  1. And for anyone going to the Area 1 Multi Gun. Let me know I'll bring my Limited rifle out with the comp and I'm sure we can find an empty bay to "demo" it.
  2. The pdf file shows the MB556FA comp. Second from the right at the top. Buddy of mine just shot his for the first time yesterday and said it was awesome. Softer than his 20" rifle with a JP and this was on a 16" Rock River. You should be able to get them from any SureFire Suppressor Dealer. Email me and I'll get you some additional info. chuck@andersontactical.com
  3. Yep, the part number is the MB556K for the muzzle break attachment. I have one on a 20" DPMS limited rifle that I use to scare recruits. Pull it out on break and work the corners of a target at about .14 splits. Gun does not move unless I move it. It is a really effective design and doesn't seem too harsh either. Of course I don't think the Coolley comp is harsh though so what do I know. It's priced pretty similar to other comps of that quality. If anyone has any trouble getting one let me know and I'll check with SureFire. It's not listed on the site so it may only be available to Suppressor Dealers for sale.
  4. I actually liked stage 2. We set it up in our section a couple weeks ago and it was pretty similar. I was thoroughly unimpressed with Stage 17. We had two shooters zero the stage after penalties. And talking to the Rangemaster was as usual like talking to a brick wall. The stage stated that you had to press the button and activate a buzzer and strobe light while shooting. The RO said during the walktrhrough that it would be a procedural per shot fired if the buzzer and light weren't going. I told them then that seemed a bit extreme if there was no advantage gained. They said that is the way they were told to score it and that several people had already zeroed the stage, we were the 13th squad to shoot it. One of our first shooters put his finger on the button but didn't realize he had to push it all the way down. 8 procedural. Another shooter had his finger on the button, pushed and had the light and buzzer going for two rounds, it slipped up for four rounds and he got it down for the last two. Didn't matter, he already zeroed it. On the squad in front of us I also talked to a shooter who couldn't hear the buzzer at all during practice. He decided to watch the light before shooting to make sure. Only no one told him there is a 1.5 second delay before the light actually kicks on. He almost missed the drop turner waiting on it. So here is my problem with this. While having your finger on the button, but not pressing it all the way, I don't see an advantage gained worthy of a proc. per shot fired. One procedural yes. If you take your finger off and shoot it freestyle that would definitely be a per shot fired to me. Or if you do any one of several other things. But not standing in exactly the same position as stipulated, just not pushing on button three pounds harder. I suggested chatting with the CRO and RM, both of which didn't work and the two shooters didn't want to get a Nationals stage thrown out by arbitrating it. Especially when the RM said that if they won the Arb, it wouldn't change any previous shooters scores, just future ones. So you'd have 150 shooters that got penalized one way and the rest not??? The MD actually came down and said that it was an advantage to not have the light and siren going . I don't know of anyone else but I doubt anyone other than BJ Norris could have seen the light while shooting it was set so low and even with electronic muffs I didn't hear the weak siren. By a rough count over 50 people zeroed that stage. A nationals placement shouldn't be based on a silly little gimmick like that. (And no I didn't get any procedurals on it.)
  5. I'm glad I didn't sign up. I've got 7 D's, 7 mikes and a no shoot. And two stages left.
  6. Jake Kempton has used an AR at many MOR matches with the gas system turned off. It has been allowed in the past for many years. It will ba allowed again.
  7. Jerry is using a Performance Center 1911 with a Techwear Techwell.
  8. We will have water available on the range. We will do sandwich orders in the morning that will be delivered around lunch time.
  9. Stage 10 is a lot of luck. It's 16 rounds with 4 steel, two fast clam shell targets, and 4 swingers with what I hope is hard cover and not a no shoot as listed above. If you catch the timing your superman. Looks like Dave almost got it but ate 2 mikes and still was in 6th on the stage. Not that Robbie isn't good but that stage is gonna come down to someone hanging it out and connecting.
