  1. My wife sent me the email on these. They are pretty amazing!
  2. I think the reliability question is a 50/50. Yes, for some it is just as reliable, but theres always the X factor that the extractor, ejector, slide/breechface of a G35 are not for 9mm, so there is the chance it won't work. The IDPA questions I dont know, I dont shoot IDPA. As far as the cheapest barrel for a G35, I dont know the cheapest, but only what I have used. I would watch the "cheapest" idea, cause if it shoots like crap, you havent saved any money at all, probably spent more of it. I have a KKM, Barsto, Glock factory barrels currently in various Glocks and all are very accurate and 100% reliable. I also had a Jarvis about 10 years ago and it was also very reliable and super accurate.
  3. 021411, Yes the Sevigny rear notch is wider, but I also had used a Heinie rear about a year ago when I made the switch. I had some concern regarding my accuracy when I switched b/c I like smaller sights, more accurate, aim small, miss small, etc. I talked with Dave about this and he assured me that if given the proper time to practice, I would adjust to this and shoot long shots just fine. He said he shoot 50 y with these with no problems and makes tight sights without any difficulty. He said being used to the smaller sights would take a little getting used to, BUT, the larger sights would enable me to shoot more accurately, AT SPEED. The larger sights, at speed, would be easier to pick up, see, and call my shots with. They were better for speed, but small enough to make accurate shots for IPSC related scenarios. After having had them for a year +, I agree, he was definitely right.
  4. Come on Eric, tell us who it is? You're now getting sleepy
  5. Sure, Professional Curtiousity goes a LOOOOONNNGGG way! Or TJ can give up some free lessons!
  6. Not herd anything, but Smitty probably knows and he's holding out. I say we thump'em, its what I do at work if these situations occur, Leo like?
  7. My sincerest condolences to Taran and his family.
  8. Basically what Brian and Jake and Flex said is what Todd teaches. I always thought it would be slower, but if you try it, it actually faster. You think you have time and wind up getting to the box and you're not finished with the reload yet. Todd always said to finish the shot, reload first and then move. Do 1 thing at a time.
  9. Or, John could just make a tungsten slide! That would be one helluva project.
  10. We had several misfires also, but ours was due to reloaded frangible ammo from ammo/reloader shop locally. When we used factory stuff, it was 100% reliable. Cheap reloads was our cause, no doubt.
  11. Excellent Kevin, thanks. Will you be testing any 9mm (147gr) stuff? Let us know how they group.
  12. I also got a KKM in my G20 and very happy with it.
  13. Ive got a Barsto in my G34 9m and like it, Ive had no issues. It was already in the gun when I bought it.
  14. John, I agree. When testing it for our team, I also opted for the biggest insert. I really like the palm swell on it, dont you?
  15. Just let us know when and where. I would like to try the trigger feel before buying one. Clay, you going to be shooting Florida State Championship, Area 6, Prod Nats, Tennessee Section or Monster Match this year? I'd like to get with you then.
  16. Nice shooting David Olhasso. You were only 2.5 seconds off of Todd from winning it all. Nice job.
  17. Tell me about it Duane! I would say upset, but Phil and Ernest are no slouch/upsets. That must have been a helluva match, wouldve love'd to watch that one.
  18. Nice article Patrick, just got done reading it. I havent gotten a chance to shoot minor 40 loads out of it, but only duty full power stuff as we're testing it for our Team. Nice gun though, I think it could have a bright future in Production. Havent been able to look inside the "guts" yet as we've just been shooting it (The entire team on one gun cause S&W only sent us one), but would like to break it down more.
  19. This past weekend, Feb 24th, 25th, 26th. He's going to Iraq on the 15th of March and be back in June. I'm going to try to see him again when he get's back to do a refresher and take the advanced class. Hey congrats on last weekend! I saw your score. Those stages are nothing like our local matches. To make it even Frank made us all shoot it as a Limited 10, since another guy and myself were shooting Limited guns and the other two were shooting a Glock and a Springer XD. Baseball was fun but the NASCAR stage was a pain to figure out. Yeah, diagnosing stages w only 10 rds is different. Im hoping to get in maybe 1 day before he heads out.
  20. Pretty informative. Good timing, we just had our SWAT training day this week and a rep came in from the parent company that owns Speer/Gold Dot. There are 2 methods of producing "bonded" bullets and they hold the patent on 1 of them. I wont use or carry anything else but Gold Dot. We set up our gelatin test with clothing, spec'ed windshield glass, drywall, plywood, stucco, you name it, and tested numerous handgun, rifle and shotgun rounds through each and measured the expansion, penetration, retained weight, retained size, velocity, (everything). Test took all day, but what a great test. We actually got to see what does what and what "really" happens when it hits this stuff. I brought some "other brand" ammo from home I have bought in the last year and tested it against the Gold Dot. I wont carry anything but Gold Dot now. The Gold Dot went through everything with flying colors, had the highest retention of weight, size, reliability of expansion, etc. By far IMO outperformed the rest. The "bonded" bullets are definitely better for all types of targets and possible barricades or other objects the bullet might strike before hitting the target and still reliably expand and keep its weight and size. Other bullets that are not bonded or the "other bonded" method just didn't do nearly as well. Again IMO.
  21. Clay, I agree, the 40 minor is just as soft as the 9mm. When I went to Prod about 15 months ago, I shot my G35 in Prod with minor loads to see if this is something I liked and wanted to try and shoot for a while. I then stepped up and bought a 34/17 and shot 9mm. I think I am quicker w/ 9mm and get much more consistent/better recoil out of the 9mm than the 40 minor. But the consistent recoil pattern of the 9mm is why I stuck w/ it for Prod, but the 40 minor was just as soft. I always got more of a circular, torquing recoil out of the 40 minor rather than the consistent up and down track w/ 9mm. John and Clay, I think the trigger is just as good or better (more like better) than the Glock, OUT OF THE BOX. The trigger is probably the best out of the box for Prod guns right now. Now, any work done to a Glock trigger is going to make it better, IMO. But Ive already heard there was talk from a few S&W shooters saying they can easily do trigger jobs on the MP. I think the trigger is good enough to shoot in matches right now, but not trick all the way though.
  22. Hey Leo, Jeff and I shot on the same squad Fri for Fl Open. Jeff thought there would be more SS shooters and plus, he was doing so to help his sponsor for the new division. Either way, Jeff always shows up prepared and ready to shoot a consistent match. I love shooting with Jeff, very down to earth, practical guy. Helluva guy, couldnt ask for a better friend.
  23. Sounds good DP, I dont know how they'd shoot in my Glock, but Ive been getting pretty good prices for 9mm stuff from Henry Swartout and Angus. I just picked up several thousand 9mm 147's JHP from Swartout for $50 a thousand at Fl Open. I got the others from Angus for $53/thousand for 147gr 9mm jack, delivered. The groups seem OK though, huh?
  24. Flex, I think you're right. There was some rumor going around after Prod Nats last year w/ Matt Mink mentioning something about a .15 split or faster on a partial. Very nice Chuck!
