  1. 45, Did you have Angus put the 85 trigger in your SP01? Matt is setting me up with an SP01 that will be ready to race in less than a week, (I hope). Can't wait to get it. Matt said the 85 trigger makes the reset even shorter. A local shooter had one of Angus' SP01's and the DA was 5-6 lbs, silky smooth and the SA was no more than 2 lbs. I tried pulling the takeup on the SA and AD'd it 4 times! You couldnt hardly feel the takeup, then the resistance, it almost felt the same.
  2. I meant it had the best stages Prize table was sweet too. I know, I was just razzing you.
  3. Matt, Of course it was, you won it last year!!! I would hope it was one of or the favorite
  4. I dont know about that 925 fps. Im sure it does 925, but I wouldnt trust that at major matches. 7 fps is not very much breathing room for making major. Any variance (and there is a lot) in chrono's, weather, barrels or etc and you're screwed. Id go with at least 25-30 fps "buffer" safety cushion for matches.

    Kkm For G17

Some drop ins fit fine, other require a little bit of work. My fit perfectly and hasnt malfunctioned yet, shoots great. Im sure it is only a very small amount of fitting.
  6. A little off topic, but I know Wolff makes a lighter trigger spring, but does that trigger spring work the reset and how fast the trigger resets? I think it does, but want to make sure. I know the Glock trigger spring is heavier than the Wolff, but I would like to speed up trigger return/reset. Also, John, did you get the MO for the tungsten rod? Plus, you think Charlie's kit is a little lighter than Ralph's? Is the break lighter or easier/smoother? Thanks
  7. I've thought about it, but CNC capacity is so unbelievably tight here locally, it isn't even funny. In order to make a profit, you need CNC capacity in house, and I don't want to be in the CNC business. I want to be able to buy it from Brazos, put it on my gun and be done with it. Off to the shop to cobble up my old microdot into kind of what I want and maybe post a picture if I don't muck it up too bad. The problem with my sight is that it would have exactly ZERO curb-appeal. It wouldn't be a miracle device, just a normal sight with a small, FO helper to improve tracking in poor/difficult lighting. Nobody is going to dislocate their shoulder going for their credit card on that one. Gotcha. You could have one machined (or do it yourself) to your specs. The first thing that I noticed that was the main drawback for me for pretty much all the FO sights out there is that there's not enough black at the top. Voigt's advice was have as much black at the top as you do at the sides, so if you have a .040 fiber/hole in a .100 sight, have the hole centered at .050 so that you have .030 all the way around. Mine's pretty close to those specs, but if I were to have it built again, I'd do things a bit different. Same .040 rod, but a .110-.115 sight with the rod centered .070-080 from the top so there's even more black to focus on (the overall height of the sight would be between .195 and .210). I'd also have a lot less slant in the viewing surface. The second thing that I noticed that was a pretty big drawback for me for pretty much all the FO sights out there is that they're far too long. You don't need that much FO to have the thing draw your eye to it, so all you end up doing with a long FO sight is decreasing sight radius. Also, on the thinnest ones the brightness ends up washing out the black sides and top. As far as curb appeal goes, if you come at it from the right point of view and explain why you've manufactured the sight the way you have, I think it would have curb appeal. As far as the width goes, the thickness helps you focus on it to make more difficult shots. The serrations reduce glare. The "lowness" of the fiber optic in the body of the sight gives you more black at the top to, again, help make precision shots. And the fiber optic is there to do its intended job, not as an aiming aid, but as a visual cue to help you locate and track the front sight, i.e. not to help you call your shots. ETA: a shot of my sight. Gorilla, Who made that one? What size is the FO (.040) and what width is the front sight? Thanks,
  8. If it doesnt prohibit them from doing it, let them. The only loss is their money b/c I dont think shaving an ounce or two is going to make any difference. As far as other mods, we'll have to look at each of them separately, but I personally dont think shaving a couple ounces is making any difference, unless it makes the gun more reliable, like Daniel's case. I dont think Dave S does much of anything (besides sights and few lightened springs) to his gun and you cant argue with his results, he shoots like a scalded dog!! My opinion, just goes to show that practice/trigger time and mastering the fundamentals is what counts. Even if they allow it, I wouldnt do anything to my 34 other than what Ive done, sights, lightened springs.
  9. Mike, Im sending one of Dave's SH holsters back to have him set it lower. He told me it wouldnt be a problem. The only issue I had with it was that it sat too high and after having shoulder surgery, it was a pain pulling it to my armpit all the time.
  10. I agree wholeheartedly Eric. Eric and I were in the same class and Manny did an excellent job, congrats Manny. I'll take another class from Manny anytime.
  11. Chad, get w/ me on Friday night and I'll explain it. Kevin
  12. Chuck and everyone else attending, YOU LUCKY DOGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im waiting for Dave to get here in Florida to get a class with him. He is an outstanding champion/shooter and even better person. Can't say enough. Enjoy guys!!
