  1. What Flex said. I found out my loads for the .40 are running 179 PF after rebareling my .40's. I ran some the other day with my single stack .40 179 pf ammo and el cheapo Uncle Mike holster and all A's repeatable were 2 sec -/+ .2 I ran it with 168 pf ammo also and he times were almost identical.
  2. I use the UM paddle holster for Production and L10. If you want a DOH, you can make a hanger for $1 and about 15 minutes. Take he bandsaw and cut down the front a bit and it works sweet.
  3. I got "warned" for having my can of sight black in my hand while walking through a stage. I'd like to hear Troy's take on this. (No I don't have sights on the lid )
  4. I have tubes and base pads if you want to go that way I would sell cheap. They work, just not the quality of the mags TT has. They have 3 different HI-cap frames and are trying to make 1 mag to work in them all I'm told.
  5. No time soon from the things I've heard.
  6. I have read the post before and agree with Pat's post 10000% The round count neutral might make other folks more open to the idea because some folks aren't as rational as Pat.
  7. One set of gear with handicaps? That's the golf model isn't it? How about 6 round neutral courses, with Open, Limted, Production (no round restrictions just factory mags) and Other (L10, SS, Revo) Ooops not to step on anyone's pet specialty class, but simpler may be better. Not to try to exclude revo's or say they can't hang with evil bottom feeders, but too many classes gets very expensive in match administration and can really watter down the comeptition part of it. Revo shooters know they are shooting gear limited by reloading skill, that is accepted, make the course a little more neutral and don't pigeon hole them into a special class (stick all the round handicapped guns into the same class) and it might actually grow interest in revos and downloaded guns. Don't flame me too bad, just a random thought. ps. I don't know ANYONE who does want those who shot revos not to play the game...
  8. Sweet Flex, .45 Magnum These do a good job of knocking stuff over or severly damaging your steel.
  9. Shred is shooting open also... The ONLY reason I posted in this thread is that many newer shooters try to much for the times at the expense of fundamentals, and that can be very harmful to improvement. Some of the times posted on the net are much faster than those used to win major matches by the best shooters in the world... (nice post shred, especially the part about seeing the sights on every shot)
  10. Then don't cut yourself short, if you are shooting 6 shots at 7 yards ALL A's ALL the time in 1.6-1.7 you are shooting great times... Saul is one of the better shooters in the world and has some of the quicker splits, and those were his words AND shooting open. I've shot matches with great shooters (world champions/multi time national champions) and know their splits and draws aren't the speeds needed to acheive those times. Take that for what you will. Balls to wall pratice times don't mean much. I saw Manny Bragg a couple weeks ago blow a draw, he took the time to re-grip (about a 1.8 draw at 10 yards) and rip of all A's on 8 targets (2 shots each), no spilt was below .2-.22 I'd guess and he easily won the stage. The Bill Drill is about control for me, all A's or nothing counts, the speed isn't the hard part, the all A's is much harder for most.
  11. Get a good instructor and buy a lot of bullets...
  12. 1.5 as an average for masters? That's a .85 second draw and .14 splits. That's a great open class GM score (Saul Kirsch in his book Perfect Practice states his best EVER is 1.47) 2 seconds is a very good score. The key to quicker splits for me is sight (or dot) awareness and trigger prep. Learning to break the shot when the FS comes into the notch and in the A zone is key. Become an obesrver of what happens when you shoot and you will learn a lot.
  13. I would too is I didn't buy $300 worth of 10 round mags and I hove no SS legal mags at all It just waters down the competition IMO.
  14. Looks better than the baby jogger. (My gf's comment)
  15. I'm partial to the XD just have Canyon Creek or me put a trigger on it, sights, and grip tape you are ready to go. My XD's feed everything, but I keep the ramps in good shape.
  16. the best book Shooting fast without accurate being will stunt your improvement in this sport more than just about anything else. Not to worrying about being fast over accurate is the best thing I can recommend,
  17. Wow, and the .45 XD isn't on it. Maybe someone needs to fill out the paperwork to get it on the list. If all the other models are on there I don't understand why it wouldn't be legal. No wonder people want to simplify production class
  18. USPSA Production list? Please tell me where to find it. Last I heard only IPSC has a list.
  19. The grit is super fine. If you need a little bit, send me your address and I'll send you some so you can source it. I know some people like the precut stuff, but at $5 a 3 foot sheet, you can cut a LOT of your own grips out of 3 feet of tape (I use tin snips.) I would say if I though another tape was better, I would be using it. I've seen a lot of tapes. scott@oregonshooting.com
  20. I use a very pliable sticky tape called Black Magic, and it is very good. The Kids at the skate board shop should be able to point you toward their stock.
  21. I think the .460 Weatherby has more punch. I didn't think the kick was bad, but it was stiff, I shot 7 rounds. My buddy is going to africa to shoot some big game, and he said he has to be able to reload it and shoot again in 2.5 second, now that is going to be a feat. He wouldn't let me pull both triggers at the same time, but I did shot it one/two. I can afford a Ruger #1, but are they too light? I don't want something that will blow my arm off, but I don't have the $ for the cool one either.
  22. Impressive $20+ bucks a piece I was told, but if you have 12-20K for one rifle I don't think the cost of ammo is a big deal. Impressive
  23. Merkel .470 Nitro Express It made bowling ball size rocks disappear and the water jugs I shot vaporized. It is just cool.
