  1. You might reconsider what you need work on. You can save much more time by increase your splits on "hard" targets (partials) and targets at distance. Trigger freeze generally comes from reflex shooting, if you watch both shots you can do it just as fast and even faster. If you think slapping will take you to the next level, go for it, but I think seeing your second shot and your shooting at 15 yards will increase your scores much faster than the up close stuff. Generally, slapping just makes people sloppy. Just my 2 cents.
  2. Eric- It is a tad longer. I guess that make it "tactical." About 1/2-3/4" I'd guess. EricW - The STI is now a safe queen for a friend of mine, but she is much purtier (she had a trip to Virgil Tripp.) I would never cross breed a STI though with and SVI I like my SVI's they way they are
  3. I won't be at Area 1, I'll be at the Single Stack Classic, Crazy Croc, Area 1 3-gun, Columbia Cascade Championship (if I can shoot it in one day) and the Oregon State Championship. You can always take a fishin' trip, we have lots of river and lakes BTW I'm a scooper and it works for me Must be those Scott grips and hundreds of thousand of draws.
  4. The single single stack match on the 9th
  5. AXX are you going to be in Albany?
  6. But is black, if I do one for real it will be green and hardcromed by Tripp. Steve, the 14 works like a champ. I had to adjust all the mags so the bullets came up higher and didn't nose into the ramp. I called Barsto and they said 3-5 weeks for the trigger stuff and $150-200 buck, versus free All the mods are legal for USPSA according to my understanding. If I ever do production for real I'll get one done right but I don't want to spend $1600 on a XD right now, beside this one does pretty well so far
  7. Production (fixed the XD stock trigger Uncle Mike's Holster) 2.43 30 points. This is a fun one, and this gun rocks!
  8. This thing rocks!!! I fit a 1911 tunsten guide rod, dropped in an 14 lb spring, welded up the trigger bow to remove some of the take up, bent up the trigger springs to make them reasonable (3 lbs), re-cut and polished the sear and firing pin, blacked out the sights. Slap on some grip tape and this thing is going to be a sweet production gun. It freaking rocks!!! 3 - 30 points runs on bang and clang 2.43, 2.55 and 2.59 the first time shooting it with the enhancement (third time total) out of a $20 Uncle Mike's holster. If anyone knows where you can find lighter weight trigger springs drop me a note, I know this trigger can get even better. Any tricks out there? Kudos to Springfield
  9. A different skill set indeed Sort of like the difference between drag racing and open wheel. You go like hell in both, but in one you need to be able to shift gears and turn
  10. Sandoz, a solid B class shooter shooting in D class shouldn't have any nerves
  11. When you are at that point you won't be asking the question, and just because he did it doesn't mean it's what he wanted to do I once shot 2 targets without looking at them through a port with 4 A's, didn't mean to do it then, it just happened. I would not reccomend it.
  12. This my sound dumb, but if you are really watching the sights, you don't see the holes. It is easier to use your sights on every target in my experience.

  15. Dave, good point. I said NPA when I probably should have said index, or point shooting. I know with my limited gun I could knock .2 off relying on my body position and the hundred thousand draws I've probably done, but... ... I would miss 2 times out of 10, AND my transition times are much faster, and more acurate, if I know (visually) where my bullets are going. At a certain point, your lower body position doesn't matter too much, in my opinion. What I was trying to say is that I've found if I flush out my mind and let it be blank and and just stare at the spot I want to hit and make sure I see a crisp front sight on each target, it ends up being a faster run than trying to use my form to "get faster." The eyes, seeing the sight lift, keeps me calm and acurate, and the times are faster. I've found that for me, on these types of stages, if I line up one the center target, twist at the knees and face the left target, everything works better than using NPA on the first a target. I figured that if I had a good surrender draw that I could do this stage in 2.2 with a limited gun. When I got home I figured I read this thread to see what the going times were. I guess my transitions make up for my draw, and I am seeing a crisp flash of the front sight on every target. I'll post a vid when I get a chance and you can see me pause to see a good sight picture on the first shot, then I speed it up a bit.
  16. I got a 2.47 with a 1.3 draw 30 points Limited (yes my surrender draw isn't fast, but I generally hit what I mean to, plus I stay more relaxed when I see what I'm doing.) Shot it for kicks with my new XD Tactical 9mm and a Uncle Mikes holster 3.08 30 points, with an extra shot on the third popper. The trigger added .2 to the draw. I think I need to send it in for a trigger job, shooting that after my SV wasn't easy. I think I'll probably end up dumping a bunch of cash into it and using it for production. I am not a NPA shooter. I like to see the dang sight lift. 2 seconds shouldn't be super hard with an open gun. If I can take .3 off my draw, and .034 the splits, it shouldn't be that hard. (LOL) I think this one put me into that last 5% category, now the work really begins.
  17. To shoot or run needs to be decided before you get to the match. These are the thing that need to be worked out in practice. Then when you get to the match you will know the odds of getting the better hf. Shooting on the move is hard, but it can be worth it. What seperates the best from the rest is accuracy, not shooting on the move, shooting fast, or about anything else. Many lower class shooters will shoot faster, run harder and they will get stomped by those who move less and place their shots where they want them to go. The "small" targets are where big time time can be gained. Just my 2 cents
  18. You can shoot L10 with 15 round mags as long as you only load 10
  19. Did they do anything with the mag release catch?
