Mini red dot sights

Mini red dot sights seem to be the new hot setup. Just curious why everybody wants the mini sights, is it because of ejection, weight, closer to the bore? I know that the 9 major 

guys ran them for ejection but I don't think that's the only reason. I am not saying which is better or worse just wondering why everybody wants to use them.

I like them for field of view.

Ejection was the main thing so you didn't have to run a regular C-more sideways.  Then distance to bore line.  Then all the cool kids are doing it.

 

Not for reliability, thats for sure.

I shoot in multiple divisions so they are the best answer for me. Bore line distance is a big deal if you shoot both Iron sights and Open guns. 
Also C/O and Open can use he same optic which is good for visual memory and spare parts. 

I have RTS2 on my Carry Optics and Open guns.

im still wondering about the same, after seeing more or less all of my open division colleagues have one or more MRD fail in the middle of a match

Field of view, lower bore for easier zero'ing, better ejection, less weight, and moar sexies

Is there a preference for slide mounted sights that is offer taking the more traditional “fixed bracket” mounts.    I don’t have a lot of experience on slide mounted red dots for  pistols but I find that reacquainting the dot after recoil is the steepest part of the learning curve.

Reacquiring the dot in recoil is automatic if grip is good. My wish is more reliability as in sliderides.
