im getting my edge this week and im looking at getting a SV trigger so i can get a flat trigger installed but does anyone know if they fit the factory STI grips with out too much heavy modification? i can manage some filing and sanding but dont wanna butcher the shit out of right off the bat. i do plan on getting a EVO or maybe sanding and stippling the grip eventually but would like to get some rounds down range before i mess with it too much.

If memory serves, the trigger stirrup dimensions (width) are slightly different, and the channels in the grip have to be opened a bit for the SV to work.

But, then again, I'm old and I can't really remember if I've gone to the bathroom yet today.

Then you also have the "gunsmith" fit flat polymer trigger from STI that definitely works.

I even have a couple that would be close to a "short" flat length that I'm not using if you want to try that route.

My end route is to have it fitted but to a evo grip so I'd like to get as close to drop in as possible  for now just so I can get comfortable with the gun over winter training. Then have my local wizard do the work to get everything professionally fitted. I don't think I need a long pull so that might be an option though, what are you looking for for them?

Maybe $20 shipped.

I have fitted SV trigger bows to several different STI Plastic grips and its not a fun experience. The optimal way to do it is getting an STI based trigger bow mandrel then reshape the SV trigger bow to the STI shape. That usually gets the bow to somewhat close dimensions needed for the STI grip. But you always need to hog out the plastic trigger shoe channel in the grip or file down the outer dimensions of the SV trigger shoe base to get it to fit the grip without binding. You also need to monkey with the trigger bow shape so it doesn't bind on the sides of the grip.

By the time I get an SV trigger bow fitted to an STI Plastic grip its pretty much a custom fit between those two parts and the trigger bow can't be moved into another grip without a bunch of additional fitting. Sadly this usually results in the trigger bow being a disposable item when switching grips from plastic to steel because every grip has its own funky dimension limitations to deal with.

If you are planning on practicing with a standard STI Plastic grip then switch to a metal grip later, I would advise getting the STI Gunsmith Blank trigger bow. Installing STI Trigger Bows into STI Plastic grips usually require very little fitting to the grip (usually just taking off a little material on the top and bottom of the shoe) and no bow fitting needed. Then you can simply cut or shape the plastic trigger shoe to whatever depth or angle you want it at. This is the cheapest option as well as you can usually get STI Trigger bows for about $30. So if you happen to screw it up you are not out a bunch of money like you would be with an SV trigger bow.

Later down the road when you want to swap the plastic grip with a metal one, then have an SV trigger bow fitted to the metal grip.

Thanks for the info I thought about going that route but wasn't sure which route would be better thank you.

For what it's worth I purchased a new svi trigger new with short flat trigger pad , removed the trigger pad from the bow, took an Sti plastic trigger pad off of the bow and swapped trigger pads to bow. Then used a file and then sandpaper and fit the trigger pad to the Sti grip. Works great.

I must be the exception. My Sv trigger fit in pretty good into my plastic grip. A little file needed but not a butcher job.

The SV trigger itself was too tall to fit in my grip, but the bow was fine. YMMV

Thought I would have to do a lot of filing but it was close to start with. You know how Sti is now tolerances are terrible when it comes to batches.

I have a PT Evo grip with an SVItrigger bow in it.

I did have to do some fitting on it. I used a small end mill type bit on my dremel and went little by little until it was close. Then I used a latex tip to smooth it up for the last bit and lastly took a polishing wheel with compound it it.
