Xanatos903
So I recently got my LW barrel back from Kneelingatlas who lengthened the throat to accommodate longer loads. I loaded up some test rounds using 124gr plated bullets from RMR and CFE pistol from 5.0 to 7.0gr, and my results are below for the last few data points. I didn't see a single pressure sign throughout 100 total rounds that I loaded for the test today, the only difference that I noticed was that as load got hotter, the dimple made by the firing pin became slightly shallower. No primer flattening around the outside of it, no bulged cases, and no split necks. Is it really possible to be pushing a 124gr pill this fast without seeing a single sign of pressure? 6.5gr CFE Pistol 124gr RMR loaded to 1.15" Mixed brass S&B Primers High- 1364 Low 1341 Avg 1348 6.6gr CFE Pistol 124gr RMR loaded to 1.15" Mixed brass S&B Primers High- 1378 Low 1354 Avg 1370 6.7gr CFE Pistol 124gr RMR loaded to 1.15" Mixed brass S&B Primers High- 1383 Low 1374 Avg 1376 6.8gr CFE Pistol 124gr RMR loaded to 1.15" Mixed brass S&B Primers High- 1419 Low 1397 Avg 1410 6.9gr CFE Pistol 124gr RMR loaded to 1.15" Mixed brass S&B Primers High- 1461 Low 1421 Avg 1438 7.0gr CFE Pistol 124gr RMR loaded to 1.15" Mixed brass S&B Primers High- 1483 Low 1445 Avg 1462 Are these velocities and lack of pressure signs typical? I trust the results, but I'm in disbelief that my testing went like this without any hiccups! I have a load that I'm happy with, and I have enough buffer room on either side of it to comfortably throw powders and not have to weigh every last one of them because I feel I'm on the ragged edge. kneelingatlas
S&B SRP or SPP? Seems a little faster than I would expect, but not too crazy.
Xanatos903
S&B SPP. I'd considered using some of my CCI magnums or SRPs, but I figured I might as well work it up with what I'd prefer to use.
kneelingatlas
Those are all on the harder side as far as primers go so it's believable.
9x45
I've never seen a 124 grain 9mm go over 1,400 fps. I can get my .357SIG well over 1,400 fps, but it holds a bunch more powder. Is this a 9x21, 9x23 or 9x25? What gun? What barrel length? What Chrono? And a plated bullet to boot, that should have brass shavings everywhere. Xanatos903
Yeah, it was pretty surprising. Glock 34 with a threaded barrel, probably 6"? 9x19. These are RMR's hardcore match plated bullets. They recommend keeping them under 1500fps, so I'm within that recommendation anyway.
kneelingatlas
Plated bullets go faster than jacketed, your barrel is longer than most, and it appears you have a fast barrel to boot. I've found my CZ and Tanfoglio barrels to be significantly faster than STI, KKM and Schuemann barrels of the same length. You've got everything going for you to make fast velocities, you might try 115s with the same charge, I think you'll like them.
9x45
Xanat, your max load is like 2 grains over CFE's load data. Did you weight these bullets? I just clocked my 9mm 125 grain Black and Blue HiTek coated bullets on top of 4.5 grains of TiteGroup at 1.100" and they went 1,200 fps thru a G17 OEM. Also ran some .357SIGs thru my G31 OEM with 125 JHP Montana Golds on top of 8 grains of BE-86 at 1.140" and they only made 1,400 fps. When I look at the Hodgdon load data for .357SIG and 125 grain bullets, they show 8 grains making 1,350 fps (4" barrel). And the 357SIG is rated at a much higher pressure and has thicker case dimensions. Edited October 2, 2016 by 9x45
Bullets
Wow thats really fast for a plated. 1.155, 7.0gr cfe, 125gr coated gets me 1365 fps.
kneelingatlas
That extra inch means a lot I've seen a 6% increase in velocity per inch of barrel from 4" to 5" to 6" How long is your barrel Bullets? If it's 5" it's right in there: 1365 * 1.06 = 1447
Maximis228
I did some test loads for CFE pistol out to 7.5 Gr under a 124 DP HP for a V6. Still no pressure signs.

IDescribe
124gr RMR Match what? RN, FP, or HP? And what was the bullet's max OAL before KneelingAtlas reamed it? I thought Glocks came out of the box already throated like pornstars.
