Stevetford
Just received my approval email today for my AR based SBR build. Is the NFA engraving of my name and city required on the lower receiver. My understanding is that it is not required unless I decide to sell. The original manufactures name (Aero) and serial # are adequate for identification purposes while it’s in my possession. Is this information correct or do I need to schedule and appointment with a shop to have it engraved? Thanks for the help.
Alaskapopo
Yes it’s required
emjbe
you are the manufacturer of the SBR, not Aero. So you have to follow the regulations. A good detail is section 7.4 of the NFA handbook:
chowellacsbd
Yes you need to have it engraved. On both of mine, I have my full name, then city, and state. All that’s needed. mine are located on the inside top of the trigger area. Edited November 5, 2021 by chowellacsbd

chowellacsbd
Two suppressors, two sbr’s and two sbs’s, all under 35 days each form 1’d using efile. Call the NFA branch m-f, they’ve always been helpful and quick to get through to a person to get status on a submission.
Nathanb
Form 1s are different than a form 4. So if it’s a form 4 it’s going to take a lot longer. If it’s paper form 1 it’s going to take a lot longerp Edited November 5, 2021 by Nathanb

FlightMurse
Just to point out, if you are filing this as a trust it would be the full name of your trust, city, abbreviated state.

According to the letter of the law you have to have the caliber marked somewhere, although it doesn't have to be on the receiver. Usually it's on the barrel anyway which qualifies (I've never heard of anyone getting jacked for not having it marked either).