  10. You can hit the USPSA.org site and go to the Forums section. There's a pretty complete listing of the proposed rules and everyone's arguments for and against. I'm not sure when the final vote will be. I was thinking too, if you didn't want to just waste a gun, you could buy a basic gun with the slide you want, put the new slide on your gun and use the frame for a CZ Cadet 22 conversion kit. Fun plinker and your putting the money to some use. If the rule goes your way and you can mill the slide for the front sight, you can just put your old topends back on the guns and have a back up gun for big matches.
  11. Mill them and hope they're legal next year, get a new gun or the other answer was get a new CZ85 Slide. Should be legal, but I'm not sure what the cost for that would be.
  12. I had no problem getting sub 3" groups out of several different Glocks with this ammo.
  13. I'll ask Angus tomorrow if he's got any ideas. I know what his answer will be but I'll ask anyway.
  14. There seem to be quite a few less hippies here in Montana than Eugene.
  15. Is it a front dot sight? If it is just plain black you might be able drill the sight and put a fiber optic rod in.
  16. Holy cow, this one is legit. You can actually find the application and match info on the IDPA website.
  17. He did say yes or no. The last part of the sentence "but it must be a part of the rifle." If it ain't attached you're good to go.
  18. Might want to take a look at getting one direct from Matt Mink or Angus. You're paying way too much for a trigger job and 18 months is really not necessary. You can get an SP-01 fully tricked out for less than that and an 85 would be cheaper than that. I know you don't want to spend the money right now on a new gun but your options right now are: Get the sight cut done, it's legal now but who knows come January. Leave the gun alone and shoot it as is. Or get a newer gun, either to replace your current or as a backup. I'm always going to land on the side of buying the new gun. My wife hates it.
  19. I met Stew at the 2004 Ironman in Idaho. One of his first big matches. One of the nicest guys I've ever met and always had a great attitude. Quick story. We were shooting a stage and Stew gets about 3/4 of the way through it. Now keep in mind this is an Ironman stage so he's probably already run 200-250 yds. He picks up his shotgun, fiddles with it, then looks at the RO and yells, "The TSA locked my shotgun!" This was a Remington with the keylock safety and TSA apparently though it would be safer to give that little fella a twist. The RO looks a Stew and asked if he had a key. When Stew said yes, in his car in the parking lot, the RO just looks at him and says, "well times running." Stew completed that stage, which I was still breathing hard 40 minutes later from, after running to his car for his key to unlock his shotgun. I'll never forget after that stage. No complaining. Not upset, just a statement to get a new safety for that gun ASAP. Stew was a great guy and I'll miss him. Chuck Anderson
  20. I like it, think it will stick? Chuck Anderson from this day forward you will also be known as Lesbian Veteran As far as the video. I don't really know what people are complaining about. That is some of the finest combat shotgunnery I've ever seen. The leaning back, bladed posture, rocking back and forth with those magnum birdshot rounds. And clearly they are fine tacticians, loading their handguns with only one round (and not even chambering it) to show their domination over any foe. I think I might go down there and learn some skills to whoop up on y'all.
  21. And the table will be better for Open than L-10. There are 224 shooters (rough count I'm sure I'm a couple off) in Open and 157 in L-10. Total attendance looks like 381. They normally (although not at the 2005 LPR) base the tables off of attendance in each division. The division with the higher percentage of shooters gets the higher percentage of prizes.
  22. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on the sponsor list. These are companies that have already committed to sponsoring the Area 1 Multi Gun match. There are still several others that are interested, they just haven't said yes or no 100%. The list is in alphabetical order. 23. Unless this is a new regulation, I wouldn't bring more than 11lbs. I've flown Alaska many times and been asked if I have more than 11lbs of ammo. Probably depends on which airport you leave from. I think you must have run into gate agents Chuck that don't know their own policy. AlaskaAir, in my experience, has never said a word about how much ammo I'm bringing. My best recommendation would be to print a copy of their own policy from their website and bring it. Clears things up quick once they read it. Here's a link to their policy for anyone who needs it: http://www.alaskaair.com/www2/help/faqs/Sp...elatedItems.asp I know airline policies but I almost got kicked off the plane in Detroit last month because they didn't know theirs. I have had really bad luck arguing those policies at the ticket counter. I've even been told that local policies supercede corporate policies. Your choice if you want to take the chance but some of them can be real butts.
