After reload STI Mag dumped out 6-8 rounds on the ground.

Thanks, I will drop test it on my basement floor and see if happens again.

Almost always see a round or two pop out. 6-8 popping out probably the follower twisted and stuck. Who knows. As long as the mag works fine in the gun I wouldn’t sweat it.

I did a drop test last night and noticed the follower got stuck fairly low in the magazine.  I'm guessing the spring should not be twisted like this?

typically the followers have extra material on them that causes it to get stuck since it is plastic. Take the mag apart and by hand move the follower with spring in to the tube. you're looking for where it's getting caught and then remove a little material from follower. It should move pretty freely through the tube. I'd also run some 1000 grit sandpaper on the inside of the tube to smooth out any burrs.

it can happen with weaker springs. i'd consider extra power springs from wolff

Thanks, its an original factory spring that probably should be replaced.

Just know that you can't just put any spring with any follower in the tube. Make sure if you keep factory STI follower that springs you buy will fit them specifically.

And rounds displacing / ejecting is pretty normal. When the mag hit the floor, the weight of 13 stacked rounds compessed the spring. On the way down and back up, they leave the neat doublestack configuration and some fly out.

Download to 4 or so rounds more than you’ll need and you’ll see less of this.

This obviously applies only to classifier stages, and to ones taking place in a range with a hard floor.
