Heaven forbid you have epilepsy and want to troll the internet. Ever where ya go those tings are going. Have you gotten the pop-up that flashes like that. Nothing like a midnight stroll on the net and then BANG, there it is, flashing, making all kinds of noise.

Long ago, before I slightly upgraded the office system here, the damn things used to even crash my system.

Oh, and what I really hate: Websites you go to that won't let you "Back" option to wherever you were before!!!! GAH!!! That feature oughta be outlawed!!!!:angry:

Actually, the redirector pages that hold you captive on a <Back> keystroke are illegal (as much as anything on the internet can be). If you report them to the Feds (FTC, if I recollect correctly), they will fine the folks using them.

There have evidently been rulings by the FTC on some specific scams using "Page-Jacking" and "Mouse-Trapping" techniques:

But I have yet to find anything specifically forbidding "Mouse-Trapping" even though folks are being sued for using it in conjunction with other techniques:

Use the history(?) feature to defeat the captive page jerks. In IE click the little down arrow next to the Back button and you can scroll down the list to whatever previous page you want. I'm not sure how to do it in the other browsers.

Remember go as fast as possible and take all unnecessary chances.

I love Firefox. Everyone should give it a try. Firefox with the Adblock plugin is just superb. One word of warning if you visit lots of Flash based websites there is a bug in the current version of Adblock that keeps them from displaying at all. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

If you run Windoze, FireFox with it's popup blocker enabled and the AdBlocker plug-in installed is the only way to surf safely and serenely. IE sux hind teat on all platforms.

Were you a Texan in another lifetime? 'Cos that sure do sound like one of the local colloquialisms from around these parts! :D
