.6 will apply and a reshoot must be ordered. It should have been scored a miss with no calibration. Tom
