  1. my KL12, obviously thoroughly worked over, has cycled every light load other than the 980fps low recoil ammo i've thrown at her like 1oz@1180 and such, but locally most of the stock or nearly stock saigas, veprs, lynx, cheetahs, etc seem to want much hotter like 1-1/8@1350 to run reliably so i'm not surprised to see others needing hot ammo too.
  2. my pump gun for heavy is a 28" barrel and like fly said above me it's still shorter than a 12rd tube below it. I wanted the 26" but they had a 28" on the rack in front of me so i just grabbed that, no regrets. once you're below 22"-24" it seems velocity drops and the changes to effective choke start becoming a bit of a factor depending on the match. at VSS last year there was some crazy heavy set steel on one stage that even choked full the 14" shorty open guns had trouble with, my 19" open gun was ok, but the 24"+ tube guns didnt have as much trouble as we did. 24" seems to be a sweet spot though to me.
  3. started with 6moa old cmore, now 5moa SRO on my open gun. 7.5moa triangle DPP on my open shotgun. 12moa old cmore on my MPX and it feels ridiculously large until i'm shooting and i don't think about it.
  4. I get the want. I just love the look of vent ribs on shorter barrels, like the tac13 thing compared to any of the other shockwave things without, just looks so much more proper shotgun to my eyes!
  5. because of length, bore, stock, and rifling conditions it isnt a shotgun, but a firearm
  6. I've been following this thread all along, interesting feedback throughout, but this point had me laughing because I've personally found the opposite to be true! Sure, pistol games are varied and frequent, but it's my rifles that ONLY get used in 3gun! On the contrary my shotguns, be it absurdly long m3k auto, p3000 pump, or Dissident open vepr all get used for so many other events like trap, clays, 5stand, and practical shotgun. my take on the shotgun hate isnt the shotgun itself so much as it's the only gun whose ancillary needs like caddies bear no resemblance to non-game real world gear. tactical community has slings and vests with plates, pistol, and rifle mag pouches, hunting community has vests or bags, conceal carry community has holsters and pouches. But the 3gun gear is what's totally game focused and the hardest part to swallow. The gun itself is hugely diverse in it's abilities. as far as 3g recession, up here in the northease it seems new matches are popping up semi frequently, though perhaps we were grossly underrepresented before?
  7. My TSO was the first pistol that i really felt fit me just right, and i pretty much find myself just shooting my CM and TSO now, with some glock 21 for heavy metal. but honestly i'm a slut and i'll enjoy shooting whatever's in front of me...
  8. I've been using plated 115s over 4.8gr of WSF, runs smoothly and i'm not finding it to be horribly dirty either
  9. My slide fit was very tight when i first got it, so much so that it was hard to rack. Before i shot it i kept it real wet and racked it for a while. Next day i shot about 400 rounds through her and that's about the point everything started working properly. Everything's buttery smooth now.
  10. I can't squad yet either, I hope that doesn't have any bearing on the spot paid for already. Its just two weeks before full refund deadline and I'd love to know for sure I'm in to finalize plans.
  11. cant tell a difference in controls and it uses the stock pair of mag springs one of the factory spring pad as a pairing plate. it's not my go to mag for uspsa because it's work to clean out and bends forward fairly far since it's so long for low port shots, just use a 30 with tti +11 as it's field cleanable for dropping outdoors. but when you need 50+ rds its awesome, i put together a pair and theyve both been great.
  12. i use it as the bottom mag for taccom coupled big big sticks, i can get 57rds in for monster or pcc only matches.
  13. i sent mine in back in november it was $20 to reshape them, so much so that it'll need a new spring and follower for $18 i think. Bevin said the reshaping of the mag tube is so different even his commercial cz ts follower wont make it to the feed lips, but he swaps out to his new style if you already bought his guts. turnaround was quick too.
  14. Contact Bevin Grams at Grams Engineering (949) 548-3745 http://www.gramsengineering.com/services.php i sent all 3 of my big sticks to Bevin and they'll now run to 29+1 reliably with good upward nose pressure on the top round. i'm getting ready to send him all my 140s soon too.
  15. i'm using the magpul bipod with a larue qd mount to a short rail section on my rifle's lower handguard and i'm liking it thus far.
  16. I've been very impressed with my friend's everglades 2011 holster, but i too shoot a Czechmate for open and a Tac Sport Orange for limited. Mine has the type 2 ts-orange style trigger guard. I'm using the alpha x for 3gun and would love the fully locked option especially when coming out of a shotgun or rifle sling.
  17. old style strike industries 60* with my two work great
  18. i've been using 5.0gr of WSF under a 115 in my 8' gen2. slow enough powder to generate the gas needed and plenty soft shooting. mine wouldnt cycle my 147/TG pistol load reliably when new but i'm gonna try 115s with TG now that she's shot in.
  19. my two have been working fine in both my 3gun rifle and mpx with the older style single ended 60* strike industries safety as well
  20. Are you saying the carrier standing upright on the bcg buffer face and the gas rings should support the bolt's weight, or that the bcg standing upright on the bolt lugs and the rings should support the weight of the carrier?
  21. Is it possible the slr wants to be 'shimmed' a small distance from the rear surface to center the port front to back? As in could you install it up against a delta ring style handguard front support plate and yours doesn't have that?
  22. if you can find a machine shop or garage that does a lot of really small hardware work there's a thing called a 'time-sert' that can repair missing threads like a helicoil but stronger as it's a fully threaded sleeve. we use them all the time at work, usually in well used aluminum housings. i never looked that closely at my mount to see if that's what they already use but it's possible if the threads are steel. there's also a 'big-sert' which can replace a pulled out 'timesert' already repaired so there's options. i'd offer to fix it if i had the kit but we don't have thread kits that small.
  23. i have an 8" mpx 'pistol' that got a mid brake extension and stock for pcc, while i'm not sure the brake did a ton for recoil (its also an mpx and real soft to begin with) it makes mine one of the louder pccs i've shot with and i've never had an issue with the timer missing a shot. i have mine clocked about 40*-45* to the right, away from me and generally towards the RO. i'd probably do it again as i dont need to add a fairly heavy comp to the end for sound purposes
  24. the reason you'd want a tacii is because it's just so sexy
  25. i sent my 3 big sticks to Bevin last november and theyve run flawlessly since, they'll fin 29 with czc pads. i'm about to send all my small sticks to him for the same... which is exactly what he predicted would happen
