  1. Jim has corrected to date on the website. Registration is on Thurs evening, or Friday at the Range. Shooting is on Friday or Saturday. Tom
  2. No. The matches are shot on Friday 17th and Sat 18th. Tom correct me if I have it wrong... The way I read it is if you want to shoot them both, you shoot one all day and then the other all day the next day. If you just want to shoot one match, you can shoot either match over the two days. So either match can be shot all in one day, but if you wish to shoot half days, you will have to select one match or the other. Thanks Jim, You are seeing the 16th on the registration, but that day is for registration only.... Wait for Tom to correct or confirm as I have nothing to do with this match other than to help with the website. JT Thanks Jim, Yes to all!! Tom
  3. We chose not to shoot on Sunday so we have Sunday for travel and if we get some bad weather, we can shoot on Sunday as an emergency. More peole can take a Friday off rather than a Friday and a Monday. Later Tom
  4. Gary is not only one of the greatest guys on the planet - he knows bullets, and he knows pin shooting! be + a bunch Order some GATs + 6.8 gr Blue Dot, crimp long and heavy. I know some guys that were loading above 7 grains, kept an eye on signs for pressure and took pins off with ease. Even the lumpy ones. One thing to remember with Blue Dot, thoes little blue dots get under the star and will cause it to lock the cylinder in place. For this reason I always shot Accurate 5. 6.4 gr of A5 under a 230 in a 38 case also gets you about 950fps. When I owned V-Maxx bullet Co. We sent some of these bullets and loads to SAAMI for testing. they came back at +P pressure for a 38. Plenty of room for 357 pressure. Have Fun!! Tom
  5. That is a man's snowblower! Tom Knowing you Tom, you will probably build one of those. I can't do a Chev, I am sponsored by Ford for racing!
  6. I have not stayed at the Howard Johnson, but the Roadway Inn was in the middle of a remodel 2 years ago when we were there. It is not the best place I have stayed, (kind of hard to beat the Crown Plaza in Tulsa for a match) but it is a decent place. Tom
  7. Sorry, I work with steel all day, my hands are one big calais. I like checkering pointed up like pins! The last one I had done, I told him point them up untill they cut him, that would be about right! Tom
  8. The best way I found to make it stick, take the grip pannels off, clean it with alchol, (rubin not drinkin)wrap it over the mag tunnel, take a knife and cut it around the frame holes, and put the pannels back on. I have had it stick for years on the frame. Use 3m floor tape. Later Tom
  9. I now have the motel information. The match motel is The Roadway Inn & Suites, Bossier City, LA Phone # 318-747-2400. The rates are: Single $60.00 Double $65.00 The other motel is the Howard Johnson Inn, Bossier City, LA Phone # 318-742-6000 The rates are: Single $70.00 Double $70.00 Any questions you can Call or email me. Thanks Tom
  10. I have no idea. I have never tryed this. I have picked up thousands of shot bullets that the coating is still intact. I guess my other question would be; Why would you drive a bullet through the barrel with a wooden dowel? If you want to slug a barrel, you should use a soft slug so it can deform to the exact contour of the barrel. Later Tom
  11. Plus, you've thrown away any geometic advantage (sight radius) that you may have had... It would not be legal for production or SS. "notch and post only" Tom
  12. I have been shooting pins since the earile 80's. The best bullets were always heavey, 230 38's, 230 45's. But what was needed as much as weight is the nose profile. You need somethine with a sharp edge. Hollow points grab the edges of an off center hit, as well as a wad cutter or SWC. A 230 RN was just above useless unless you got a dead center hit. A lead 180 TC in a 40 might not be the best. A 180 HP would do good. I used a 10mm loaded to about a 190 PF that worked very good. The best bullet I ever found was a 230 wc 38. If you just edged a pin, it was on the ground. By the way pins are set 3' from the back of the table. The table is 4' deep. Later Tom
  13. Jim, I shot with a guy that had a slide racker that was sort of hooked, (half moon shaped) and on his belt he had a piece that he use to hook the slid racker on. The mag holder is made of a plastic like Lexan. They are machined so that they hold upright and slide in from the front. The shooter drops the mag, slides it over the mag and slides the mag out of the holder. I have someone who has done machining for me in the past and I know he would do it cheep (cost of materals) to help out a young shooter. If nothing else I'll donate it. Later Tom
  14. Generally your section by-laws spell out how the slots are distributed. The slots are sent to the section coordinator. Activity credits are the number of shooters at a match. Your club sends this to USPSA when it reports a match. I am not what the "credit to slot" ratio is. There must be a formula for this. I hop this helps a little.
  15. A year and a half? The first I heard of it was in September this year at the Nationals, 4ish months ago. Was there some other announcement that most of us missed? Sorry, it has only been about a year since he talked to me about sponsorship. The website has been up since last May. (5.10.09) to be exact. It will be a year and a half from when it was announced to the match happening. My mistake. Tom
  16. Oh gereat a year and a half after the US production challenge was announced the Nationals are on the same date. I wonder how that happened. Tom
  17. You can do either, but I need you to mail the check. Thanks Tom
  18. The prize table will be order of finish. The winner of each class in division (if there is 5) will get a frame or gun. After the shot show, I will be able to talk to STI and finalize what I am getting from them. But right now it looks like I will have at least 16 guns or frames. Springfield has given me 2 guns also. Each division will have it's own prize table. I also have a slot from CED that will be a randem drawing at the match. The Junior that wins the drawing will get their money back, complements of CED. The official chronograph sponsor. Persionaly, I don't like a "double blind" drawing. This comes from the side of me that is a sponsor as well as a comperetor. If I donate $1000 worth of bullets, for example, if they are put in a bag and not on a table, no one but the shooter who got the bag knows what was donated to the match. That is not worth much in advertizing to me. I want everyone to see what was donated to the match. I will agree that it is easier to run a double blind drawing, and faster for the shooters, but if we want big prize tables, I think top down is the way it needs to be done. Later Tom
