Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. A few folks also suggested Oaktree Gun Club, looks like a beautiful place!
  2. Hi Kevin, Yes I will need to rent a pistol and thank you for your recimmendation, a few folks have suggested The Firing Line so it's looking like it could be the way to go. Thank you again, have a great day mate! Matt
  3. Hi Guys, Hope everyone is having a great week! I am wondering if someone could please give me advice on a good choice of firing range in LA? My wife and I will be in LA for 3 weeks from Dec 21st to early Jan, we will be staying in the West Hollywood area. The primary purpose of our trips to LA is Jiu-Jitsu (we both teach BJJ back in Australia) but I would love to get some shooting in. Our IPSC Handgun State Championships are on the week after we get back to South Australia so I would really like to get a little handgun practice in for an hour or two each week. I can bring my belt/holster/mag pouches/earpro and I'll purchase a Bluegun as soon as we land, that way I can do some inert dryfire practice in the hotel room for a few mins each day. So in summary, can anyone please recommend the best choice for a good range to get in an hour or two of live fire once or twice per week while visiting LA? Thank you in advance for your time guys and girls. Kindest Regards, Matt
  4. G'day T100NZ, Looks like we're both about as new as each other! Hope it all goes great for you mate!
  5. Hi Guys, Thank you for the warm welcome! - ChuckS: Summer is pretty warm over, a couple years ago we had a week straight of days that were 109 to 115 so it can get pretty toasty. Definitely sunscreen summers out here! - Hi-Power Jack: I'm currently using my mates pistols, it takes ages to get your own handguns in Australia. Was using the S&W M&P 9 for the first few months but now he's getting me to use his Tanfoglio Stock 2 Xtreme. Super nice of him to let me use his awesome guns each week that's for sure! Oh, and I've just been using factory ammo but will start reloading with him next month (save some dollars and tune the power factor for matches). - Steve RA: Thanks Steve! - NFLcavediver: Thanks mate! Yeah everyone seems really friendly. - my00wrx1: Yes indeed mate, that's being held at the club I go to. My mate wants me to do some comps with him so I'll likely be having a go at that one, should be one heck of an experience! - zhunter: No mate, that's a different Matt Jones, it's a name that's common as mud LOL! - BlueSpaderInfantryMan: Thanks mate! - Sarge: Thanks Sarge! - TN100NZ: Thank you my Kiwi friend! - Jesse Tischauser: Thanks very much Jesse! Unfortunately here in Australia we don't have any 3 gun Semi-Auto rifles and shotguns are banned over here, the closest we could do to replicate that format would be with the likes of a pump rifle and lever shotgun (pump rifles are still permitted but pump shotguns are banned, lever action is permitted for both rifle and shotgun). Thank you for the offer though, I'm sure you'll have some treat pistol tips we can put into play!
  6. Hi Ladies and Gents, My name is Matt, I'm very new to pistol shooting (started in July this year) and just recently found this forum. As crazy as it may sound I discovered the forum because I had bought the book Practical Shooting a year or two ago before ever getting into pistol shooting. I coach BJJ and work in a clinic doing spine rehab so I'm always reading up on coaching styles from people in various areas to keep on learning. The book is obviously great! Anyhow, I'd always wanted to try pistol shooting and after a couple of those 1 hour "come and try" shooting range packages (work social club type things) I decided to make the leap. My wife and I undertook the ITTS Handgun 1 course when visiting Los Angeles (we loved it) and upon returning home to Australia a friend of mine convinced me to accompany him to his IPSC club and that was me hooked. I shoot once a week for a couple of hours and I'm really lucky because my buddy is coaching me and that's proving incredibly helpful. I absolutely love it and I'm also finding most everyone I meet are really nice folks. IPSC seems like a brilliant activity! Well, that's me, thanks guys! Matt
