p7fl
Dropping Friend took a hard fall running a stage, he went down flat but with complete control of his pistol. He rested a moment then let the gun out of his hand to get up. Before I could stop him, he picked up the loaded gun. Was this a DQ when he released the gun to get up. Was it a DQ again when he picked it up instead of me, the RO on the stage. He had decided to stop on the stage. See definition of “dropped” and 10.5.14. I DQ’d him Was this the correct application of dropped?
ChuckS
Better go read 10.5.3 and see if any of that fits...

Sarge
Actually depends on the gun right? Has to be in a ready condition per 8.1.1. So if it’s a 1911/2011 etc the safety had to be on or it’s a DQ
broadside72
As long as it was put into ready condition prior to him releasing the gun, it was legal. Since you left that part out, I thought I would comment about 10.5.3.
JAFO
Same thing happened with a PCC shooter right after the Division started. He didn't get DQ'd at the time because he kept control of the gun. But after the run, we were discussing it and realized he should have been DQ'd for failing to apply the safety when he released it to get up. Matt1911
I hate falling during a stage. I did it one time running forward, my foot caught the lip of the shooting box just right and I went forward in slow motion and actually slid into the next box. Luckily I kept the pistol pointed at the berm and finger off trigger so I got myself to my knees inside the box I slid into and finished the stage on my knees. My buddies had a real good laugh.
