Nordic NC-15. Any Good??

I was recommended by a user to post this in this location. Hope that's OK.

I'll keep this as concise as possible. Looking at buying a Nordic NC-15 WYLDE (UPC 816696020082) for around $639. However, info, reviews, or videos on Nordic in general is very limited - not 1 major Youtube channel has reviewed Nordic. Practically nothing on the NC-15 at all. No reliability/durability testing, whether it can eat steel cased, and all the other standard review topics. Also, there are very few retailers, and I have yet to find even 1 review for the gun. Even on gun.deal (formerly slick guns) no one has touched the rating or comment section and people LOVE to give their opinions on there.

This is disconcerting to me as I'll read 30 articles, 50 pages of forums, and watch 10 hours of video reviews for a product. The stark lack has scared me away in the past.
That said, on this forum, I see good reviews of Nordic hardware and I have read some pretty good reviews of the Nordic PCCs or .22. My use for this would be home defense, general plinking, SHTF. 

 

Nordic NC-15 is listed as $639 (though on a few websites I have seen it at over $1,600. What the heck? Price gouging or is $639 just a fantastic deal?).
Other rifles I'm considering: M&P 15 Sport 2 ($519 for MOE model), Springfield Saint ($730).

The NC-15 has what seems to be upgrades that similarly priced ARs don't:
- Large Midwest Industries M-LOK handguard (similar to ~$200 Gen 3 MI; has 1 nut at the base vs 2 and a slight design difference.)
- Magpul grip/buttstock (lower end models, but many rifles in the $600-$700 range only have the standard hand guard, grip, and stock)
- 9310 for the bolt (not carrier?) vs 158 carpenter 
- MPI bolt (don't think the carrier)
- Forged lower (not billet)
- the barrel (if the same as sold separately) appears to have great reviews, even in the competition world. Theoretically should be far above a standard 4140 M&P Sport barrel or the Saint.
- Upgraded flash hider (around $90 at Cheaper Than Dirt) vs. birdcage

Am I missing something? Is Nordic's marketing team just missing the ball? I came to this forum because when searching "Nordic" this was the site that had the most hits for that search.

NOTE TO NORDIC: If your quality will stand up to criticism and want to increase sales, maybe give Nuttin' Fancy, Military Arms Channel, and IV8888 a rifle to test and get your name out there. 
The lack of reviews will prevent most people from ever buying any Nordic rifle.

Nordic makes parts for many in the industry, their machining is excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of their rifles especially at the price you are quoting. I have a Nordic 18" barrel in one of my AR's and it is sub MOA with the 1-4X Meopta with 25.5 of H335 using Nosler 55 Ballistic Tip bullets.

Sounds like a very good price, esp with the handguard and furniture.

 

Sounds like it might have a milspec trigger and no compensator - neither

is necessary, but very desirable for any kind of competitive shooting -

they cost $100 - $200 each, usually.

Based on comments on the forums that I frequent, I wouldn't hesitate to buy parts or firearms for NC - as long as the configuration is what I want, or easily upgradable to what I want.

Thanks to everyone who has replied! I had wondered if Nordic made things for other companies (their main business?), but on the side made some components they stamped their own name on and just decided to put together a few rifles. That would maybe explain why there isn't much out there on Nordic firearms and why they're aren't marketing those products much.

 

I may be leaning towards the NC-15 now. If I go that direction I'll be sure to give a range report.

It would be great to have someone like Nutn' Fancy on Youtube do a thorough review. Give him a free rifle to review and it's guaranteed to get around 50,000 views at a minimum. Seriously cost-effective advertising. Could really gain traction for NC's firearms, but if that isn't their focus, I understand.

I own one, it's a nice rifle. Don't have a lot of rounds down it though, 250? maybe. I also have the NC-10 hits gongs for 3 gun at 370 with PMC Bronze ammo. Again not a lot of rounds down that one either.

 

I changed the trigger due to the fact the GI trigger that came with it wasn't my cup of tea.

Great, thanks Rieckman! You're the first I've heard of owning one (except a thread somewhere on here that sold one).
I've never done competition or handled competition spec rifles. So you guys on here are out of my league. 

As far as Nordic being competition oriented (higher end?) vs M&P Sport 2 or Saint, I wonder if functionality depends on treating it like a Ferrari - keep immaculately clean, etc, vs some lower end guns that you could go a little easier on. 

In the next few days I plan on getting something, so your everyone's insight has been helpful!

I don’t have the NC15, but I do have their PCC9.  It eats everything and I do not clean my guns like some.  I only have about 3k rounds through it and only add lube before shooting.  Have yet to break it down and clean it.  Based on this and their other parts I have, I would not hesitate to buy one of there NC15 rifles if it fit my needs.

bmc350 - Thanks! Glad to hear from a user on the maintenance side of it. That was one question I was unable to find an answer for. I went ahead and ended up buying the NC-15. I heard back from Nordic to a question and as an additional point, they stated the $640 price was well below their wholesale price. So I'm really pleased with the deal. 
It's supposed to arrive at my FFL on Monday 9th, so I'm stoked!

UPDATE 07-10-18: I picked up my Nordic NC-15 from my FFL today. He is 20-year Army retiree, firearms instructor, builds ARs and has seen countless of them. He went on and on about the quality of the NC-15. ESPECIALLY since I was able to pick it up at around $640. He said there must have been some kind of distributor mistake.
It's interesting that just 1 week after purchasing mine, then commenting on this forum, and contacting Nordic with a question (mentioning the price), that all retailers are sold out. 
Now, the next closest price to the $640 I paid is $925. 
I have yet to shoot it, but look forward to it!

But, a quick Google search shows the Nordic listed on many online gun stores, such as Classic Firearms.

Out of stock and a selling price of $1600-ish.

I just purchased a NC-15,  an purchased 5.56 ammo. I wanted to know if I can use a 300 blackout or a 223 round as well?

223 is basically the civilian equivalent to 5.56 and will work just fine in your rifle assuming it's chambered in 5.56.   300 blackout has a 7.62mm projectile and is not compatible with your barrel.  but you can build another upper receiver with a 300 blackout chambered barrel.   that upper can use your other nc15 parts like the bolt carrier group and complete lower and mags, that's the beauty of 300blk, just needs a bigger barreled upper.
