  1. i think my eyes are getting worse contacts didn't work out I'm shooting with nothing but safety glasses and doing ok will revisit occupational/shooting correction again i've been shooting 9mm exclusively. struggling with switch to 135 gn bullets and new powder tite group. has been frustrating, had a few crappy visits to range/ found a good combo on last test feel like splits are back down too noisy at indoor to use timer. feels like i'm not going backwards. added strong hand and weak hand to every session dry and range momentum is picking up and I'm training more.....
  2. I'll post pics and details tomorrow. CZ has firing pin safety... Trying to figure out if firing pin will hit out of battery...... I was thinking same thing if case is well surrounded by chamber.............
  3. I'm following this thread closely.. Waiting for the man in brown to drop off 55 and 75 pills I like the voodoo stuff I just started shooting a white oak bbl 1/7. Ar/ mforgery When I first built it. Factory 55. Look like shot gun. 77 A max was 8 inch MOA at best. 75 SMK still horrible from tripod, bench rest, The 2 later over RE15. I tried different weight factory loads that I could find from. 55- 75 nothing worked. I moth balled this build For years..... Recently had shop / LGS look at it, he shot it. No problems. No work done to it. I shot it @ indoor 20yards. One hole groups!?!? Same loaded SMK ammo from years ago. Haven't tested a greater distance yet. Nothing seems to add up.... vooDoo.... Personally I'm chalking it up to barrel needing more break in...... I'm now having a blast with her. And have started second build. Well back to OP. What kind of shooting you expecting to do. f class, 1000 yard, 3 gun, cqb. I'd love to keep near or better 1 MOA. At distance. With. Heavies (75 gr) and re15. ( former .precsion .308 shooter). For closer stuf As long as I'm dropping steel or A zone hits with .55s. I'm happy. But like above posts. I've read the same where some use same powder for both 55 and 75. And have stellar results. And some don't. I'm interested to see more options on this. I'll add my 55 grain opinion when they get here ( hoping I got that lucky barrel)
  4. I've seen friends plenty of split cases. Are you saying over crimp would NOT cause over pressure situation? When set back. Do you mean bullet is pushed deeper into case? Unfortunately friend was shooting gun.... I know what a double throw feels like..,.. So I'm not 100% sure on double load. I've only had one, from first day on Dillon.
  5. I did weigh a few and did measure a few once. With the kind of shooting I'm doing I don't think it's going to affect my A zone/ minute of A zone Level of Accuracy. I stopped measuring ...... And said to myself "I am not a bench rest shooter I never will be" I trust the blue guys. Btw. The blue bullet 147 flat point is my all time favorite
  6. 9 mm Had a case blow up. Just above rim. Not a case separation, just blew out a hole, damaged next bullet in mag. Nothing catastrophic? No injuries no damage to gun thank God. I've read where this can happen albeit a very very rare situation. I think I may have let an over crimped cartridge get in. Just set up Dillon 4th die. I'm pretty religious with my reloading technique, I'm 99.99999 % sure it was not a double throw. But it got me thinking.... Other than weak case what else could be problem? I will only buy once fired brass from this point forward. Aka from. Military or police range... At least these are known number of uses. How many of you had experienced some kind of case failure? / KB
  7. Set up ez up then A clamp mesh tarp wall to stop brass from there it's ez pick up. Think wall not mat
  8. most of if not all of the los angeles area indoor ranges forbid rapid fire. so it limits your trainning its pretty easy to fly domestic with gun as checked baggage unsure of international if i recall oak tree was pretty liberal about rapid fire. just not when its busy. i dont think they rent depending on where in weho and what time your driving its over a hour drive personally id spend my off time eating, museums (getty, bcam at lacma), tourist things (venice beach, grummans chinese, walk of fame, movie studio tour, back lot movie studio tour) tour some amazing beaches drive a few hours on PCH... i still have frineds in the biz i might could get you a star (movie star) sighting @ a studio i used to live in los angeles, hit me up if youhave any special requests or thing you want to see or do if you reached out im sure one of the students would offer gun and take you to range in exchange for some one on one coaching. i could reach out to a filipino martial arts teacher to see if he has any connects... dang rowdyb just made the best offer, fly with your belts only!!!!!
  9. I think th DIY trigger jobs are fine. A bit of polishing and some springs ans viola' a 4-5 # trigger Sounds like with your skill set, you should just go ahead and build from ground up. I'm not that mechanically inclined and have built a sub 1 inch gun, ( prolly better now eith better reloads and recent mods), it's really not that difficult. Barrel is King regarding accuracy, followed by a tuned hand load, remaining mods for pseudo-accuracy good trigger, good muzzle brake /comp., tight no wiggle stock, good scope, scope level !, much of you choices will depend on primary use. I didnt find scope height to be too much of an issue with standard mounts even standard quick release mounts. It's about that consistient cheek weld. My red dot actually co witnessed with buis. Haven't run an a-2 style front sight except for when I was with Uncle Sam. I currently run complete flat top, folding BUIS, level full time. Then change out between red dot and scope with quick release. I was trying to buil the versatile. Do all. Stick. Personally I prefer a longer barell...20" and free float, That was a part of the fun.... Researching shopping building . I'd part it out find what you want, what's on sale or used and build up a gun better than anything you could buy of the rack.
