Aircooled6racer
Hello: There is no problem going straight to open but I would say you have to reload to shoot open major unless the cost of buying ammo is not a problem. Carry Optics will get you almost there at 1/4 the cost. Thanks, Eric
BoyGlock
More concerned on the software and less on hardware costs. Go and stay on others Divisions and develop your skills then carry them over to Open and some habits may disadvantage you for quite awhile without knowing it. Open is quite different animal vs other divs. Hounds me till now I think. Otoh, this may not be a problem to some.
AverageJoeShooting
I started in open with a stock m&p Now all this time later I run a 38 sc racegun. It's a ton of investment but to me open is the most fun class.
HCH
Shoot what you have, and play with other guns when you get a chance. I would NOT recommend building a Glock/XDM/M&P into an open gun. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.
tke37617
Moved to open after about a year of shooting USPSA. I love the class. Just a lowly "b" shooter but having fun!!

NiteQwill
If I could do it all over again from 15 years ago, I would go straight to Open. Honestly, all the money and time you spend "getting there" can be well spent on you becoming proficient in Open, if that is what you desire. MrPan
Open is a ton of fun. The biggest drag race and the most shooting per second
