In fact on Gunbroker.com I have seen sellers refuse Paypal for their anti-gun stance. Most of the shooters supply companies take credit cards, which is what you use with Paypal right? Overall, even if PayPal was in fact anti-gun -- and we stress that there is absolutely no evidence that this is the fact -- whatever few cents they might donate to undermine us from our transaction would be so outweighed by the benefit of the dollars used to forward our cause that it pales in the light of comparison... Would you boycott Victoria's Secret because they don't sell guns? (this guy tried to track down the "PayPal is Anti-Gun" story) Paypal may be evil in other ways, but that's a whole different story.. They do prohibit using Paypal to buy ATF-defined 'firearms', "assault weapons" and "over 10-round magazines", but those also happen to be the categories that could get them into a lot of trouble in many states if they were a party to a bad transaction. It will be interesting to see how many more charges post by tomorrow. Users beware. I quit them long ago from a similar experience. My PayPal money is cold, hard (albiet electronic) cash. What kind of gun parts are you looking for Chet ? An STI 2011 grip. Paypal may be evil in other ways, but that's a whole different story... They have some strange policy against buying or selling anything "adult" oriented. MANY of the vendors over on ar15.com have had their PayPal accounts canceled because they are in the gun trade. Not just guns, mags and the dreaded assault weapons, anything in the gun trade. I did a Google (not them! they're anti's too!) search on site:ar15.com paypal account closed and found 42 hits.. all of the same type "they closed my account for selling 30 round magazines.. raffle tickets for a rifle.. hicap mags.. bought ammo online.. " I couldn't find one that wasn't against their posted rules. I'm no PayPal fan, and there's no way they're pro-gun, but I think this is overblown. We accepted Paypal for a number of years as a payment tool for the stuff we sell on ebay, trying to follow their rules strictly as it came to taking their payments for purchases. Late last year, they froze our account with absolutely no warning. It took over 60 days to get the money released. No one from their company would talk to us, they did not return emails, the people who answered their phone would give us no answers. Our offense? Well, on our web site, we offer parts and accessories for AR-15's, sell high capacity magazines for pistols, and other similiar things. We did not accept Paypal through our web site, only the standard V, MC and Discover. We only accepted Paypal for ebay auctions because it is the payment tool of choice on eBay. But, we did not sell those offensive magazines and AR parts on ebay due to their anti gun rules. So, we took no payments through our web store using Paypal for high caps, AR parts and other items which are offensive to anti gunners. But, someone with too much time on their hands who worked for Paypal figured out that our ebay account was owned by the same company as our web site and locked us down cold. They demanded that we STOP selling these items on our web site as a condition of using Paypal for eBay auction payments. Never mind that Paypal was not accepted on the web site, just the fact that we sold these offensive items was enough to get on their black list. Well, since a large portion of our customers are LEO and military who need this stuff and just on general principle, we refused to allow anyone to tell us what legal items we can sell, so we naturally did not take the items off the web site. What finally happened is that we agreed to Paypal's terms on an electronic form and sent it back to them. No one bothered from the Paypal side to check whether we removed the items from the web store and they unlocked our account. We immediately pulled our money out and then closed the account. You can choose to believe that Paypal has anti gun leanings or not, it really does not matter to me. But, when they discriminate against people simply for selling firearms and accessories, it seems pretty clear to me which camp they are in. FWIW, Google has similar issues-- you can't use terms like 'glock' as Ad-words at all, and if your site that an AdWord links to has even a gun picture on it, they immediately disable your ad, regardless if you sell guns or not. We were told that Paypal has a department that goes through all of the merchant accounts looking for "violations" of their anti gun, anti porn, any of their "anti" policies. This is all that this group does during their working day. Basically, if you want to avail yourself of the Paypal payment services, you need to adhere to their view of the world or your account gets locked once they notice you.
