kneelingatlas
I like N105 under a

kneelingatlas
That sounds about right for a full sized gun, the 38s I had were short (4.4"/three holes and 4.9"/two holes) so the only made 160PF with 10.5gr
Hi-Power Jack
The lighter bullet takes more powder - so you get more gas - so the comp should work "better". I'd go with Kneeling's suggestion
accu9
At equivalent power factor, 115's requires more powder than 124/5's. Which is better? That is entirely subjective. My perception is that 115's are flatter but hit the hand harder whereas 124's are softer but have more muzzle rise.
bret
I shot the 115's with 10.2 grains of VV 3n38, average 1455 velocity, PF average is 167, Dot moves some, so I am going up to 10.5 grains and see what the dot does and see what the velocity does, I would like it to be closer to 170 PF.Gun doesn't have Popple holes, those may be next. user293
I used 124/5s out of my open gun. 3 port comp with 3 hybrid ports. 3n38 was THE powder. all others came up short. I believe 3n38 runs best with holes in the barrel. n105 was cool but i didnt like the full case and didnt like how it only came in 1 pound containers. n350 could be an option for ya too. i tried 115s out of my gun and they were ok but accuracy was better with the zero .356 125 gr bullets and 3n38 and i liked the dot movement better out of the 125s. up that PF to 174ish and see how that works for ya. Shadyscott999
I tried 115's and thought they were horrible. 121-125's were the most used bullet weight at Open nationals buy a HUGE margin
blaster113
I have a light 5" .38SC and tried 115, 121 and 125's. Brazos comp, no holes. My gun seems to have less dot movement with the lighter bullets. 11.0 grains of N105 with a 115 jhp only got me a pf of about 169, but man the load felt like nice. And the cases were filled almost to the top haha. Try N105 and 121s. If I recall my N105 load with 121's was 10.6 grains at 1.235. The load felt close to my 115 gr load. Havent tried 3N38 with 115's but my impression of 3N38 when I used it with 121/125s is that its close to N105 in terms of dot movement.
GrumpyOne
In 38s, I load a 115MG JHP with 10.5 of N105 at 1.235...170 PF last time I chronoed it....SC has less case volume than Super, so should take just a tad less powder at 1.235...
Megamind
I prefer the feel of 124 out of my gun