  13. Just leave it alone and play the game as it already is. I know some of the Beretta or Sig guys might complain, but I have a 226ST that Bruce Gray did the trigger job on and holy sh&t, is it AWESOME!!! The DA pull is about 6lbs, (silky smooth) and the SA is as good as any 1911 I have ever owned. No BS either. The SA is 2lbs, maximum and the reset is insane. The reset beats any 1911, STI or SVI Ive ever touched. Ask Smitty, he almost dropped a kidney when he felt the reset. If you think about it, it's reset. Im guessing here, but 1-2mm reset, max! Awesome gun, now there is no way in the world that my Glock 34 with Ralph Sotelo trigger kit (at 2.75lbs, stacking and longer reset than factory) is better than my Sig 226ST that Bruce did. The Sig trigger job his hands down better, way better, but I dont shoot the gun as good as I do the Glock, so I stuck with the Glock. If you're looking at just trigger pull weights, the Sig (after the first shot and how many of those are in a match) is way ahead of my Glock. Just leave it alone and dont fix what isn't broke. Let's just shoot man!!!!
  14. Eric, You just had to start again huh?? Yeah, I can definitely Manny's influence on this one, Im still salivating to get back to the range and try the drills Manny gave us that weekend. I was out of town for 5 days due to my grandfather's funeral, but have to get back on the horse now. Remember, Miguel could be your brother in law someday, HAHAHA, (inside joke).
  15. Ive never had any problems with Kytac. Dave has always been nice fairly easy to deal with. Ive ordered from him 3 different times and he has always delivered pretty close to when he said he would. He makes some damn good gear and its what I currently use in Production. Im getting him to modify my Super Hooper holster to sit a little lower and I think he makes the fastest stuff for Production.
  16. Leo, I have no idea how to work that stuff, Im lucky Im computer literate enough to post.
  17. Sat night after dinner, I ran thru the DQ and grabbed a Blizzard. Havent had DQ in at least 3 years, it was the perfect desert. After having that, I fell asleep like a baby. No prob Cliff, when I go again three years from now, I'll pick you one up, what do you like?? Sandro, go ahead and send me the picture, I'll post it, I couldnt care less. Sharon, you're right, real world tactics can hurt sometimes in IPSC.
  18. Nah, this I will handle all by myself, behind the scenes. Dispatch... 51 county one time, start ICE enroute. Sandro, forgot to tell you. The 2 weeks ago, my cousin married an ICE agent and my other cousin is a Marshall. I'll book ya, one will write your deport paperwork, the other will fly you out. Our own version of "All in the Family".
  19. Maybe a Clearwater Cop wearing lipstick? No, more like someone taking advantage of someone taking a nap, who just happened to be a LEO. BIG MISTAKE Sandro. Sorry to be you bro! Sandro, can you say I.C.E.??? Your new word for the day is "deportation" and that picture won't save you. Nice knowing you bro. Evil wink.
  20. Leo, Todd and Chuck on the basic reasons. One, like Todd says, the Open gun is impractical to a SWAT guy. Now, depending on the course of fire, like Chuck says, depends on who wins. If you're talking about courses 30yards and beyond, the subgun has a huge advantage. If you're shooting close targets and lots of transitions, the Open gun will win. When we do our drills, I can knock out targets 30-60 yards very easily and pretty quickly and still have center A zone hits, pretty much. It would take a bit longer with the Open gun. Plus, one of the reasons for the subgun, especially on entries, is overwelming firepower. Going full auto on a target 7 yards and in (ie search warrant) and giving them 4-6 rounds is a lot faster and overpowering than with the Open gun. Plus an Open gun can not do entries for the obvious numerous reasons. From the draw and beginning, of course shouldering a weapons is going to be longer than shooting your Open gun. Now, plate racks, I think the Open gun wins, again, a GM shooting Open. I can hose the plate racks pretty quick with my subgun, so if you've got a B or C shooter, I can probably take them, but not GM's. All depends on stage design, transitions, distance of targets, etc. Subgun is useful for the longer shots and overwelming firepower in close. Again, the obvious idea for overwelming firepower is to put them down as fast as possible.
  21. The trigger is not that bad. With it tuned, I bet you will see a lot of people shooting them. Cant be that bad, Ernest already shot one in IDPA and came in second. Plus, he was shooting the .40 in 4".
  22. I thought years ago 6+, that they had a quick demonstration of that. I think it was JoJo Vidanes and a tactical/SWAT operator with his HK MP5. They shot either poppers or plates, I think it was like 8-10 of them. JoJo smoked him BAD!! That was about the time when tactical/SWAT guys were really into the lasers and thought it was the Holy Grail. I think everyone started to re-think lasers and looked at red dots afterward. Now, Im a SWAT guy myself and could tell you in a second, I practice w/ my subgun a lot, but also have been a GM in Limited for a while and I could probably run faster times with my Limited gun than the sub. It is mainly b/c of the over a decade of IPSC shooting and practice with a handgun.
  23. Lynn, You guys going to have an all day Friday shoot along with Sat/Sun? Thanks,
  24. I dont think the grip angle is different, but I think the shorter grip makes it point a little different for some because it doesnt have the full grip and humps and curves in it like the full size models. When I shot 1911's, I also noticed I pointed the compact and subcompacts better than the full size models. BTW, G32 is a great choice. G32 w/ Surefire X200 is my house gun. I feel very well protected. The .357 Glock rock, not much recoil or flip, but you can tell the recoil is straight back at you and not in the flip. It feels like a 38 super almost.
