Possible Dillon Improvement to the Powder Check

Recommended Posts

Dillon Rep,

Have you guys ever thought about ADDING a LIGHT VISUAL to

complement the buzzer on the powder check?

Some of us have hearing issues and or wear hearing protection

along with eye protection while reloading.

With passive muffs on I cannot hear the buzzer.and a light flash sure

would be an aid to me and I'm sure others also.

Why would you be wearing hearing protection when reloading?

+1 from the above post! The primer tube has been known to blow up, especially on the 650, and hearing loss is permanent!

Barakay,

There are DEAF reloaders you know,

A 1050 has 8 stations to keep track of also,

and loads a bunch, even manually.

I was not trying to offend, simply making a suggestion. I am well aware of hearing impaired shooters/reloaders

We have looked at this. To power both a buzzer and a light will require some redesign to the casing to hold an additional battery. This requires changes to the mold. When that mold needs to be rebuilt we will certainly revisit this, but don't expect it in the near future. A few customers have cut away the buzzer and soldered an LED in its place. Not as pretty as a new casing would be, but it works.

BeerBarron,

Running a 8 station 1050 has you busy watching many things.

I just thought a flashing light would help some HANDICAPPED folks

who are POSSIBLY DEAF or suffer from heavy hearing loss.

This is an IMPROVEMENT to an existing product and a beneficial one at that.

Safety First.

I am sure it can made to work with the existing mold..just the other day I was playing with my 6yr old cops and robbers with his toy guns. And let me tell you. They have leds all kinds of moving parts and there loud and annoying. And last a few months of agony on two AAA batts.

I've had this problem and am glad to hear I'm not the only one suffering from aging ears.

I removed the buzzer from the case; ground off the little ear; cut a 1" hole in the casing; and installed the buzzer backwards. I also had a friend wire in a small bulb (LED?) Works better, but I wish Dillon could come up with a buzzer that sounds like, but different from, the low primer device. I think the main problem is the existing buzzer is too high pitched. This is the range where most shooters lose their hearing.
