Unexpected result with change from coated 147g to FMJ 115g

Ran out of 147g ibejihead coated flat point bullets. Found some Hornady 115g FMJ RN and loaded them over the same VV N320 charge I used for the 147's. Turns out the lighter bullet wouldn't cycle my Springfield XDm.  Seems counter-intuitive.

Your XDM is "recoil-operated".  A lighter bullet with the same powder charge generates a lot less recoil.  Otherwise you could go lighter and lighter on bullets until you got to Warp Speed.

Yup, this is standard. Lighter bullet accelerates faster so the peak pressure is lower and the amount of time the pressure generates force on the slide is shorter. Less force and force acting over shorter period of time will make your slide not cycle.

Look at any reloading manual and compare loads for different bullet weights, you'll see the pattern.

Wow.  +0.8g. That's +25% at minimum to +21% maximum published for N320 in latest VV app for 9x19mm.

You also dropped the bullet weight by 21%, And you increased the case volume considerably too.
