  1. Ran a L10 single stack for years without a problem. Gives you the option of Single Stack or Limited 10 with a mag change. I now shoot an STI 2011 for the L10 to Limited option. I notice very little difference in my reload times. If anything it helped my reloads stating where I did.
  2. They are pretty good a giving you leeway on your set up as long as it isn't race oriented. I only remember seeing one or two at a match that had the entire duty rig. Everyone pares down for weight if nothing else.
  3. Tripps work well, Metalform were OK but had to keep them very clean. Wilson 45 mags worked well in all three of mine but not in others. They are a bit more finicky seems like but if they run, they run well. Might want to get one and see before ordering several.
  4. Opening no grearter than say 5/8 larger total than the frame. Steel would be nice but...
  5. They have a great reputation. I went the Brownells route. Got one of there Boron coated barrels and BCG combos. Took it to the range yesterday and it is a hoot. Quarter sized groups with a 2 MOA red dot at 30 yards without even really trying. Only mention it as a slightly cheaper option if you already have a stripped upper and handguard.
  6. Larue's repeatability is better than AD (I have both). If it is going to stay on the gun it may be a wash. From what I have seen (I don't have a JP) the JP is great but only for leaving it on the gun, and they are cheaper. All really depends on what you want it for. I just bought a new Leupold and plan on putting it in a JP as it will stay on that gun, all my others (except one) have Larue's so I can go from red dot to a 4-16 scope and not have to worry.
  7. Check the holster fit section of thier website. It is far better than it used to be and I remeber they have some models listed for the short/wide, long... options. Make sure it is one for it though. I bought one of thier less expensive ones for a Springfiled Operator figuring it would be fine and it works pretty good for one STI but not the other. I think the upswing in LEO's using 2011s has made them be more specific in thier models. I think there is an ALS model that is made for the STI. I use one for my Glock in 3 Gun and it is slick.
  8. I have one on almost every AR I own. They all hold zero. Best on the market as far as I am concerned.
  9. I only have a few hundred rounds through mine but so far so good. The follower did F'up one time but I managed to get it back in with no problems. Ryan you are correct, I have two of the GenII Chainsaw lowers and they won't work. The bevel is too angled to let it latch.
  10. Biggest concern is the shotshell carriers (i.e. caddies). I have the Otto 4 shell caddies I use in Outlaw (will have to take off the ELS to work on my duty belt but thats fine) and can't really find anything that defines what is allowed. I have Bladetech Glock and AR pouches that should be fine. Talked to the NRA guys and they said the ELS is out (which I figured) the down side is I am cobbling together gear for it as my agency is CHEAP (gotta love low bidder) and much of my "duty gear" has fallen apart. I generally wear everything on my chest rig/body armor which is complicating the matter. Shouldn't be a problem in the end anyway. Keep any other examples coming.
  11. Thanks for the input guys keep it coming. I work for an agency that is cheap to no end and the gear we give seems purposely hindering. I already run Outlaw so trying to not have to go and buy all new gear AGAIN. Thanks guys, keep it coming.
  12. I am going to one of the NRA Tactical Police Competition matches in LA next month and wondered what people who have already attended are running gear wise? I have a Safariland ELS setup for Outlaw and figure my 771 pistol mag pouches are out but I can make due with some 74's I have (I think they past muster) but not sure if my ELS belt and clip set up will work. What are you running, even if it is straight duty issue stuff? Thanks for the input.
  13. The fit and finish of mine is great. The only problem was the hole for the grip screw is very tight. To the point that I almost had to strip the screw head when changing the pistol grip. Other than that, mine has had zero problems (the upper won't take the Magpul Bad Lever).
  14. I talked to them back in late June or early July and was told August release. I have a feeling that they don't even know. This has been going on for pushing two years now. They sponsor 3 Gun Nation, create a ton of interest in a product and then don't release it. Come on, I know they have huge military contractd but come on, talk about backwards business practices.
  15. Danny, I have a 2-8 that I use but what cattail did you put on it? Been wanting to do that but never found which one would work.
  16. I am thinking of getting some of these for Outlaw 3 Gun but I have a couple of SNL basepads setting around. Would anyone know if you can get one of the Arredondo or other spacers, cut to fit it to the mag and be good to go with the normal Dawson Pads? Any help would be appreciated.
  17. Lothar Noveske Rainer Ultra Match White Oak In that order but the differences are not huge. They are all darn fine barrels but if I had to rate them it would be thus.
  18. You can do some things with it to play with the weight. I have a railed non-ramped 45acp with a Techwell grip and magwell (grip is the hollowed out kind) and a GI guide rod. Weighs in at 42.6 oz. If you replace the mainspring housing with an aluminum one you can save wieght that way. My former railed ramped 9mm had to have the techwell grip system and the aluminum MSH and it was still 43.5 due to the added weight in the barrel. Long story not so short, you can play with it but the rail does limit you in the wieght catagory.
  19. I know and shoot with the owner Kenny. Good guy, you won't have a problem.
  20. Post pics PLEASE!! I went so far as to call FN after two different dealers couldn't find them listed. The lady I talked to at FN stated it was slated for a late summer release. This made me think "Yea, Sept to Nov we will actually see it". Would love to see what the barrel should look like. SHOW ME, SHOW ME!
  21. I am currently running a 10# recoil with a 15# mainspring. 147gr minor loads run VERY flat recoil impulse. The 15# mainspring did bring the trigger down a bit but don't have a way to measure it.
  22. I bought one a few months back. Let me preface by saying I have never used a DAA, Safariland, CR Speed, Arredondo or any other "race" holster so take the opinion for what it is worth. The Blade Tech works fairly well if you cinch down the tension fairly tight. I only notice the tension when loading at make ready. The one draw back that I have found it when you decide to set down in a chair. Most matches with taping, reloading, etc there isn't a huge amount of time to set but when stages back up I have started to take one of the fabric folding camp type chairs with me (also keeps the bag out of the muck when the ground is wet). I have to be careful when setting in the chair as any rearward pressure on the magwell can knock the gun a bit out. It has never fallen out but I have had to push it back into the holster to be fully seated. Again it has never come close to falling out but maybe a quarter inch out. I am a fairly big guy and would probably not set in a plastic or wooden chair with arms on it due to the possibilities. All in all, I am satisfied with it but there are things to consider.
  23. I use Dawson's Gap magwell and basepads to very good effect. They are always top notch. Wilson or Chip mags are always on top of the list in 45. One thing to make sure of is you weight. Unless I am totally off base with it (I don't think so as my custom rail gun has the problem) the total wieght of the gun with an empty mag is 43oz. I am trying to figure the best way to shave 2oz off mine as it sets at 45oz with the Dawson magwell, FLGR, Bomar sights and Gunner grips. Just food for thought.
  24. I have three guns build by Fusion and all work like butter. Had initial problems with the first two (done as a twin 9mm and 40S&W pair) but was corrected promptly. The double stack has run out of the box. Time frames are another matter but dealing with vendors for parts is an old problem with anything in business and probably won't change. I have another one on the way. The only place I have ever known that doesn't charge you for changes in the build. That said, the best way I have found is to call them, talk to Bob about what you are wanting and send along pictures if you feel there is ANY misunderstanding. Finaly note, he can build a 40S&W non-ramped 1911 that runs for less than any other place I have ever seen. That is saying something. I know, I have one.
