  1. I like the noise. When I don't hear cases it is time to add more!
  2. titegroup works great for 40 cal stuff. I use 4.2 and a lead 180 grn bullet makes MPF no issues. For jacketed stuff I find it takes a little more 4.5-4.7 with a 180 tc or hp.
  3. In what way? The check plunger is only on top of the powder during the bottom of the down stroke and the shell plate moves at the top of the up stroke. It seems if the plunger is tamping the powder down enough to make a difference it would give irregular readings as mine are pretty picky about over/under charges. What powder do you use for .223? I use BL-C2. What I see is that it knocks the powder off the mouth of the case and it does seem to "push" the powder down a little. I have loaded several thousand rounds with my 650 using the checker. I only use it for rifle rounds. most of my buddys who have a 650 Hate the powder checker, they say it beeps at them all the time. I think with good adjustements it works great.
  4. I have found mine to be great for loading .223 never had any hang ups. But I have noticed that it helps with powder loss due to case shaking as the shellplate moves.
  5. I use tightgroup. 4.2 grn behind a 180 tc lead bullet gives me 169pf from my 35 with a stormlake barrel. It is a little smokey but not enough to bother me. Hope this helps. 3G
  6. Just slapped mine on the bench and used sheet rock screws to mount. Easy to remove when not needed. Because who really likes swadging anyway?
  7. Are you using a lee die marked with a "U" on the side? As to getting the die lower, Can you install the lockring on the underside of the tool head? It is important to have the size die come in complete contact with the shell holder for it to work the best.
  8. I have one set to load 45 acp. That way I do not have to change the 550 or 650 to large primer. Dillon is the BEST you can get!! They will help with any questions, replace most any part should it break. And everyone I have ever talked with out there has been outstanding. When it comes to customer service Dillon IS the top of the pack. As for factory settings mine came ready to go. Just be wary the SDB is like a gateway drug, Before you know it you will have to have a 550......Then 650 and the rest is history.
  9. I have run in to the same type of issue with speer brass on my 650. The issue was not so much with pullback as it was with the primer being pushed into a cone shape and not being deprimed at all. The primer would stay in the case and jam up the works when I got to station 2. If it got there at all! I use a lee undersized die and I found I had to move the decapping pin down to fully deprime Speer brass.
  10. Not having media stuck in the flash holes would be worth the money.....Almost.
  11. Also check the arm that rotates the primer feed wheel. If this is bent it might not be fully turning the wheel.
  12. Sounds like a timing issue to me. The rod that moves the shell feeder back during the down stroke should be ajusted so that when the handle is at rest the rod is barly touching the angled part of the ramp. When you apply pressure to the handle to seat the primer, the rod should not be touching the ramp. Then the spring pressure will move the feeder in about another 1/8" this keeps the shell in place as you start the down stroke to size the case. picture #2 handle at rest. picture #1 handle during primer seating Picture #4 feeder at rest Picture #3 feeder during primer seating I hope this helps with at least that issue.
  13. It is also a good Idea to put your scale on a different bench than your press is on. I have the same scale It works great! As a rule I would zero every time before I put a charge on anyway.
  14. I had a 650 with out a case feed for about 6 days. Thats how long it took for me to call Dillon and them to ship it to me. I made a deal with the Boss ( read Wife) to buy the 650 and get the case feed later. But after listening to me Swear 2 nights in a row she let me get the case feed for her peice and quite.
  15. Thanks guys. I will tuck this away until one of my buddys needs some odd ammo I don't load on a regular basis. Guess it's time to call Dillon for a 44 mag shell plate.
  16. I just picked up what I thought was a 44 mag conversion for my 550. When I went to set it up I found the shell plate actually had 4 diffrent size shell holders built in. How old is this setup? It only allows for single stage loading. But is kind of cool!! Thanks for info.
  17. I hope this is the proper place for this question. I need to know what type of optic this mount fits. I know it fits the 1913 rail on my flat top perfect. But what brand is it. Any help would be great. Thanks
  18. That is a sweet gun man. My first 1911 was a remington rand ser#1,691,xxx got it with orignal holster and mag pouch in 1993 for 400.00 from a friend who needed money. I kept it until 1995 and sold it for just under 1,000 now the guy that has it has it valued a 2,000+ . Wish I had never sold it!!! If at all possible hang on to that gun. just my 2 cents.
  19. I have been given several thousand old cci small rifle + pistol primers. the boxes are small and some have black and green diamonds on them. and some are white in color. all the boxes are in good shape and the primers look good. I have no idea how old they are or how they were stored. my main question is ARE THEY SAFE TO USE? any advice on this would be very helpfull. Thanks
  20. Thanks for the info. SO my wilson 45 mags will work for 40 SWEET!!. I will try that first thing Sat morning. That is great!
  21. Need to know what brand of .40 cal single stack 1911 mags works best. Any to stay away from? Thanks
  22. I have a caspian commander in 40 S&W that I just picked up. I would like to play with it in single stack at local matches. I would like to know if the same spring # that I use in my glock 35 for major would be ok. Or do I need a stiffer spring due to the increased slide mass. I use a 14# spring currently in my glock. Thanks for any help.
