Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Actually a buddy of mine has a Beretta branded shotgun with the Benelli recoil system. I am sure it is the exact same thing as the Stoeger. Pretty nice gun especially for the priec. If I remember he paid sub $500 for it.
  2. Hey guys thanks again for all the replies. Looks like I got a lot of work ahead of me. I think part of my problem is I dont shoot enough outside of matches. I guess I just need to deal with it and get a range membership. There was a lot of good ways to try and improve this and I thank you guys again.
  3. I shoot speed steel here locally with a PT92. I love the thing, much more comfortable for me to shoot than the Glock I used to have. But again this is my personal preferance. I also agree that the safety is in a great spot on the PT92, where I shoot here we can use it cocked and locked so I never shoot it from the hammer down position in matches. My only complaint is mine is an older one and I cannot replace the sights, I have gotten used to them some but I would like to have some better ones. I normally get my mags from CDNN, they had some Asian Mil ones there a while back for cheap that have worked great for me. I did have to bend the top of the mag a little because if forced the rounds could be pulled out. It worked fine I just wanted to make sure it was staying where it was. They currently have some Mec gar ones but I have never used those.
  4. Thanks again for all the advice guys. I dont think I am putting any pressure on the trigger guard with that finger but I guess it will be best to try and get rid of the bad habit before it is too late. I will see if someone can video tape or take some pics this next match and see what other bad habits I am doing while I shoot. Will be kind of interesting to see. The last match I shot I had a round where I was stepping forward with my right foot ahead of my left foot. I have never done this before or since. Its interesting to notice what is causing the issues you dont have when dry firing.
  5. Thanks guys for the replies. I guess I will just have to keep working on it. I thought maybe someone would tell me its not a big deal. Oh well looks like more practice for me.
  6. Hey guys I am just curious how I stop doing this. For some reason when I am shooting in a match I always end up with my finger here. I have been working on drawing and dry firing a lot and I don't do this at all then. It only seems to happen when I am shooting matches. Is this going to cause any real issues? Do I really need to fix this problem?
  7. Kind of funny to see you in these parts Chris. There is some good info here. I have been absorbing it since Anousa got me hooked. I am just waiting to shoot the new Glock 19 at the next speed steel. I think USPSA would be kind of a kick and Ill have to give it a try sometime. I would shoot at Albany but it is kind of a cruise and I didnt think I knew anyone who shoots there. I may have to come down for one sometime.
  8. Thanks for the suggesations I will try some nial polish on the sights. I went to the gun store and played with some different guns and for now I am just going to practice with what I have. I live in Tualatin, I shoot the speed steel at tri county I think is the name of it in Sherwood.
  9. Hey all I am new to the forum and competitive shooting. A friend of mine from work kept trying to get me to shoot speed steel and I always felt like I didnt want to shoot in a competitive situation. Well I finally went and had a complete blast. I am shooting an older Taurus PT92 with decocker and it has the older sights that do not have dots on them. They are hard to see and I would like to replace them if possible. Does anyone know where I could find a place to do it and how much it would cost. I live in Oregon so local would be sweet. Also on another tangent, in the competitions I shoot, I start cocked and locked but I am having an issue when turning off the safety, I will sometimes move the lever too far down and it will get into the area of the decocker and the gun will not fire. Is there any easy way to prevent this or will it just come from practice, or along with the above issue would I maybe just be better off selling mine and purchasing a new one? I do really like the feel of the gun and it seems to shoot well for me. Any thoughts are more than welcome. Also there is a ton of great information here, and thanks ahead of time. *EDIT* I was actually working on my grip and noticed that the holes are where the dots should be there is just no color in the hole. Is there any way to just paint them again?
