  1. Wonder what the STS will sell for? Roger, the guy at CD promised me the BUL would be here in Feb. Then again he said the same thing last year. Could he be full of BUL?
  2. Raul I downloaded the 34 once just to see how low it would go and still function. I did not chrono the load, but 3.0 gr of Titegroup goes 128. I went down to 2.8 and the gun still functioned fine.
  3. I have a 34 and a couple of 35s. I load the 34 to a 127-129 pf and the 35 to a 138-140 pf. I use a 147 gr. bullet in the 9 and a 180 in the 35. The 35 shoots just as softly as the 34 even though the pf is greater. Loading a 35 down to the same pf as the 9 yields a softer shooting gun. Not just my opinion, but echoed by several other shooters that have shot both of these guns. The only difference in reloading cost is the bullet. 147s cost me $40m vs $50m for the 180s.
  4. Raul, what is keeping them from working? My wife's 34 runs flawlessly at a 128 pf. I run my G35 at a 138 pf. I tried it lower but the gun felt a bit slow.
  5. The variations in Glock trigger pull weights are caused by the different trigger bar nose profiles. The trigger bar can be modified to yield a pull, with the 5 lb connector, that is as light as one with the 3.5 connector. I have gotten Glock pulls down as low as 14 oz. The other factor is which connector you use. The Scherer 3.5 has the heaviest, but shortest pull. Lightest, but longest is the Alchemy. My favorite is the old Glockworks/Gunworks connector. I have a few of these hoarded as they are no longer in business. I tested all of the connectors a while back. The results were posted on the Glock Talk forum. Just remember it is all about leverage.
  6. The 34/35 guns tend to flip a bit more, but they are way more cool. Here is a quote from my wife, "It does not matter how well you shoot. All that counts is how cute you are while shooting." She does tend to beat 2/3 of the men at most matches.
  7. The standard model BUL with a dealer cost of $550 looks better every day. It will be a cold day in, well you know, before I would spend $1,700-$2,000 on a STI/SVI. Then again what do I know. I shoot a Glock 35.

The quickest way to solve all of the IDPA issues is to just make all members purchase their equipment from Wilson Combat. I do not own a single Wilson item. I got rid of my Wilson mags a couple of years ago. I use McCormick mags instead. They do not work quite as well, but I will not use any Wilson products. I still will not purchase a Toshiba product after they sold the Russians equipment in the '80s to make quiet props for their subs.
  9. The $15 Blade Tech does not have an offset like the UM.
  10. I for one do not have a real problem with most of the rule changes with the exception of the holster issues. Looks like an easy way to cure this would be for the local Match Directors to just ignore the new holster rules. If it was legal last year then it is legal this year. I don't see our club going with the new rules.
  11. Here's some recent chrono results, yesterday, using TG. These were shot from one of my G35s. OAL was 1.125-1.130" Bullet was a 180 gr Rainier HP. Mixed brass. 3.0 718 fps 129 pf 3.2 752 fps 135 pf 3.4 798 fps 144 pf 4.3 952 fps 171 pf I averaged a 10 string for each. The 3.2, 3.4 and 4.3 loads will all group under 1 1/2" at 25 yds. My wife's G34 with a 147 Rainier bullet and 3.0 gr of TG will group even better. FYI the 3.2 and 3.0 .40 loads shoot softer than the 9mm load. The 9mm load averages 872 fps 128 pf. The 3.4 load feels about the same. I use the 3.4 as I like the way the front sight tracks.
  12. Did some chrono work today. The 3.0 TG load makes a 10 shot average of 872 fps, 128 pf. I noticed that some of you guys load it out to 1.150". I am a bit suprised that it makes the 125 pf. My load at 1.125" just does.
  13. Matches are not won by split times. What counts the most is what you are doing when you are not shooting during a stage.
  14. My wife's 9mm load is 3.0 gr of TG with a 147 gr plated bullet OAL is 1.125". I looked at some of our videos and could see little if any smoke from her gun. Our practice load is a 125 gr lead bullet with 3.5 gr of TG. Chronos at 1050 fps. It does generate a good bit of smoke, but then again so does a .40 with lead bullets. Forgot to mention we, gasp, shoot lead bullets in the stock Glock barrel.
  15. My friend Ron Durham passed away a couple of weeks ago. He posted on this and other forums occasionally. Ron was the Califorinia IDPA AC for a while. He was active in IPSC and IDPA. Ron and I became friends over the last year. He lost the fight to cancer after a year long battle. Sad part is he appeared to have it beaten only to have it reappear. I called him a few weeks ago and found out just before I had called the docs had given him 3-4 months to live. Ron only lasted a couple of weeks. I will miss him a lot.
  16. I have heard that the SPS costs a good bit less than the overpriced STI/SVI guns. True? If so are they available in the US?
  17. I did suggest that the Government model come with a bushing barrel and leave the bull barrel in the IPSC gun. The Government model with a bushing barrel would work well in IDPA ESP. I would buy one.
  18. BTW, the latest from Charles Daly is the BULs will be here 2nd week in Feburary. I am not holding my breath.
  19. Sorry, thought I was addressing an area that needs to be changed or made more clear to improve IDPA.
  20. If you do get dinged then it is time to get the Match Director involved.
  21. Trick, will your Kimber with 10 round Cobra mags fit into an IDPA box? I have heard the ones with a plain base pad will.
  22. I have gotten cover calls when reloading. If I am behind cover enough to shoot am I not behind cover enough to reload? Some SOs thing you have to get all of your body behind cover to reload. Where do they get that?
  23. You can use Wilson or McCormick 10 rd .45 mags. Both fed flawlessly in my Kimber 40. I did load the bullets out to 1.200". I have "heard" that the Trojans use a cast frame. Not sure if this is true. If so I would prefer a Kimber. If not it is a toss IMO. The Ed Brown/Metalform 10 round mags work also. They are just too long for my tastes.
  24. Mark, maybe they have changed. I Rockwell tested both. The Heinies were 10 points softer on the "B" scale. Mine loosened up after about 20,000 rounds of Major. Other Glock shooters that I know, Chris and CY, have had the same problem. Most sights are installed from the right side. IDPA loads probably would not affect them. I just like the Novak sight picture better anyway.
  25. Steve, He repositions the trigger itself. Think of the lever principle. BTW he was not the first. There are many things that come into play when doing a Glock trigger. Most don't know that there are two different nose profiles on the trigger bar. One can alter the nose profile to achieve the same pull weight with a 5# connector that most get with a 3.5 connector and unaltered bar. BTW Heinie rear sights will shoot loose in the dovetail. Novak rears are much better.