  10. Oak tree had a metal "shooting gallery" it's a bit of drive from Hollywood Lax gun range is a quick drive ( nothing is a quick drive in la) There a few over the hill in the "valley"
  11. Ok primary reason I want to ream. Is longer bullets. Im primarily shooting cz sp-01 I want longer bullets because the deeper I seat a bullets the number of tight chambering/ failure to case gauge bullets goes up.. I don't mind shorter COAL. I do mind tight chambering bullets because of bludge. This tends to happen with specific headstamps. I refuse to cull. For example my current 135 RN coated, have a higher fail rate because of deeper seated bullet. Coal is 1.075. Occasionally Causing a slight buldge in loaded cartridge with certain headstamps. This buldge causes failure to case gauge, I now have to case gauge every round with this bullet. ( not happy to have to case gauge 100% of training rounds). My usual practice was to only case gauge 100% of match rounds, not training rounds. I'm told this is same bullet profile from many bullet mfgrs. I prefer the 147 flat point but have a quantity of 135 RN left. I do not use a FCD, I do use Dillon crimp in fourth hole. The 147 flat point seat less deep. And I get almost no failure to case gauge in these rounds. I will randomly gauge every 10-15 when loading. I refuse to cull brass it takes too much time. If I send my barrel out to get reamed do I give directions to how. Much leade is cut. Or is it a standard amount?
  12. How much do you ream? How do you measure how far to ream?
  13. You might try some standard factory 55 gr 's at 400 yards and see if the accuracy is holding you back. Little reason to reload .223 anymore - lots of good factory ammo for low $$$. what kind of factory ammo that you like, from where and what $$
  14. im very new to the game I think the muzzle brake is the number one modification in my book for getting gun to shoot flat i feel like i stumbled upon the perfect brake i really have only extensively shot the vais and birdcage thanks to uncle sam got to thinking what else is there you cant really just test drive muzzle brakes wish you try before buy any suggestions what to look for (spying others guns at range) too many choices to run a poll What muzzle break are you using? (optional pictures and why?) weblink? mine is a schuler, not a big name mfgr. maybe even a garage machinist, im told design is similar to holland brake. but ive had a few shoot it and got the WOW! haven't trained enough with it but my splits are near if not better than handgun.
  15. I'm a novice.. 1. Comp/ brake.... It takes the bite out of carbine.... I'm amazed more people aren't suggesting. With recent comp, change I'm equal to if not faster on spits and traditions compared to pistola 1. Tied for first place more ammo. Either reload and/ or get a .22 adapter. There is no replacement for rounds down ramge and training time. I've been out of the army for over 20 years.... Many of those fundamentals , keep me ahead of many in the game..... Also reloads tuned to your rifle/ barrel greatly increases 3. Trigger.... I have only done the spring, bob and polish job. Aka poor mans trigger job... My trigger is about 4 # and crisp...it's good enough for now...when you need a high end trigger if ever. You'll know 4. Bi pod or bags/ belly / bench time..... Slow controlled fire practicing trigger control and sight alignment is prolly most under trained drill, scope, iron, dot, 5. Shot timer...... Yeah most of my answers aren't rifle related. there is no replacment for training under stress. You can't fix bad marksmanship with a $ 5000 custom stick
  16. Both when case gauging after Lee dies. It's long in neck.
  17. I'd gamble with the aim.... But last check out of stock......
  18. Tall glass of scotch. Sandpaper, various grits. Preferably electricity and whatever sanding tool I can dig up. Sense of humor. I was thinking some wet sand paper, progressive grits, oil, glass surface, bourbon and Netflix. Not joking. But I'll call Lee tomorrow. Is this considered bumping the shoulder. I'm trying not to buy case comparator...... At risk of becoming a bench rest head.... Does measuring brass length count? Thanks all for the info...
  19. i was blaming sixing button... but after thinking about it..... if the die was proper the sizing button wont pull brass long. how do you DIY and properly grind down die? or is this a send to lee kind of thing? cost? im going to load this batch without deprime and button.....

Do you have tactical or safety sp-01 Hammer springs and polish, are kings trigger job?

I have both 14m lifter and t-2. I've been dragging my feet installing..... I've trainred with it the way it is. And am getting on average .21 splits... I can see sub .20 splits consistently in the very near future. I'd like to shoot a a short reset , take up modified gun and shoot mine against without it to see if it will actually improve split time and / or accuracy. Does well trained trigger control Compare with short reset and take up modified?

Tactical........ 14 m lifter, and t-2 disco , optional but inexpensive. Hammer pins. ( loctite or stake) Did you get trigger, hammer, firing pin, fp spring, rptrs, reduced hammer spring, firing pin retaining spring,
