  1. Hopefully all the AW ban laws go away in Sept 2004 http://www.awbansunset.com
  2. They should not have to beat you with the smart stick too much...You really get a beating when you are shooting and hear poof, then pull the trigger again for a bang. Just be glad you are not rebarreling right now.
  3. I hoper you were using a proper grip....
  4. You can also replace the bolt with a hangarbolt, and a knob.
  5. Unclean guns are great for putting black smudges on the RO's shirt. Provided he is standing off to your Right where the brass hits him/her.
  6. I just switched the sight on my 625. What shred is talkign about is the new sight does not have a retaining pin hole in it. You need to aquire a drill bit that is the correct size, 1/16" is not it by the way. You place the new sight in the slot and drill through using the existing pin hole as a guide. On Aluminum guns you need to put the sight in and mark the hole, remove the sight, then drill it on a drill press.
  7. Something that would probably work well thinking about it in retrospect would be to heat the holster. Then bag it and vacuum pump form it. Similar to the methods uses for forming veneer. This might save on the hot hands routine.
  8. Quote: from Flexmoney on 11:03 pm on Feb. 16, 2003 You guys are right on! Stage designers need to know their customers. Can I get an Amen... While I am on the soap box: I shoot a revolver in USPSA, and I am constantly amazed at the comments I get. The first match I went to I had about 10 guys moan and groan everytime I got up to shoot. Not to mention every stage at that club was 22 shot friendly. The last time I shot there they had a stage with a popper at 20 yds with a no shoot right behind it. That really makes you groan when you brain goes. "Sight, Shoot, Miss, Damn -10, Sight, Shoot, Clang"

Just remember Viagra and Rogaine were both invented by Men for Men...............
  10. I am not a Doctor but I play one on TV..... Personally I do not, and would not rely on someone else for my final work product. In other words if I am responsible for a project I would double check even the simplest of things to be sure of the outcome. Did you know that airline pilots run through a check list, most of which is deminial, trivial things? However it is for a purpose, if the oil presure were reading low when checked, althougth it is not the pilots job to change the oil, he would most likely stop the flight to prevent an inflight disaster. Furthermore according to the FAA the pilot has the authority to ground the plane, and is ultimately repsonsible for the GO / NO GO descision for a flight. I really do nto think Rufus was being hateful, he was acting frustrated at the fact that the Doctors did not perform even a cursory review of the facts before surgery. Essentially the further up the management food chain you are the more responsible you are. And in this case the Team of Doctors was ultimately responsible for the outcome of their actions.
  11. Vacuum cleaners and primers, always exciting. Seriously when reloading you should wear a good pair of safety glasses. You may look like a dork, you may get jazzed by your friends. However it is damn hard to sight in your gun if you loose your eyes.

    LAMR

Quote: from TheOtherErik on 3:27 pm on Jan. 6, 2003 This is one of my biggest pet peeves. It should take you less than a min to load your gun a make ready. There is no need to take a 15 sight pictures and dry fire on every visible target from the start box. Also you shoulden't be able to practice your draw and exit from the start position 10 times. Once is sufficent. Dry firing and draw practice should be done at home. Some people also mentaly visualise the entire COF after the LAMR in the starting box using thier hands. This should be done during the walkthru or when your are on deck. When you are called to shoot you should be ready equipment wise and mentally. Doing your preparation in the start box only delays everyone else. While there is no real need for 15 sight pictures, there is a need for a practice draw or two. When I step in the box for a stage I take a couple practice draws and a sight picture. The reason I do this is every stage has a different geometry to it. For example shooting 99-10 your first target is in front of the box, however if you are shooting 99-48 your first target is at a 30 degree angle to the left. In 99-10 I am standing prepared to move to the right immediately after the 6th shot. In 99-48 I am posed slightly different. I would be standing facing 30 deg left and rotating 60 deg right. The draws for these stages are different, so I set up in the box and check my hand positions, draw, etc. at LAMR.
  13. Quote: from spook on 7:14 am on Feb. 10, 2003 What would be really annoying is to cut and paste the entire book to be read by Windows' irritating computer voice. I think he's called Sam and you can have great fun with him. I though Bill Gates hired Jim Scoutten for that voice
  14. Quote: from HighTechRedneck on 9:29 am on Feb. 21, 2003 For pistols I only reload 9, 357, and 45, of these rounds 9 to me is the hardest to resize. Make things easier on yourself, use One Shot case lube even with the carbide dies. Dittos on the One Shot, that stuff is the greatest case lube I have ever found.
  15. I have tried to work up a Tite Group load, but it just does not have enough umphhh for 45 ACP Revo loads to make major and stay clean. I am woring on a load now using HP-38 and 200 LSWCRN bullets. The published data says it will make 170 PF, but I have to Chrony it to see. Make sure when you build your loads you take into account the ambient air temp for where you are shooting. If you shoot where it is hot (100 deg), or cold (32 deg) you will have a PF variation from the powder efficiency.
  16. If the bullet goes to a S&W 627 Revo, it may be a .354 9mm bullet. A lot of the ICORE guys shoot the 627's 38 super with a 9mm sized Bull Barrel.
  17. For future reference you may want to get an Otis cleaining kit, or one of those Pull rope style cleaners. Pull it through the primer tubes and steel containment case once a month to keep the residue buildup in check. This will help to prevent buildup. Just do not use any solvent or oil on the swabs.
  18. I made the D class last year in Revolver, and am just a few points from becoming a C class after 8 classifiers. I am going for B in Revolver this year and a C or B in Production.
  19. The only time I ever saw primers chain react was on an automated reloader. A friend of mine was trying to get it working right (he bought it used in pieces) and it did not have a primer tube weight. He rigged one up from some wire and a small clamp on weight. Luckily he only put about 15 primers in the tube to test it. He put the wire/weight primer tube weight in place, kick the switch and the vibrabration of the machine starting up set the primers off. After cleaning our pants and patching the ceiling we thought it best to just order a part.
  20. That really stinks that she is dead from the weakest of excuses. Doctors get thinking too much about the complex issue and then miss something simple like blood types or alergies etc.
  21. Common sense? in USPSA and IPSC...Where? Someone once told me IPSC stood for Intelligent People Squabling Constantly.
  22. I would go with the 650. I have a 550 and the auto indexing feature is about the only thing missing. I just wish I had tossed an extra $100 in and bought a 650.
  23. You might consider a fluted bull barrel. That way you have the advantage of the bull barrel, without the weight.
  24. Quote: from Ron Ankeny on 2:01 pm on Feb. 21, 2003 Vince: How about sweeping the RO when a competitior loads or reholsters after showing clear? I have noticed that some of the forward cant carry holsters being used in production cause the pistol to be aimed at the lower extremities of the RO from time to time. I think the rule regarding Holster angles covers this. 5.3.6 Competitors shall not be permitted to commence a course of fire wearing: 5.3.6.4 A holster with the muzzle of the handgun pointing farther than 1 meter from the competitor's feet while standing relaxed. Additionally if you Sweep an RO chances are you just broke the 180.
