  1. Wow, that's a pretty amazing deal! Right now I'm exchanging some emails with Alan Tanaka and will probably go through him for an action job and bead blast, plus the barrel swap. Since his shop is only about 45 minutes away from me, that will save me the trouble and expense of dealing with shipping. Also, it looks like I can get a new S&W manufactured 4" barrel for $107 through Midway, so I'm toying with the idea of buying that on my own and having a place like Gemini or Mag-Na-Port do their magical drilling on it prior to Mr. Tanaka's install. This way I'm only shipping a single part which will be a lot less expensive than shipping the whole gun. I'm still not convinced that porting is worth it, though, so that may not happen in the end... My "moment in the sun" deal I got the gun for next to nothing in a deal, the owner was convinced it was junk. I got the barrel for 80 bucks shipped. I sent the gun back through a local Smith dealer. I was amazed the bill was so cheap. You could never tell the gun has been worked on. It shoots great. I have less than 250 in it.
  2. I am looking for a good holster for my 610 10mm 3 7/8 inch barrel I would prefer a kydex stlye holster. What do you avid wheel gunners recomend. Any info and pictures would be great. Thanks
  3. I bought a 686-1 with an 8 3/8 barrel that had a buldge the size of a cherry 2 inches from the end. I bought a period correct 4 inch off gunbroker. Smith and Wesson changed the barrel checked out the gun, also replaced the rear sight while they had it. The total bill including shipping both ways was 89.00 bucks.I could not be more pleased with the results.
  4. The old brass ones work much better than the new steel ones. IMO 2 spins on the bench and flip.
  5. Clays is also a great powder for low recoil loads in .44 mag and special cases. It also has some of the lowest pressures.
  6. I think Ruger thought you would be able to engage multiple targets with one sight picture at ranges past 50 feet.
  7. Anything under 250 is a good deal for what is in the picture. I think there is more than meets the eye in this deal. I say go for it!.
  8. I would think your local machine shop could open up the neck on a .223 trim die.
  9. Dillons are like computers as soon as you get the hang of the current press you have. You are ready to move up to a bigger and better press! The difference is, it is not the press that goes obslete it is you wanting to load more ammo. And of course you keep the presses. And have to build more bench!
  10. She can go too. Think of all the bench room you'd have then! (Or...well...she'd have.) If she is gone......does that mean I can wear pants Agian?
  11. It was a hard choice 6 Dillons or one nonrent paying kid. But I came out on top and the Dillons have a new living space. My wife does miss the young lad and it is surley costing me more for her to "help" him.
  12. I found it was just as easy to kick one of the kids out of the house and take the bedroom for my Dillons. Plus Dillons do not talk back!
  13. Thanks for the input guys! I was thinking of picking up a barrel and playng around with this round. The real reason to ask the question was to make the purchase more practical I will stick to .223 for three gun. Still thinks I will get the barrel though.!!
  14. Anyone had any experience with the 300 Blackout round. Will this round make a good 3 gun Cal in a 16 in AR. Thanks
  15. Dillon has never let me down. Any question, any problem they fix it. I sent a SDB back and got the same result. I try to purchase all my stuff direct from Dillon to show my thanks.
  16. Getting a 650 sans case feeder........Is like buying a new car with out any tires on it. Sure looks good, but you won't get very far!
  17. I would say 2,500 black powder .44 specials and 500 or so black powder 45-70. Mix in a few 357 mags and 44mag maybe 3,500 a year or so totalon the 550. Most of the normal Modern cal's get loaded on one of the 650's.
  18. I think Dillon list 44 mag and special as diffrent numbers for conversions. It might be worth a call to them. They are always easy to talk to and the only stupid question....Is the one not asked.
  19. Just ordered my new 650 from Dillon. After talking the wife into looking the other way while I spent at least one house payment on new reloading stuff. Waiting for that Blue wounder is KILLING me. How do you all handle the pre new Blue press blues?

    G17 or 17RTF

I would go with the RTF any day over the standard 17. The RTF has a better grip feel without the added thick grip tape. And yes the slide cuts are cool also.
  21. Somthing like this would work well if space is short.
  22. Why a 200 grn bullet? Why not just use a 180 grn and have less muzzle flip. I use a 180 zero and 5.0 grn tightgroup and make major no prob. This is loaded to fit a Glock mag. I am getting around 5-6 reloads no issues ( lose the brass by then ).
  23. SWEET match!! Dean and crew did a great match. It was sure worth the ride from maine in the MH. Can't wait for the next one.
  24. The theory is sound. You will have to label them well.
  25. I think we are talking about Casefeeders not tumblers.
